The moment I walked in to Chateau Cestayrols my first thought was, "how can I get myself a getaway retreat like this!" The accommodation was very comfortable and the Chateau has been kept to a lovely standard. I was especially impressed by the outdoor space, with two lovely gardens and a very inviting pool. The town itself is very small so short trips to Cordes, Albi and Saint Antonin Noble Val are a must. If you're looking for a new place to visit in southern France, head north east from Toulouse straight for Chateau Cestayrols!!

We came across Chateau Cestayrol quite by accident whlst browsing the internet, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. This simply beautiful Chateau in soft mellow stone with pretty arched windows certainly has the wow factor both inside and out. When we arrived at the large white gates and entered the colourful and secluded well tended and garden, we were greeted by the owners Murray Turnbull and his lovely wife Jan. As we were taken inside the house we were delighted to see, through the stone arches of another garden wall, the twinkling swimming pool which was so inviting after several hours of driving in temperatures of over 40 degrees.

The cool interior of the house does not disappoint, high ceilings, grand staircase and lovely exposed stone walls, Jan and Murray have spent years lovingly decorating and furnishing their home, with the perfect mixture of old and new, acheiving a stunning result. The rooms are calm and peaceful in neutral shades and white, with the odd splash of vibrant colour. The bedlinen and big soft snuggly towels are of superb quality, the bathrooms have been fitted out with all modern fittings and the whole place is scrupulously clean.

Within half an hour of our arrival we had settled in and were enjoying a welcome drink and yummy nibbles by the pool. We had not only a huge bedroom plus our own bathroom, but lounge and dining room too, with use of tea and coffee making facilites and a fridge which had been stocked for us with milk, water, beer, wine and even a plate of homemade chocolate brownies.

Breakfast was delicious, taken either in the dining room or by the pool as we wished. Wonderful fresh fruits, cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurts, breads jams and pastries to die for.

Jan and Murray have not been doing B&B for very long, but you would never guess it, they were charming, and experts at knowing when to fuss us and when to withdraw, and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. They have an excellent wi-fi system and lots of information and maps that we were allowed to use during our stay.

Two doors away is a fab restaurant Lou Cantoun, great food excellent wines and only 2 minutes to roll home! Cestayrols whilst being a tiny village is actually well placed for all the towns in the area and there are some wonderful places to visit and explore, our only regret is that we could not stay at Chateau Cestayrols long enough, a mistake we will not make again.

We were so sad to leave, will we return, too right we will, well done Murray and Jan 10 out of 10! Nancy and David Greenway

Chateau Cestayrols acts as a B&B and is delightful. We stayed a week and wished it longer. Romantic, with a grand staircase, it is situated in a charming village with an excellent restaurant almost next door. In the heart of medieval France, there are many historic picturesque towns and villages close at hand to explore. I understand there are something like 150 vineyards close by! The hosts, Jan and Murray Turnbull, make one feel really at home and most welcome; they are always prepared to do that bit extra to ensure their guests get the most from their stay. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Chateau Cestayrols enough - it exceeded my expectations and the photos actually do not do it justice! A beautiful pale stone chateau with stunning gardens and pool nestled in the gorgeous village of Cestayrols surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers. Jan and Murray are fantastic hosts and made us feel very at home. They provided us with great breakfasts of fresh fruit, coffee and croissants and were a fountain of knowledge of the local area. Cestayrols itself is a beautiful village with a great restaurant (next-door to the Chateau) and lovely walks. It's conveniently located near the medieval towns of Gaillac, Albi and Cordes-sur-ciel. I can't wait to come again!

If you want to get off the traditional French tourist trail then head to the Tarn region of SW France.
We stayed at this wonderful chateau in the pretty village of Cestayrols, about a one hour drive from Toulouse International Airport. Cestayrols is surrounded by wonderful family run vineyards and sunflower fields (and is great for walking) and is only 20-30 minutes drive from the historic towns of Cordes-sur-Ciel and Albi.

This 15th century Chateau is owned and run by a wonderful Aussie couple Jan and Murray, who use two of the Chateau's lovely bedrooms for B&B guests. It is such a peaceful location and we
had the best night sleep in years there! This is a really lovely property (with a wonderful pool area) and is excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Our stay here as one of the first guests was a highlight of our time in France. Stunning historic chateau, spacious and light. Beautifully decorated, immaculate and modern facilities. Gardens, pool and surrounding area all delightful. Close to Gaillac, Cordes sur Ciel, Penne, Puicelci and vineyards. Lovely hosts, warm and friendly and happy to advise and inform. An idyllic stay, totally relaxing.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. We stayed in a beautiful bedroom overlooking the gardens and pool, complet...
