If you're looking for a unique place to stay with a real vibe of the Lofoten's then this is the place to stay! The Lofoten Islands are just purely magic! Just to clarify.. the name of this hostel is "Justad Rorbuer og Vandrerhjem" and is an HI affiliated hostel. The owner and host is Mr. Roar Justad and yes, he is an unusual and colorful gentleman! Very welcoming and willing to share his row boat and a few great stories of his life there. We just completely loved our stay there and meeting Roar! This has the feel of staying in an old fish camp..There are an assortment of buildings... we stayed on the second floor of the two story building. Our room was very clean and comfy.. nothing fancy by any means but just perfect for a real Lofoten experience! There are two shared bathrooms on that floor and a beautiful little shared kitchen (see the pictures that I posted). Everyone we met there was so friendly and interesting! By the way, we are in our sixties and felt very welcomed even though we are not "youth"! We took the Hurtigruten Ferry up from Trondheim (you can also come from Bodo). Hope to go back someday for a month or so! We had a car but there is an excellent bus service that runs the length of the islands and other guests had a great time using it. One other thing.. Roar does not have email or a website so if you want to book this place, you'll have to call him. You can get the phone number from the Lonely Planet website or the Hostel International (HI) website. GREAT STAY!!!
