10euros to visit a big hole in the ground along with a few hundred tourists. Only real point of interest is the fact that it erupted so recently.

It was extremely windy - not that you are to blame but felt quite exposed when walking to the the top. Feel you should be warning people hoe strong the wind is.

You can walk up to the top of the volcano, and see the depth of the crater, which last erupted about 40 years ago.
As we walked up a path, I saw a notice in a sort of recess, and as I walked towards it, translating from Spanish, I thought my legs had given way! The area (as the notice said when I translated it!) was a simulation of the start of an eruption. Clever.
The views out to sea are spectacular and there are seating areas outside with tables made of slabs of volcano lava.
Inside, there is a nice little, very reasonably priced coffeee shop, a little souvenir shop with jewellery glassware etc. The information centre has maps of all the volcanos of the island with dates of eruptions and info. But I was fascinated by a short video that ran on TV. It showed the eruptions and lava flows back in teh 70s. Exceptional because its so recent!

For €5 each you can go into the visitor centre, then climb to the top of the volcano. At the top you really get an idea of the scale of the island, and the scale of the crater. The little bushes are actually trees! At the end of the ridge there's a telescope giving you great views of the coast and the other volcanoes.
Well worth the small fee. There's a cafe and a small gift shop too.
Suitable for older kids too, but the buffeting winds would be too strong for the little ones.

Catch the 10am 203 bus from the hotel up the 6 miles to Volcano San Antonio and enjoy the amazing views as you wander along the crater. See the view down to volcano teguina -last erupted in 1971. Only 5€ entry and young kids go free. Drink coffee in one of the bars in the town and then catch the 1pm bus back down to the resort. A great morning with stunning blustery views
