Lindos Imperial Resort & Spa
Ranked #7 of 15 Hotels in Kiotari
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 15 June 2012

Making our end of may jaunt to Rhodes this year, we embarked on a weeks holiday at the Lindos Imperial hotel in Kiotari . This was a second choice, as the new Mitsis hotel in Katheana is only 65% built and we actually went and had a look, so after reading a few reviews, we plumed for the Lindos Imperial hotel. Having arrived by car hired direct via email Auto tours well recommended, we were greeted professionally and with pleasant smiles plus a few helpful hints on mealtimes etc. Please remember there are no major British holiday company reps in this hotel and is only featured on the internet, so information is limited. Our room was a family size room, with key card entry, and consisted of a bedroom with two single beds, a main bedroom with king size bed , lcd tv mini bar, loads of storage draws and wardrobes , safe and interconnecting corridor , the bathroom was large with walk in shower also a bath with shower combined also twin basins and a hair dryer , plus a small amount of hair and body products .There was an arrival bottle of red wine also cold water in the mini bar and a plate of nibbles . Please note the mini bar is not restocked so you can bring any drinks you like from the bar and store them there if you are on the A I package. The room also had good air conditioning with a large balcony and part sea view, we were on the first floor close to the lifts which was very convenient, try to get a room starting in the 3s as these are in the main building or close by .The whole complex is quite large and is stretched down a hill so strong legs are required , if you are infirm give this hotel a miss , although there are a few lifts dotted about .The main reception is quite luxurious , with the main bar and an outside seating area , with comfy chairs and panoramic views , and sunsets also on full moon nights the glow bounces off the sea giving a magical ambience .The main restaurant is on the same level . At the top of the complex is the activities pool with adult and children’s slides, the pool its self is a fair size , although not deep so be careful when coming down the slices as you can hit the bottom of the pool ouch! For toddlers there is an activities play park and a full kids club operating 6 days a week , there are things going on all day here but if you do not want to join in a simple no thank you will suffice .You can pick up your towels here and other bars , after obtaining your exchange card from reception at the cost of 10e per towel which you get back at the end of the your stay and you can change the wet ones daily .There is a large bar here which is under cover serving all drinks and light snacks all day and consist of pizzas chips ,savoury snacks breads and many different salads plus a ton of ice cream . By the main restaurant is another quieter pool and bar doing the same thing , and then down again to the relax pool which is very quiet where every one seems to read plus a bar .The beach is just beyond this with sun beds and another bar so you have a lot of diversity here .The beach its self is very coarse a mixture of gravel and sharp sand , what you would use to render buildings ,so good foot wear is recommended .The really sandy beaches are found 15 miles away at Prassoissi , this is where they wind surf and you can park on the beach , it is very shallow there and at low tide you can walk over to the island .The sea by the hotel is clear with no rubbish or nasty smells , on entering the sea you go out 10 ft and you are up to your neck so no shallow bathing here . There is a couple of third party Company’s focusing on water sports of all natures, I don’t know any prices I didn’t enquire. As
Far as nightly entertainment is concerned , the amphitheater is situated behind the top pool where shows go on from 9 to around 1130 pm .The usual fire eaters ,dancers , acrobats ,and singers ,basically Britain’s got talent Greek style, and another small bar underneath that doubles as a small night club although the music seems 70s/80s disco . You are issued with the usual wrist band on the all inclusive package, the British have a green one, the French and German have light blue and the eastern block have dark blue and you will see plenty of those, some times you think you are in the hotel Moscow .I think a lot has changed here as the hotel has been open for only 5 years .It use to be an ibrostar and possibly catered for more British etc ,now Lindos hotels group own it now so I think the tables have turned . Don’t get me wrong this is a lovely hotel which is kept spotless by hard working Greeks. Towels changed every day and sheets, a team of cleaners, and gardeners, the bar staff who are very friendly all make a difference. Please remember the British please and thank you it does go down a storm, the Greeks have to put up with a lot and I mean a lot from our counterparts, plus it gets your face remembered and served quicker with good measures of drinks, which are a fair quality. There are imported drinks but they will cost you. I must mention the variety of food on offer which is of a good standard , you can get near to a full English breakfast even porridge ! ,plus all the healthy stuff for the figure conscious ,really a good selection .A word of warning at the end of the meal allotted times every thing is whist away so fast as if it was being sucked into a vortex , so be there at the times stated .The lunch time and evening times varies in choice , for me a complete carnivore with meat , to my one daughter who is a vegetarian so all bases covered , and if you like puddings , well I think everyone put on weight also basic wines and beer are on hand .Waitress service is there and a lot of help your self mainly by word of mouth look for the green bracelets. There is no real complex map just coloured boards showing where something’s are located so exploring is the norm .Its worth a mention there is an indoor pool and a well stocked gym which is free of charge , the only extras are any therapy’s that you have but these are not pressed upon you . The average massage is 40e also if you want to get your hair cut that will set you back 25e , so drive a mile down the road and get it done for 10e . The doctors call out is120e but you obviously claim back on your insurance. Also on the lower ground there are two shops selling clothing and gifts etc my wife brought a dress from there and remarked it was well tailored and keenly priced, they do sell newspapers but no British ones. If you choose to dine in one of the themed restaurants which is the same place for all dishes you have to book one day in advance, you have an Asian and an Italian evening this is based under the main restaurant and is far more relaxing than the bun fight upstairs. The dishes are a variation on what’s upstairs plus extras .There is an opportunity to have a proper Greek meal on a al a carte menu this is at a cost of 25e per head. There was a family there who had just got married and they commented how good the steaks and other dishes where and different from the usual .The hotel is a little remote but not as remote as some hotels. A car is a must to visit the rest of the island , there is no problem if you are a fairly confident driver, and Rhodes town is no more busier than any other British city, also all the petrol station have attendants so you don’t even have to get out of your car .Car hire can be book at the hotel with cars readily available outside the front door .Having not visited Rhodes for nearly nine years we found Lindos the same which is 5 miles away but Rhodes town these days is looking a little worn with a mass of fur shops everywhere . I would recommend the Lindos Imperial hotel , it has all the amenity for the family and senior folk but not the hotel for the 18 to 30 club, you do however have to have a mental barrier here and ignore the Rambo behavioural attitude and mannerisms of the farm yard folk with some of our eastern counterparts , in many ways the wasting of food and other antics would be enough to feed a third world country, I would also think that may and a few weeks either side is not the best time to visit . I was told by a Russian lady from an affluent part of Moscow that we were in oil and gas factory shut down month and she wished she had visited at a different time so enough said. All in all we spent a pleasant week with friends from the north from whom we met up with again and had a laugh. A note while writing this account, my wife found that she had left a pair of leather shoes in our room, I emailed the hotel to see if they had found them and asked what costs they wanted to return to the uk .We were pleasantly surprised to receive an email from them to say they had located the shoes and would send them back FREE OF CHARGE now that’s worth an extra star, well done Lindos Imperial hotel .Regards

Room Tip: Have a room away from the amphitheater so to reduce late night noise .

We stayed in September 2011, as a couple. The rooms are large, fully equipped and are cleaned on daily basis. Pretty much what you can expect at a 5 stars hotel in the Greek islands. The restaurant was great. Plenty of very good food, with option of choosing Asian food in the two first nights and Italian food in the next two. Food and restaurants are definitely one of the strong pros of the resort. The swimming pool are also great. The activity pool has some very nice slides which are great for the kids.

One thing which we did not like was the pebbles beach. Not very nice at all. Could not understand how come the beach was sandy 500 meters left to the Lindos Imperial's beach. For that reason, we chose to stay at the swimming pool. There is a very nice sandy beach at a 25 minutes' walk but we thought it was too far to go there more than two times. Also, there isn't much night life or places to go in the area, so most of the time we stayed in the resort.

We rented a car one day and went to Rhodes. The trip was very nice.

Bottom line, excellent hotel for relaxation with very good restaurant and swimming pools. The beach is not very nice and there aren't too many places to go out in the area. Would recommend it for families with children.

we stayed there for 7 nights at the end of august and it was an interesting holiday. we traveled a lot so I can't really say plenty of things about the resort.

our room was comfortable, near the restaurant, we loved the pools and the beach, except for the stones. it was a variety of food, I liked the salads and pastas and also the sweets.

regarding the entertainment, the disco was awful, every night same music, I talked with the guys and asked them to put some more types of music not only clubbing, so we had 2 night with nice music.

per total, for us was a great holiday, because with made is so. and I have an advice: Everywhere you go, you can have surprises, but the most important is to "Enjoy your holiday"

Beautifully appointed hotel, we had a great time. We had a superior room and couldn't fault it, lovely furnishings, very big and clean and a superb view. Hotel is well run by such hard working staff, we found them all helpful and cheerful. Having researched it thoroughly BEFORE BOOKING, it was obvious that it was miles from anywhere but as we didn't want to leave this wasn't a problem for us. Swimming pools are lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Relax pool was my favourite, there are always the few that insist on taking their kids in there but thankfully they got bored pretty quickly. There are signs in all languages asking for silence but people always seem to think their own darling children are exempt and that everyone else is as enraptured by their squealing as they are. There are very few English guests but I prefer that. Guests are mostly Russian but get your elbows out at the bar and you won't have a problem. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to superior

We stayed at the Lindos Imperial at the end of September, the hotel was as beautiful as we had seen in the photos, it is well maintained.
This was our first experience of All Inclusive and we were pleased with the variety of the food at lunch and dinner and we enjoyed all the food we tried. At breakfast there was a lot of choice although it was the same every day.
Would recommend the 'free' themed night in the downstairs restaurant as the food was delicious and it had a different atmosphere to it, with candlelit tables and being sat by the pool.
The hotel has 3 pool areas and we spent most of our time around the main pool, The activity pool has water slides which were definitely a big bonus as there were children within our party (i think the grown men had as much fun as the children lol) the children's play area is also lovely.
The room was tidied every day and the view we had was beautiful as it was the sea view as we had requested.
The staff were all friendly and polite, and made us feel very welcome over our 2 week stay, particularly by the pool in the day and the staff in the bar at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The only reason we didn't give this hotel 5 stars is due to the location, it became expensive to travel to any surrounding areas, and there is nothing within walking distance for a change of scenery, drinks in a bar for example.
Otherwise we would return to this hotel.

Room Tip: request the sea view, it was beautiful looking out whilst lying on the bed

We booked this hotel last year when it was still owned by Iberostar. We were very sceptical when we found it had been sold, but kept up to date with the reviews on Tripadvisor, which seemed quite positive, so we went with an open mind Unfortunately, we found it very disappointing! Don't get me wrong, we still had a lovely holiday, but it just lacked the little "touches" that we have previously experienced with Iberostar . The staff were very friendly, the food good, but the hotel was tired and in need of updating. The hotel is also very disjointed, with the entertainment a long distance from the main restaurant and bars. The entertainment was also very poor. They were all very nice and obviously worked very hard, but they all acted the fool, rather than providing good entertainment! It is most certainly not a 5 star hotel, more a 3 star plus. Hardly any English, not that that's a problem, but lots of French, Itialian and Russian. Overall, if it hadn't been for the gorgeous weather, it would have been dreadful.

We spent 11 nights in Lindos Imperial (56 km from Rhodes town). Transfer from Diagoras airport took around 2 h (roads not great..large portions under construction..average speed of the bus was 45-50 km/h ).

The hotel is somehow isolated, the closest resort is Lardos (approx 5 km), and then Lindos (approx 15 km). We took a trip to Lindos by boat (approx 50 minutes), which proved to be a very good ideea, as the view was fantastic.

We had all inclusive, the meals are reasonable, but not much variety. Beverages included (mineral water, soft drinks, beer, white/rose/red wine). Be aware that 5 stars hotels in Greece are alike 4 stars elsewhere in Europe. Staff was nice, but not always well organised.

The beach is large. The water is very clear and clean, although there are stones.
Overall, it was a good ideea to select this hotel. It is suitable for families with kids.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms around pools. It is too noisy.
