“The vacation of my life at Mitsis Rodos Maris”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

How will i start? I came there white as milk, didn't know a word Greek and was wondering where did i arrive, will it be nice here, how will the people be towards me.... Well, i can only say this: NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE ACCEPTED ME IN THEIR HEARTS ! They made me feel at home, even BETTER than home! Those people were working so hard to make sure that i had everything what i needed. They even tried to have a chat with me (if they could find the time between twoo orders for other people). Always working with a smile on their face! Always trying to help everyone If they can. All the personel from that Hotel were giving the very best of themselves ! Some even SURPASSED that! (Here are some of those; Landa & Nikos were making sure you were served properly and that you were extra comfortable at the gelateria. Landa was like a caring mother making sure everyone got their beverages on time and the way the like it, while Nikos was serving them as fast as he could. Manolis was tending the big bar also with a smile and always a friendly word for everyone, and for me he helped me learning to speak some greek :) and i appreciated that a lot! Then in the diningroom, there was the cook Pavlos, who cooked my bacon nice and crispy, just the way i like it. While he was doing that, he ALSO helped me out with my greek learning. And always that friendlyness is there just like with all the other people i am mentioning here. It was just like i went to paradise. Next person that i want to nominate is the waitor Vasilis, who works in the big diningroom in the morning and in the evening in the Greek restaurant. Just like the persons i mentioned before, he also exeeded in friendlyness and extreme professionalism ! This is the reason why i write their names on here, so that other people can see that i didn't lie. Now next on my list are a group of people. I'm talking about the ANIMATION crew from the hotel, guided by their chief Alex. They made my stay very nice . They made it so that i like sports now especially waterpolo LOL. Paolo was the driving force for that, with his twoo teams, the Ninja's and "the Spicegirls" . I don't know where he took that name but it was funny , especially when you know that the team were all male :). The game even made me some new friends from France, England, Germany, Sweden, etc etc... Next on the animationteam, i have to talk about the master choreographer BOB. With his african boold in his vains, he guided his team in nice dance shows, with fantastic ritmen, that made you feel like dancing too.
And now the others from the animationteam i also want to mention are Babs, with her IQ quiz, Bea the dancing princess, The funny Tony, The sportive Radik, The kiss-me girl for the kids (Nicole i think), Christy the newbie, they all made my stay a supperb at the Rodos Maris.
I almost forgot to mention, that my room was clean and tidy every day!! When i came back from the pool, trip or the beach, i always had a spotless room to come back too.
If you are looking for a good hotel to stay, well; LOOK NO FURTHER and go there !

Room Tip: The rooms near the pool are practical, but a bit noisy. The comfort stays the same .

Just returned from a week's holiday in Mitsis Rodos Resort and have had a lovely week! Resort was plenty big enough not to feel claustrophobic staying in one place, rooms were very comfortable and we got an unexpected sea view from our balcony.

Food was reasonable, queue for chocolate pancakes was totally worth it, and if you go early enough the queues are non-existent. Loved being able to have fresh greek salad and fruit every day, hot food could get a bit repetitive if you eat in main restaurant all week, but Greek restaurant is definitely a must (although book early on in your stay). Italian restaurant was another buffet, but nice to have change of scenery.

Hotel has 3 pools, one of which is a bit quieter if you don't want to be next to the pool bar and the animation team. Evening entertainment was a bit mixed, but sketch show was the funniest thing we saw all week. There's plenty of seating around the resort and plenty of places to get drinks, and generally pleasant to walk around, including the 30 second walk to the beach.

There isn't a lot else in Kiotari itself, but local buses go from outside the hotel so you can easily get to Lindos and Rhodes Town to see the sights.

Would highly recommend hotel for a relaxing Greek break, can imagine it would be uncomfortably busy in peak season but really good value for Easter trip away.

As the title says, the animation team made the holiday. Thanks to Bob, Alex, Paulo, Nicole, Tony, Christine, Babs, Bea, Radek and the rest who went out of their way to look after us and our boys. That said, the rooms were more 3 star than 5 star as per other reviews and reception staff a mixed bunch who really need training in excellent customer service.

What a waste of time away from home. I've travelled a lot around the world and especially in Greece and I often choose all inclusive holidays because I like mainly to relax and do absolutely nothing on my holidays. Once you have the key you are on your own. Reception staff were the most unkind, unwilling to help and uptight people I've met in the tourism industry. There were no information leaflets in the tacky decorated reception (black cheap leather armchairs everywhere!!!) apart from the hotel's, privately owned I assume, car rental company that had a whole desk installed just at the reception area. The room was very basic, equivalent to a 3 star accommodation. and I'm being nice. It was a struggle to get a coffee or even to eat as there were huge queues to the main restaurant and for the other restaurants you needed a reservation one day in advance at best. Not to mention the fizzy (not so much) softdrinks and the most disgusting unshaked cocktails I've ever tasted. It seems that the only thing that works there is the underpaid, overworked restaurant and service staff who worked all of the 7 days that I stayed there from morning to night, at times I had to eat fast and leave the restaurant because I felt bad for them, I've noticed they tried to hide this by rotating them. Hotel facilities are not capable to host the number of hotel guests staying there, I don't even want to think how it feels when it's fully booked! It was a nightmare, I've had more relaxing days in my own city at its most hectic hours. My suggestion, wherever you go, don't choose Mitsis, it spoils the beauty of Greece. I will have to agree with another guest's review and choose their moto, "Mitsis, Miss it".

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the swimming pool.

Recently stayed here as a couple for 7 days, overall this is an excellent hotel for the money you spend.

This hotel is clean, tidy and has great staff who offer excellent, friendly service. We stayed in one of the bungalows which was admittedly a little dated, but you benefit from being away from the main hotel area so is a little quieter.

Our main (and only) issue with the hotel is that when at full capacity there are too many people for the main dining area with not a lot of alternatives, especially for lunch. When busy you can find yourself waiting a lot at the bar and the main buffet.

On the whole, amazing value for money, would recommend for couples and families alike.

Having travelled all over the world, with & without kids, I can say with certainty that this was one of the best buildings I have strayed in. Take a bow architect! What a building, which must be even more beautiful when all the planting is finished and flourishing after a long winter. There is a view of the sea from almost everywhere, the design was innovative and really beautiful inside and out. Lots of steps but lots of ramps and a lift also – expected as hotel is on a hill.
We were the first guests this season, which may account for some of the hiccups (see below and previous review) but in general the pluses far outweighed the negatives
- The hotel itself is immaculate and really beautiful
- Lovely functioning toilets that accepted toilet paper (worried myself sick about it being different)
- We all loved the food, lots of variety, local (and spaghetti, chips etc for the unadventurous) – had to leave a lot for want of space and now have to fast cos I feel so stuffed! Hot tea was hit or miss in the main dining hall but got hot cups everywhere else all over the hotel. Don’t bother with the Chinese restaurant that suffers from the same problems all these “speciality” outfits have (and I’ve tried them all over the world, inc Jamiaca); average and bland fare served up by locals. Why eat Chines food in a Greek hotel restaurant? So saying the maître d, was magnificent and had staff well organised
- Didn’t get to the Greek restaurant so can’t comment – confused thou, why is there a speciality Greek restaurant in Greece when we were already eating Greek food in the main restaurant?
- Facilities available for families with children are incredible and made the holiday for the 2 children we travelled with (and by extension us). The Animation Team are fantastic at their jobs and always aim to involve everyone in their activities day and night (hardly saw the kids who were made to feel very special). Lots of French spoken cos the majority of guests were French; fair enough I thought. English was spoken and anyway and all the kids seemed to understand what was going on and it did not stop them participating in everything with gusto.
- Did I mention the fantastic view, esp of the sea? Pebbly beach, but lovely and within the grounds of the hotel. Lots of loungers, tidy beach with drinks and food readily available
- Bar and other staff were very friendly.
- The main lobby staff did suffer a bit from an inability to work under pressure and without direction (especially when what seemed to be a thousand people all turned up at the same time for lunch and outside eating area was not used)) I noticed however that problem quickly resolved when the hotel manager stepped in, roping the magnificent Chinese restaurant manager in and kicking butt). Suspect everyone has learned from that and that the experience will not be repeated
- We liked the place because it was quiet but this is the start of the season and it may get less quiet – check out future reviews. Wonderful place for people with kids (ours were 12 and 13) but also great for my neighbours a couple with an adult daughter. .
Down points?
- Wonderful bathroom spoiled by shower heads ( we swapped to a larger room) that do not fit the shower bracket without contortions or hand holding. Shower door and placing of shower bracket means that water gets everywhere
- Internet – for 5 days the service was wonderful. Terrible when hotel was full or maybe when management got its website going at which point dreadful until I discovered late that that there was 2 hours free internet access every day which was more than enough for me. Hotel staff (and some of the savvy youngsters) did not know this, maybe to force us to pay? Tip – Find the free Rodos Maris Free address and then go into your browser and click the free service box on the right
- Spa prices too expensive for most and my suspicions about the ability to deliver the breadth of selections were confirmed by the previous review
- Some sort of flood during heavy rain, quickly sorted
My views? – lobby service and shower stops it from being full 5 star but hotel defiantly is I’ll be going back next year, if my daughter had anything to do with it!

Room Tip: Twin room not big enough for families with older children - chose a family room. Rooms near the chil...

Pools
Was very clean and cold but after you had got over the shock it was refreshing.Games and music played which were fun but if you wanted to be in a quiet area there was the smaller pool. The slides were very good,a big one for adults and older aged children and a little one for the younger ages.Water gym was very good, that was my exercise for the holiday. There was also an indoor pool so if the outside one was too cold you could in the indoor one.

Staff
The staff were lovely, very helpful and were very funny. What ever mood you were in they would put a smile on your face.Animation team were great, were very good with the kids and would make sure your ok and having fun.Would try to get you to join in the games and maybe dance on the evening.Reception staff were very helpful told up all about the things we could do,car renting and how to get to places.

Rooms
Rooms were very tidy and were cleaned every day in good condition. The rooms had good quality television and air conditioning.Beautiful views out of the rooms some had sea views. The fridge was filled every 2 days and you got your toiletries every day if needed.

Food
The food was ok,for me the Greek was the best restaurant and the Italian was the best for lunch. The breakfast was satisfactory,Chinese weren't so good and in the main restaurant was the same food every day so you got a bit fed up with the selection.Book the Greek in advance as it gets very booked up.Got free ice creams which was good all ages loved it.

Beach
The beach wasn't all that. The beach had very little sand and the rest was just stones which hurt your feet. The beach bar was good and the water sports was brilliant. The sun beds were close to the sea so you had a close eye on the kids. The sea was very clear and wasn't that cold, was a good temperature to cool down in.The canoes were free so you go canoeing whenever.

Overall
Weren't a very good time to go because there weren't a lot to do because it weren't in season. The weather was lovely very hot rained twice when we was there though. We still got to go horse riding on the beach though and donkey ride up to the castle in Lindos.Lindos was beautiful there was lovely little gift shops and an ice bar where everything was made of ice.Rhodes town was good aswell shops there like ones you would get in England there was even a McDonald's and Starbucks there.A regular bus took you to those places from the hotel.Night entertainment was great couldn't have been better.Different things each night so you didn't get bored, sometimes they would want volunteers or just let you relax and watch the show.Good row of shops at the hotel and an arcade with a massage chair.Tennis court was good, very well spaced and clean. The spa was too expensive this was the only bad thing seeing as I was looking forward to a relaxing treatment.
