Stayed for a week, Half aboard, in Jun 18; clean, well decorated, good size room and amenities (fridge, kettle (no tea/coffee, take your own), hair dryer, shower and separate bath, robes (too hot in the summer), slippers (paper thin!) large balcony, quiet air con, black out curtains), with amazing uninterrupted view of the valley/mountains, and the quaint sound of goat bells tinkerling from the hills behind.

Beach towels provided, (deposit 5€ each). Safe in room, with deposit needed for key. Bedding and towels changed regularly.

Plentiful selection of food at breakfast and dinner. water is not provided at dinner so if water is wanted, then a bottle of water needs to be purchased at dinner (which works out fairly expensive over 7 nights). Dress code for men (long trousers), wasn't vigorously enforced and seemed a little pointless, when there's women wearing very short, shorts/short denim skirts etc.... think it would be more appropriate to simply state smart dress code expected for all guests dining in the restaurant. Noticed at the end of our stay, balcony tables with mountain views were being "reserved" at dinner, which we hadn't seen on arrival, and I would suggest that's not a great thing to start doing.

Three lovely pools to choose from, all clean and with plentiful sun beds and umbrellas. Again, noticed at the end of our stay, people were "reserving" Sunbeds with their towels before breakfast... this needs to be stopped before everyone starts doing it.... there no need to, as there's lots of beds for all.

Booked return transfer direct on Filion website (£90. Approx); driver wasn't waiting for us where he said he would be, we thought we had been forgotten! Would suggest checking details of your return transfer day before you leave, as we witnessed another guest's transport hadn't turned up on time, and we had issues receiving simple confirmation of our pick up time.

Due to its relatively remote location, you may wish to hire a car to explore further afield. We did this through the hotel (3 days hire VW Polo from Rentacar in Bali was 100€ - car had seen better days and there was no pre hire/return checks which explains the state of the car ;). It got us around, so no complaints, but if you want a better quality car, it may be best to look elsewhere and pay more).

All staff were very friendly, welcoming and worked hard. Miri and Maria in the pool bar were stars :) The reception staff were at times extremely busy, usually in the morning and evening, and sometimes only one staff on the desk meant they were desperately trying to deal with different guests and their numerous enquiries, all at the same time, which for us, unfortunately led to a promised task, not being done (Not the end of the world, but not great for us as customers). We did suggest on the feedback form that additional staff on reception might be a good idea, (but this was defensively dismissed by the owner). Customer service and satisfaction may suffer if this is not rectified.

We visited the hotel's sister Restaurant, Mythos, in Bali for dinner one night; get a voucher from reception which gives you a free meal, you only pay for drinks. George was a very friendly and attentive host, and the food extremely plentiful... so much so, we couldn't eat it all!!! Would suggest making prior arrangements for getting back to the hotel, as when we rang for a taxi, we were told the only one was at the airport, which meant a very long, hot, hilly walk back to the hotel in flip flops at 1130pm in the dark, which we didn't expect to do, especially having eaten so much food too!!!

All in all, we had a very enjoyable, chilled, relaxing time. Which was much appreciated. As others have mentioned, maybe not a 5*, more 4*, but still good value for money and I would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms away from the restaurant

We arrived at the hotel a 12 midnight and was offered a meal straight away which I thought was really good as we had been traveling all day. But then things took a turn . We were shown to our room which was possibly one of the worst rooms I’ve ever seen with a view from the balcony of a wall , not good. We mentioned to the night person that we had booked a suite and that it had been booked for 4 months. was told the “hotel was fully booked “and that we “needed to talk “ to the manager in the morning. This was not the start we wanted. In the morning I went straight to the manager and was told a mistake had happened and our room would be ready at 9. It did make me wonder ?

As for the Suite we booked and got eventually, I can’t complain. Nice size , nice Decor and a great view over a pool and the mountains. The suite also came with a nice sized balcony.

The staff are really nice and polite, try and use a little Greek, this goes down well .

Meals are a buffet which was really good . If you have a sweet tooth you’ll love the desserts. And breakfast was enjoyable as well . A Tip for the Gentleman( trousers are NOT optional for Dinner ) which was fine with us . If you are a vegetarian don’t worry there are more than enough for you to eat .

Shuttle bus to Bali through the day, but this can end up being a little bit of a scrum and you may be left behind. You might want to consider car hire.

Entertainment on a night , but if your here for more than a week you will see some acts more than once .

Enough sun beds for everyone, and three pools.
And the hotel has a shop for you to buy a few extras .

I did enjoy my stay at this hotel. Would I come again , maybe ? This hotel is not in my opinion a 5 star, but saying that it was still good value for money .

Peaceful! Restful! Great food! Spotlessly clean! Wonderful staff! In particular Miri on the bar! Maria who works with a smile all over the whole hotel. Antonia on reception who doubles as the driver. And Elvik I think his name is was in the restaurant. Iv never been to a hotel where the staff are always happy. Being in customer service myself I find this incredible and very refreshing! I will 100% be going back!
If I had to give any advice it would be to hire a car as getting around can be a bit difficult but not impossible. I mean the hotel advertises the bus on a first come first serve basis but if it was full they always sent another one. Happy days!

This was a last minute holiday from our frenetic business so were looking for a hotel which would be peaceful, have good food, and easily accessible to other areas in Crete. Having visited Crete many times over the years, we had a good idea of the location of the hotel, which, due to the shuttle bus service, provides easy access to travel east or west, without the need for a car. The lovely beach in Bali is a distance from the hotel, however the frequency of the shuttle bus ensures that access is not a problem. Our bedroom was larger than would normally be expected with good bathroom facilities and large balcony with views to the hills and the coast.
We arrived in the middle of the night having had a 3 hr flight delay, but this was not a problem for the night manager who welcomed us profusely and immediately offered food in the form of either an early breakfast or dinner. We realised we were hungry and chose dinner, which was served promptly in the quiet restaurant. Our first thoughts were, this is great food even at 3.00 am, which was definitely a sign of better things to come. Breakfasts are excellent, with plenty of choice - would certainly recommend the omelettes! Dinner is even better with plenty of traditional Greek food available, which is exactly what we wanted. The service in the restaurant was excellent and we were very well looked after by Ervis.
There is a large swimming pool and some slightly smaller ones - plenty of choice and plenty of sunbeds. There is a small play area suitable for young children but nothing suitable for older children which meant that mainly families with small children were staying at the hotel.
We did use the spa and had an excellent massage.
Although the hotel is built on a hillside which means there are quite a lot of steps, there is a good lift service.
We had a wonderful holiday here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to others, in fact, we have already done so!

This was our first visit to Crete and the Filion Suites Resort. We had a great time and were very impressed with the hotel. The staff we met were all delightful - professional, efficient, friendly and great ambassadors for the hotel. I would particularly like to mention Georgia and Antonia in Reception, Ervis and Alexis in the restaurant and Ponia. who cleaned our room each day.
The location of the hotel suited us well. Tucked into the hills, it is secluded and quiet. We had decided to hire a car for the week, so we could see more of the island, but there is a free shuttle bus provided by the hotel, which will take you to a nearby beach if you wish. Otherwise, it is about a 45- 1 hour walk down to the village or beach.
Our room was spacious, clean and had the added bonus of a large balcony, which we enjoyed. There are various pools - one large for adults and several smaller ones for the children. We didn't use the pool bar, but in the evening, entertainment was provided there - we usually listened from our balcony.
The restaurant was very impressive - a great selection of dishes in buffet style eating. You are spoilt for choice. Everything was fresh - we especially enjoyed our freshly cooked omelettes at breakfast and the desserts were amazing! We had half board there, which was perfect. We just used to have an icecream at some point during the day and that bridged the gap between breakfast and dinner, as the food was so plentiful.
The hotel is clean, modern, tastefully designed - eating out on the covered verandah of the restaurant was always lovely, as you had views of the valley and hills opposite. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel to you and I am sure will be back ourselves in the future.
Thank you for a wonderful stay Filion Suites.
