“Just perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2012

I can only endorse the positive comments by other reviewers, it was wonderful. I particularly liked the fact that all four swimming pools seemed to have a different theme. . An Olympic size one for serious swimmers, an activity pool for music and fun, a quiet one for couples and one near the beach was a mix of the others. I don't know if this was intentional but that's how it seemed. They all catered for children. The grounds are vast which means there can be a lot of walking to the beach or restaurant, but no problem for most people.
Yes the hotel is away from things but not so far it is cut off. We walked to Mastachari in about 45 minutes along the beach and caught a ferry to the island of Kalymnos.
There's a great taverna along the way to Mastachari, called Tan Tan. it has great view, good choice of food and a lively atmosphere for lunch.
For most of our stay we were "the only Brits in the village!", most of the others being German. The Euro football was on And everyone was very civilised about losing. We went to see Mama Mia at the open air theatre. It was of course in German, but who doesn't know the words to dancing queen. Only difference was that no one got up to dance to it!!
All the staff were very friendly and I can't wait to return next year.

this is clearly a great 5* star resort. Very nice architecture, beautiful gardens, great service, fantastic pools, including olympic size pool (we loved it) and all sizes of smaller pools, down to a 20-40cm paddle for kids with extra attractions like water slides and fountains. There is also kids club with variety of activities for 5+ years (mostly in German) and toddler play area (very nice). Almost every day there is mini-disco and evening entertainment. once a fortnight a live band plays near the taverna until late - very beautiful...

food was amazing, buffet style but versatile and really tasty.. unfortunately there is no All-inclusive option and lunch is served in two separate restaurants :Greek taverna and italian. While again food is delicious there - there is nothing to eat for kids but pizza or spagetti.. the rest of the kids menu is unfortunately tasteless chicken or fishfingers, more in line with 2* place.. So if you have older kids who can eat variety of pastas and salads or greek specialties - no problem at all.. with 1-4 years olds - it is pizza and spagetti over and over again... that is actually the only negative thing about this place..

the beach is nice, sandy, ideal for building castles, there is enough beach /pool bars serving drinks/coffees/ice cream/etc. there is actually a lovely galeteria in place with fantastic ice cream as well as mini-market on the ground.

We had an executive apartment which was actually huge and very nice.. also nicely located next to the mid-sized pool, taverna and beach.

oh, and last point. this was a great vacation and the whole family loved it. but because it is not all-inclusive, there was a large bill at the end of the stay for all the extras.

Room Tip: Family rooms are close the the kids club and pool

German-owned so more than 90% of guests are German. The hotel and rooms are very nice and perfectly clean. The level of service is very high. The hotel itself and its gardens are beautiful but there's nothing really around the hotel. You need to rent a bike/car to see anything.

It's situated right on the beach, the sea is clean. The beach is sandy and thus there is virtually no life to be seen under the water near the beach. So no snorcheling.

Lots of food to choose from but after a week you might consider it to be a bit boring - it's mostly the same. But the hotel also has a couple of a la carte restaurants so you don't have to eat from the buffet all the time.

we had a very good time.

The Hotel is in a great location on the island and has its own excellent beach. The resort is spacious and clean. Even in August there were no crowds or crazy queues, no scrabbling for sunbeds as the hotel actively stops residents reserving them.
The hotel is dominated by Germans which makes it all the better, everyone is so civilised and well mannered.
Can't fault staff or food. For half board residents you can choose from some excellent on site restaurants with a 50% discount.
There's great on site car hire and every part of the island is accessible in 20-30mins from Neptune.

This hotel is great! The teeny club is the best that i've ever seen. Don't be fooled, the teeny club isn't for toddlers or 'teeny people' but for teenagers. We had a fantastic time here and hope that you ignore the bad reviews.

My compliaments to the hotel manager, we loved this place, the teeny club staff were friendly and helpful. In fact all of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Be kind to the staff and don't make things difficult for them, they are kind people.

The Neptune is probably one of the best hotels in the Mediterranean. Constant improvement of the site guarantees a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Although the food at the main buffet restaurant is quite good, it is not that Greek - for most visitors, this seems to be rather attractive, but we like to add a Greek restaurant like Old Pyli to our daily routine, especially when staying one or two weeks.

The Neptune offers a 50m pool and a heated indoor 25m pool (besides two other pools), and as such, is great for anyone wanting to do a good swim. They also have a Badminton court, Squash and tennis facilities.

On the side of criticism, we still don't like the other restaurants on the estate. Especially the Greek taverna is a catastrophe, and we cannot recommend eating there. There were also some issues with some waiters, but most are excellent and do their best job. All in all a very good hotel, if a bit expensive!
