Excelent hotel - place looks as small paradise. Very friendly staff, superior animation team managed by Anie. Delicios food. Place dedicated for families, because of country side location.

Just returned from a week at the Creta Marine. It was a great hotel for a family. It was clean and the staff were very friendly. The food was good, too good!! Rooms a good size, shower a little temperamental but always hot water. How this hotel would rate in high season and full to capacity I wouldn't like to say but there always sun beds available around the resort whilst we were there. The cliental was mainly French and German but that certainly wasn't a problem for us, in fact it was quite refreshing. Most people where on all inclusive, we opted for H/B which suited us as we visited near by friends for lunch/dinner during our stay but I have to say it didn't have that A/I feel to it, nobody over indulging, and with waiter service, no people queuing at the beer pump!! If your looking for an action packed resort then this will not be for you. They have some evening entertainment and the staff are trying very hard to please, especially with the children. The nearest village is about a 40 minute walk away, so you would need to take a taxi to it or to get further afield. I felt that a week was about just right for us, two and I may have gone a little stir crazy. If your thinking of booking independently as we did it is certainly worth considering, I booked direct for 8 nights, 2 adults 1 child in double garden room at is cost 642 euro for all of us, incredible value. Will definitely be returning.

Our first visit to Crete and after arriving on an overcast day with very few people about we began to doubt if this was such a good choice of hotel - but how wrong we were!
The Creta Marine was a wonderful hotel and we had a lovely week, helped by wall-to-wall sunshine.
Our room was a bungalow with sea view balcony, freshly decorated and spotlessly clean.
A bottle of wine and treats welcomed us on arrival, plus there was a complimentary mini bar in the room for all-inclusive guests.
Often typical of continental hotels however, the beds are very hard, with thin pillows, which is not to everyones liking.
There is also a charge for the room safe of 24 Euros/week, which I totally disagree with paying extra for at any hotel. This should be a standard inclusive item in a room, as for example, the air conditioning.

The Hotel grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained and laid out with plenty of space and a couple of decent sized pools to choose from. Staff were constantly around keeping the place tidy and were very friendly.
The beaches are small, man-made lagoons formed by concrete jetties and sea defences.
There is a charge for sun beds on the beaches before 3pm.

The food was excellent with plenty of choice each day. The restaurant and bar staff were very attentive, pleasant and efficient. No tummy troubles.
The animation team were probably the best we have seen in a European resort. Krassi, Boris and the gang were great at organising games and activities during the day for those who wanted to join in and the evening shows were usually highly entertaining and humorous.
The hotel is not near any centres for shopping or sightseeing so we took the bus to Rethymnon a couple of times. This costs 4 Euros return, takes about 40 minutes and is well worth doing to get out for a while. The bus service is every 30 minutes ('ish) and picks-up directly outside the hotel, although drop-off coming back is 1/4 mile further down the road.

Overall, we had a relaxing time and would highly recommend the Creta Marine.

In a few words, everything was perfect to spend nice holidays: food, sun, swimming-pools, beach and sea, bedrooms, and pleasant and polite staff in the hotel. The most significant was the possibility to speak French rather often, which is not a simple detail for me and my parents. Thank you again. Sébastien Ducatel.

I would highly recommend this hotel. You are probably reading lots of reviews and are looking to book the right hotel, book this one is all I have to say. We stayed in a beautiful bungaloo overlooking the sea, the room was lovely, towels were changed twice a day. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and some snacks. The hotel has lots of pools to choose from and also the beach and the coves which you can walk along, for a relaxing stroll. The main pool area has got come high octane games at various times during the day which are a lot of fun e.g crazy games, aquaaerobics and volleyball, but if that isn't your thing you can easily get away from it and relax somewhere else. The food was great - really varied. However, it will be a change of diet for most as the food is quite oily so bring some tablets if you get an upset stomach easily. The staff were so genuinely friendly and obliging, eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The animation team were great - fantastic dancers and comedians especially Boris and Krassi! There was a nice roof top bar where you could have drinks in the evening and there sometimes was live Greek music which was very good and created a lovely atmosphere. The main nationalities were French and German, there were fewer English, Belgians and Russians. All in all, the other guests were very nice and frienly too. I would say this is generally a calm hotel with a lot of couples and families with well-behaved children. I believe Creta Panorma has more families.
If you want to be taken care of, go there. However I believe the hotel can get quite full in peak season so I would say the best time to go is off-peak.

Room Tip: I viewed rooms in the main hotel which were very nice and overlooked the front of the hotel and gard...

We stayed at Iberostar Creta marine between 4-11th May and had a wonderful time. Iberostar creta marine and panorama lie adjacent to each other and creta marine definitely looked like the bigger, better one. Location wise, it is slightly far from the city centre (about 30 mins on a bus that arrives at the hotel every one hour) but that worked to our advantage since we wanted a peaceful place.

There are lots of young families but many couples too, both young and old. There is so much happening at the hotel that it is very hard to get bored. Most people can be found at the pool pretty much the entire day, sparing meal times and that makes the area fun and lively. There are lots of interesting pool side activities and competitions in the morning and afternoon and an hour long entertainment show daily after dinner. My husband won one such competition and we were offered a complimentary bottle of champagne. Lovely gesture from the staff.

The hotel is massive with several pools, big and small, some private to specific apartments and others open to all. There are three coves around the property where sun loungers come for a charge before 3 p.m. but we found them a little secluded and dull. Rooms are clean; ours had a small reception area, a good sized bathroom, big room and a sea facing balcony. The views were slightly blocked by the dome of the main building hall, but that did not bother us much since we were out the entire time.

The front office staff is extremely helpful and offers great advice for travel and eating out options. Not once during the stay did we feel that the staff was overly selling their own services as is often the case with most hotels. We asked for a late check out and they happily offered us the room till 2 p.m. while the usual check out time was 12 noon.

We had a half board package and we went out to the Rethymnon city centre most days for lunch(the bus stops right infront of the hotel for the outward journey and slightly ahead of it while coming back, the return fare is 4 euros). Much closer to the hotel on the way is Platanias with its long strech of tavernas, pizzerias and cafes (2.40 return ticket). A cute white train that stops right at the hotel entrance takes you to the village of Panormos which is small and quiet (the beach there is lovely). There are fewer lunch options there but the experience is still nice. It is fairly easy to travel to Chania (Hania) and Heraklion (Iraklio) by a bus and both are good for day trips. The snack bar by the pool is a great alternative if you are in the mood to stay indoors. Breakfast at the hotel was pretty standard throughout and the dinner good on some days and great on others. The bars, both on the ground floor and by the pool were average.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great hospitality and service. Despite the language barrier, the staff tries their best to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Greek people in general and exremely nice and simple. On one ocassion, we decided to visit an olive grove owned by Kostas Zacharakis and he came to pick us up and drop us at the hotel and gave us 4 bottles of olive oil and several products made of olive oil as gifts. All in all, this was a vacation like no other and we can't wait to get back.

Room Tip: We got a free upgrade from garden to sea view room through our agent.
