We enjoyed our vacation in this resort so much in June 2013, that we are coming back with my wife and three children (1, 3 and 4) next month for two weeks! Everything here is truly excellent, food, hospitality, programs for the kids, pools, rooms, beach,...every single detail! The Greek restaurant is absolutely phenomenal. Traveled all around the world, but this is the winning place for vacation with the kids. If you are aiming for quiet vacation without kids, go elsewhere!

Room Tip: family room/bungalow - sea view is breath taking

When you go on vacation in Greece during the summer, naturally you want to enjoy the sea. If you stay in this hotel, you WILL NOT!!! The beach is small, umbrellas and sunbeds are so close to each other you can actually hold hands with the guys next to you, and the guests of this hotel are so rude and ill-mannered that they put their towels and stuff on them just before breakfast and they reserve the sunbeds for the rest of the day. The hotel people are pathetically watching and accepting this situation, even when you complain about it. We stayed there for 10 days late August - early September and every single day we had the same issues. There are 2 other options for swimming in the sea: one is a beach that the hotel is sharing with the community, but you need to walk about 150 metres out of the hotel premises to get there, and one is a very very small pebble beach with some big rocks under water that is quite dangerous with no umbrellas and sunbeds. Let me add that the area is very windy and most of the days the sea was filthy and not at all enjoyable.
If you prefer swimming in the pool, let me inform you that there are 3 pools that are rather small, but with MANY MANY sunbeds around them. So many that you can barely find some room to walk and reach the pool! Unfortunately, they have done a very poor job on that matter.
Next, the food is plenty, but unfortunately of low quality, and no variety at all. The management really has to do something about it. They operate in Crete, with the most famous natural products and quality traditional cuisine, and they have some trainees in the kitchen cooking frozen and pre-cooked products! I met the chef once and had a small talk about it, but unfortunately nothing changed during our stay.
Finally, you are entitled to dine a la carte in one of the 3 other restaurants of the hotel (asian, italian and greek), but you have to stay in line for at least half an hour in the morning which is absolutely ridiculous!!!
The only thing that I really loved was our family room with the great view and layout that compensated us a little bit for the above.

Room Tip: The rooms on the left of the pool with the sea water are great! Avoid the rooms close to the main pool and restaurant that are very noisy in the morning (you will have to wake up early with loud music from the kids' club) and in the evening they have some happenings take place there until late.

We stayed here for 1 week. Concerning the food, there is a buffet, which is very good. There are 3 restaurants à la carte, but we didn't eat there because it was full. Then, there is 6 swimming pools, all different and all splendid. The rooms are very big and spacious. There is not a lot of animation but it suits us because we like the calm. Concerning the beach, it is really near of the hotel: not much of 2 minutes of walk. The formule of the hotel is all-inclusive, so there is a lot of food and drink all along the day and the night.
To conclude: I recommend this hotel and I would go back there!

We have spent 10 days in that hotel during mid October 2013 and came to a venue in a 300 people village called Panormos, (Rethymno being 22km away).

The good:
very friendly people at all places, very much service-minded personnel, aware of every move one does, bearing with all the kids' complaints and quarrels, and always fault-tolerant. Top!

The bad:
While there were many outdoor pools (i counted 7!), all of them were not heated and thus empty. a nice scenery for those photo shootings you see about relaxed vacation, but as the water was colder than the Mediterranean Sea, nobody wanted to enter the pools (us included). The central in-door pool was heated yet the combination of chloride plus an overdose of salt led to red eyes immediately after one or two dives - we had to leave here as well.

The room:
Believe it or not: not a single power outlet in the bath room - we had to purchase a 5m cable to connect the electric appliances! The separation of kids room from the rest of the room was not well designed either - the kids were between the balcony and the bed room so either you stay in one or the other when you did not want to wake up your little one... Cleaning was OK - when you do not look at details - like some larger piled dust right under your bed, or that there is no vacuum cleaner is used to remove the sand but just a mop.

The food:
in case you like fish with oil, steak with oil, potatoes with oil, .xyz with oil - feel at home. for us that was an absolute "oily overdose" - hard to find anything which didnt receive a larger oily bath. Same applies for the pie section - here it was a way too much sugary sweet offer; causing us to avoid that and get back to the fruit and veggie selection.

We had ordered explicitly a "quiet room". The room number "2xx" assigned to us was though actually right above the central in-door presentation hall, and every evening the entertainment program for kids or others kept us awake - forget about early sleep!

So - good when you can afford it - but in general not worth the money you're spending here, unless you'd be willing to accept an above-average standard whilst having your kids entertained (that really worked well).

Room Tip: side room view - you'll get to see a wasteland. be prepared. also, check for maintenance facilities resp stay away from them.

Stayed here last ten days of August. Myself, wife and three kids, 14, 13 and 11. Our accomodation was comfortable and well appointed. Maids cleaned the room every day and did a great job. The hotel is well spread out on the hill down to the beach so even though it was fully booked, it never felt too crowded. If you went to the main restaurant the minute it opened, it could be a bit frenentic but easily avoided by waiting an hour. Food was great. A huge range every day and always something different featured. We particularly liked the Cretian corner. They source some of the food from their own organic farms - Agreco which you can visit for a fantastic dinner and walking tour of the farm. We really loved this - well worth the E50.

We tried all the pools, all the bars and they were all great. Staff amazingly helpful.

Only down point - You need to queue up in reception at 9AM Sunday morning to book a la carte restaurants rather than the main restaurant. We arrivd on Thu so could'nt book one until Sunday. Not a massive problem but does mean they ration out those restaurants when full. They only do one sitting too so the Oriental restaurant sat about 40 per evening so queue up early and book one for most evenings of your stay if you can!

Overall, fantastic holiday, lovely place, great island too...
