Managed to swap 2 weeks of timeshare to here. This means only some rooms available to you, upgrade at a considerable cost.

Firstly the resort is on a steep hillside so definitely not for those with ambulatory problems.... not to mention those who may not be as fit as they would like! That said the rooms are set in pretty grounds. If you ask for an upstairs one you can even have a sea view (not from all though) The hotel car will drive you to your room but the estate is really not set up for cars at all, so very narrow road. Walking is easier.

The rooms themselves are very clean, ample space but a bit dark in decor with all the dark wood. They have a balcony. The bed was quite hard, so they kindly put on a soft topper.
The restaurant is good also but we eventually gave up on the buffet breakfast and prepared our own in the small kitchen area inclusive of a fridge, and microwave and hob. The dinner and lunch menu was comprehensive, not too expensive and well presented, so, useful, if you did not wish to walk downhill into the town or onto the beach. The town was well served with good restaurants many beachfronted. The tables were placed to allow the sea to lap very close. Under the stars it is idyllic.

We rented a car from the hotel car rental place. Easy to do and it was excellent value especially since we had it for 2 weeks,($12daily) and went out daily to golf, amongst other things. You need to park it at the hotel reception and walk back up to your room.

The pool is pretty, a bit small, but overlooks the ocean. The Spa was good also but a massage there was about 1200 baht whereas in the town (10min downhill walk) they are only 500baht and plenty of choice too.

The staff were all delightful, as always in Thailand.

In general it was a good place to stay, as a base for our time on Koh Samui. Not at all luxurious but comfortable, clean, well serviced and delightful friendly staff. Maybe looking a little jaded and would benefit from an upgrade. As we swapped our timeshare I am probably more generous with my review. 3 and a half stars would be more accurate!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view. The ones high up the hill are good if you are fit enough! The glass fronted bath...

We spent 12 nights at the Q signature (part of Absolute), 3 Adults and 3 kids (9m, 2.5y and 6y) We had the whole top floor (two room's) of a Standard vila which had a large living area, plenty of room and great veiws over the beach and ocean. As all the other reviews say this resort is showing its age as in many ways but after a few days you forget all that and we really enjoyed our stay there and were sad to leave. The room was clean and we had no reason to call housekeeping. The double beds are very hard. the rooms on the lower floor did smell some what compared ours (ours was fine)
Both pools were great expect the broken tiles, Maintance isn't a strong point here

The staff were always great and the buggy rides up a hill were great. Staf would alway give you a lift if they past you on the way up the hill. The local area is great, cheap food massages and great beach. would galdly stay again

We had read the reports on Tripadvisor regarding Q Signature being tired and showing it’s age. It’s true that it is, but we didn’t find it that bad, we were expecting worse. They are in the process of renovating, so if you’re lucky you’ll get a refurbished room (we didn’t). The positives are the location and staff. The view from our room was fantastic – through the coconut palms to the beach. The resort is a short walk down to the beach, but far enough away from the other beachside accommodation and eating places to be away from the noise. The stroll down to the beach and around the point is lovely.

We were in a studio room for six nights not far from reception which was easily accessible. We were both glad we weren’t further up the steep hill! There was an adjoining family room next door. We had four nights with no neighbours, very peaceful and quiet. Then a family moved in next door. Not their fault, but you can hear everything, even the cereal being poured into the bowl!

The lower level pool is in a great spot overlooking the beach. Water could be a bit cooler especially as it’s so hot in Samui! Mind you, the seawater is also warm, though that temperature can’t be controlled!

Staff were very friendly and always smiling, especially the lovely lady (Kob) that cleaned our room.

We did have a problem with ants - don't leave anything for them to sniff out as within minutes they'll be on to it in droves!

We hired an air-conditioned car with another couple and toured the island for a day. 1300 baht and we put in 500 baht worth of petrol. Well worth it.

There’s a good laundry service at the bottom of the road (the one going out of the resort). 60 baht per kilo washed and ironed. And it smelt great!

The standard response comment below from the resort on Tripadvisor needs some tweaking!

We recently(Feb 2012) spent 7 nights at the Q signature(as a part of Absolute) and we were both very impressed with the Hotel.
From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the staff.

Our room, we think, was in the best position, right near reception, with awesome views of the ocean,
The room was larger than expected, with a good sized fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and fry pan etc.
The bathroom was huge and the semi outdoor shower lovely, with awesome water pressure.

We didn't have breakfast included, though did get a complimentary one (while discussing our membership). It was fresh, with a good variety of dishes(though staff did struggle keeping up with the demand)

While it doesn't have it's own beach, a short walk around the point takes you to the most beautiful beach with many reasturants to choose from.
Or if you walk down the driveway you're on a street with more bars/restaurants.

The only downfall would have to be the fact it's so high up on a hill, the steep driveway and steps from the water/beach can get exhausting. Though getting a taxi back after a day/night out it didn't matter too much.

We look forward to returning and would be happy to recommend this hotel to friends.

We've just arrived home from a week in a lotus pool villa. The resort is showing its age as it Is quite tired. That said, the room was spotless and we had no reason to call housekeeping.
The staff were very helpful and we appreciated the buggy ride up the hill in the evening as it is quiet a steep climb. We looked on that as exercise for the food indulgences. The food was plentiful and fresh but they could use a good Thai chef as we have better Thai food here in Sydney. It was disappointing not to have the beautiful tastes of coriander, mint and lemon grass which lifts the cuisine as westerners know it. The beach is nearby and is quiet with a lovely breeze and shade trees. The best Thai massages from the ladies closest to the resort. A 45 minute massage would go for over the hour. We had a special deal rate so it was value for money. It must have been a beautiful resort when first opened and still could be again with more investment in the property.

We bought a deal to stay in a Lotus Pool Villa and upon arriving at the hotel were put into the smallest, cheapest room available, all the way in the corner of the place (though they do have a service that transports you up the hill). I found it odd that they were happy to do this when the Pool Villa was written all over the booking sheet, and I had specifically requested it in booking emails. I've put it down to us being young and probably easy to take advantage of. When we called reception they acknowledged their fault and though we had to stay where we were for a night, they brought up a bottle of sparkling white wine to apologise. We were moved the next day.

The rooms are tired and I probably wouldn't stay here again (especially paying full price) but the staff are nice, though could be a little bit more switched on. One thing I am thankful for is that it encouraged us to hire a moped and see a bit more of Samui which was liberating and incredibly enjoyable. The view, from anywhere, can't be faulted either - because it's on a hill you have an incredible ocean view from almost two sides and to credit the small room we were initially in, it had a killer view of the sunset over the mountains.

Room Tip: You'll definitely need to pay more for a pool villa if you come, they don't seem to take ver...
