“Not really our thing”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

After an idyllic week on Koh Tao we used this place as an overnight stop on the way to the airport. We were greeted by reception who berated us for selecting one guest instead of two on the booking form, not having a voucher (that we never given) and a generally unfriendly attitude.

There is a very small beachfront and a cramped pool. There is a water feature that runs through the place that was dry and smelled. The air conditioning wavered between ice cold and off, creating an impossible sleeping environment.

The hotel is on a main road but does have plenty of restaurants to choose from.

The room was clean enough, but overall not the kind of place you would choose to spend more than one night in. I can't imagine choosing this as a vacation destination.

Myself and my partner loved this hotel and would deferently return if we ever return to koh samui

Beautiful resort.

First stay we have a delux double room. Room was very big with a large double bed and a single! Very big balcony. rooms were cleaned daily to high standard. Breakfast buffet was excellent and there was a different choice every day. Waiters and waitress were more then helpful and all were very polite.
One waitress was exteremely bubbly and friendly and always made a effort to talk to you and offer u happy hour cocktails!

Food at the restaurant was a little highly priced but of a high standard. The little restaurant across the road shambla is excellent and for half the price we had one of our best meals there on out trip.

Beach is small but lovely on a good day. Didn't really go into the pool it was very clean but the green tiles put me off a little. Little weak point that you had to wash before you entered the look but the wash area was stood over a sand/grass bank.

Location is not far from chengwan and they offer a shuttle bus. only twice a day. 3pm or 9pm. taxi costs about 300bht.

Very close to pier which takes you over to koh phagan. Which is why we choose to come back after a travels from koh phagan.

We booked the same room a delux double. They recognized us from our stay the week before and gave us the same room which we were more the happy with.
When we got into the room we discovered the hot water wasn't working. They called an engineer out straight away and came almost 30 minutes later. The shower needed a new switch which they had to get in the Morning. I asked for a another room but the hotel was all booked so they offered us a 3 course meal with cocktails which we enjoyed very much.

The next day the engineer came back to fix the shower and he was unable to do so. Without hesitation they upgraded us to a pool side villa room. Which was absolutely stunning. Tall ceiling, four poster drape frame. And huge bathroom with a hot shower. I couldn't fault the staff and the hotel and if I was ever to return to koh samui I wouldn't hesitate to book this again.

we stayed here last year in jan and loved it so we decided to return this year we booked for 17 nights and could not wait to return to punnpreeda and to see the wonderfull staff , when i booked i booked with hostelworld and paid a deposit and was told to pay the ballance on arrivall ,but not long before we were due to go i recieved an email from punnpreeda to say we had to pay the ballance before we got there ,i ended up having to send a s.w.i.f.t payment via my bank which cost me an extra £30.00 ,so if you booked on a website that is not the hotels own be sure you check .when we arrived we were collected from airport by hotel ,when we checked in they told us breakfast was not included ,but i it said on hostelworld that it was but gina who was checking us in was having none of it although i had a piece of paperwork that said it was we ,it went on with her saying it wasnt and me saying it was, she said i should get in touch with who i booked with ,i said she should get in touch with them as they put the hotel on these sites, after 10mins of this i gave in as i was very tired and now stressed , but i was not even told how much breakfast would be if i wanted to pay , or offered it at a disscounted price which i think maybe would have been fair to both sides ,so we had breakfast at outside resurants everyday out of princible. anyway was taken to my room which was amazing ,i had a garden room last year this year i had one on the top floor of the front building , with the most amazing sea view ,and the room was really big and had a lovely big balcony , i went straight to the resurant and was very happy to see the lovely som and nui these two ladies are amazing and so good at their jobs they are what made us want to return to the punnpreeda . the beach is one of my favourites as its so peacfull and relaxing ,its only 10mins from chewang ,and 5 from the fishermans village ,i think there is plenty of resurants to choose from in bangrak ,and easy to get around from ,and now has its own walking street on the pier on a wednesday night its no where near as big as the friday night one in the fishermans village ,its more just food and drinks and at the end of the pier they have some entertainment and you can just sit and listen i love it its more relaxing . punnpreeda this year overall was great once again , my room great , did not find room noisy at all , resturant staff amazing , room ladies and gardeners amazing , my friend the wonderfull secrurity guard amazing , reception staff this year need to improve found them rude after my check in with gina not going so well i also booked for the hotel to take me to maenam in the room it gives you a list of prices ,we booked the night before was a bit of a struggle as man on reception did not seem to understand ,but went to reception in morning and was picked up only when we arrived at maenam we soon realised they had just ordered us a taxi who wanted alot more money which i refused to pay and told him to speak to hotel which he did but when he picked us up he was very rude and angry . the punnpreeda whould have got a 5 from me again this year , but reception let them down so i gave a 4

Dear all,

We have spent almost a week in this resort. Most of staffs are freindly and always able for help but except one at reception. She always not smile and even said hello to us. However, everyone has a good smile even they seem not understand what we are talking. Good try!

We got a villa with garden view. Room is good but a bit too small for us. I have requested for extra pillow and towels when check-in and they delivery as order in time. Free minibar refilled every day included in the room was very good and surpised for a small resort.

Beach was nice and good view but a bit small for swimming pool. Lucky not so many guests.

Overall it was ok and we would come back next time

Room Tip: Villa on the beach was nice will try next time

Dear Punnpreeda,

Hello, i wish all of you are fine. We are back home with safe. We miss your place very much and would be back next year. Nice weather and good view over the sea. We also miss your foods and your lovely cocktails too.

Our villa #505 was very nice with beachfront and seaview even villa was a bit small for us. Next time please reserve this room for us when we booked. Love it a lot and it also near the beach restaurant.

Staffs were so nice especially the active girl and her restaurant staffs. Thank you for taking good care on us. They could even remember what we loved to have in the morning. Thanks your coffee and tea.

We would be back for sure next year. See you all.

Room Tip: I love the Free minibar. GREAT!!!!!

We stayed in a Villa room booked through Asia rooms which had a cheaper deal going than the hotel. The room was very nice with a water stream running past and a good size veranda to sit at, although there is no real view, see photo. Pool side rooms look out over the pool and out to sea, if you need a view.

The hotel is on the main ring road where it’s easy to get taxi’s and tuk tuk’s. I am happy to ride motorbikes in Asia so transport was not a problem and there is lots of motorbike hire around.

Overall a nice hotel to stay in, but we did not see in an upstairs room so cannot comment on those rooms. There were not many people staying at the hotel or in the whole of Koh Samui as it was wet season and it did rain very heavy.

My comments:
• Breakfast is simple with only 1 Asian dish on offer, mostly western style food, eggs toast, cereal, fruit.
• Room included TV with DVD player, water & soft drinks free each day, safety box and under cover seats on the veranda.
• Hotel had free WiFi and worked in our room. Free internet computers in the foyer and the staff were all very good.
• Hotel is not wheelchair friendly.
• Across the road is a chemist, 7 eleven and a good cheap restaurant.
• Within walking distance are restaurants, bars, convenience stores, banks and tour booking agents.
• The Big Budda is about 1km and the fisherman’s village area is about 3 to 4km.
• Did not see any night clubs close by, but having a motorbike it was only a 15minute easy ride to Chaweng which has all that.
• The hotel will pick you up from the airport and we found the hotel to be much cheaper than a taxi. Also there is a free hotel bus in to Chaweng at 3pm and 9pm.
• Beach front at the hotel is narrow, about 6m wide and is wider and nicer walking along the beach north.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel if you want easy to reach nightclub nightlife as I didn’t see any around, a few bars and that was it. Also for shopping and markets you will need transport, so consider how much you want to shop.

I did read some comments on the net about air traffic noise from planes, as the hotel is close to the airport and flight path. I did notice some plane noise, but we never spent a lot of time sitting at the hotel to say if it’s a problem.

Room Tip: Stay in a Villa room

We stayed in early December for five nights as a large group before our wedding at another resort. I contacted the resort via email to book the rooms (we were a group of thirteen). Everyone had different requirements as we had toddlers and guests with limited mobility. Gina and her team were absolutely fantastic. Booking was easy and efficient although we had a number of requests. Gina was so obliging and helpful. We all arrived at different points over a couple of days and Gina efficiently arranged pick-ups and drop-offs throughout our stay. The staff were so welcoming and provided us fantastic tips on places to venture out too.

My husband and I were upgraded to the suite on the beach, it was beautiful and very much appreciated. The room had everything you could need. To welcome us they decorated the room with flowers, towel swans and heart shapes.

We hired a private boat for the day and they even arranged collection from the beach at the hotel so we didn't need to do any transfers. My aunt turned 50 whilst we were there and the staff arranged a lovely cake to be delivered to her room which had her name and a kind message on it. She was very touched. Breakfast is very good, nice simple fresh buffet with friendly staff.

This hotel is really great value for the price and is in a good location close to fishermans village and makes a good spot to explore the rest of the island. The beach outside is ok but a little crowed by boats but for the value I don't think you could do better.

A big thank you to Gina for all her help and her wonderful staff!

Room Tip: The villas closer to the beach are nice and quiet.
