I had to check out of another hotel early. It was actually a sister hotel to the Punnpreeda. Staff was polite and informative. The room was nice and mostly clean as well. At first, it was hard to tell if the dirt was part of the design features, but I realized it was not at clean as it could have been. I did not check-in early, but went for brunch nearby instead. The other issue, just as in their sister hotel, was that there was a note stating toilet paper must not be flushed, but put in bags and then in a bin. This is not acceptable to me. I currently live and work in South Korea where that is common but I avoid rustic hotels/pensions/public bathroom for that reason. I can't get used to it. I don't really think the hotel is a good value for money for the reasons mentioned. The beach area was narrow, but quiet and the loungers were nice. If given the choice, I would stay elsewhere. I had a surprisingly good experience at Chaweng Bay View about 10-15 minutes away.

We stayed here during the turn of the year for 5 nights. Having driven all the way from Malaysia to Koh Samui for the first time, we arrived slightly tired. It felt wonderful when we reached the hotel as it was pretty, stylishly designed and the staff friendly. What we noticed is most guests were wearing big smiles on their faces with the warm interaction between hotel personnel and inmates clearly evident. As we brought our 11 month baby along, some reshuffling of furniture and fittings were required, as was some mosquito repellant due to the weather and our ground floor location close to the ponds. Thankfully the staff were receptive to our every demand. FYI, according to the girl at the front desk, a move to another room would not help as the room were all designed in the same way.

We loved the location and It was great that there was a good massage parlour nearby (we visited the place everyday!) and many days spent relaxing at the pool (Tip 1: try the hammock by the pool) and the beachfront. (Tip 2: The Tom Yam Goong at the cafe is a must try. Better than all the Tom Yam's we've had at Thailand and Malaysia.). The best room locations are by the pool,. try and get these rooms if they are available.

The free shutter to Chaweng was also useful. We used it once and the Big Horn Restaurant in Chaweng nearby the London Bus drop off point is worth a mention for it's superbly grilled fish.

Special mention to Punnpreeda staff, Mr Ohm who was helpful throughout with his insightful tips. Managed to locate muslim food traders a few meters away and a muslim market nearby due to his assistance. He even drew a map so that we would not get lost finding Raja Ferry Port during our last day.

Would recommend this place to everyone and love to return to this lovely and charming hotel one day.

Room Tip: Choose low floors for the old and elderly as this resort does not have a lift. Choose the rooms near...

We stayed at Punpreeda Hip over the new year period, probably the busiest time of year on Samui, and this resort was one of the few resorts that had rooms available at the end of November when we booked. Even so, the deluxe room was reasonably priced and in the area we wanted to stay. Bangrak is a very quiet part of the island with just a few small resorts, shops and bars. The beach is beautiful and quiet, even in this busy period it was peaceful with wonderful turquoise, calm waters and just a couple of small beach bars so not as rowdy as the likes of Chaweng. And close to all of the boats to Phangan, Koh Tao, Ang Thong etc. If you want to party there are free transfers to Chaweng twice daily, and Fishermans village is a short taxi ride away.

We had a deluxe room in the 3 story building at the front of the resort rather than a bungalow. The room was a good size with a large comfy bed and nice simple design. There was a large balcony (although no view) fridge with free soft drinks and water, TV, wifi and safe. The bathroom is very basic but functional with a shower only. However, if you're a light sleeper like me it's probably not for you - the aircon is loud and you're right next to a busy, noisy road. Also the bathroom and front door are frosted glass with a bright light that shines outside all night so I needed ear plugs and an eye mask to get any sleep. I'm sure there wouldn't be such problems if you stayed in a pool side bungalow.

Breakfast was fine but basic, the restaurant had fab thai food but forget any of the western dishes and the bar good for sunbathing with a cocktail but no atmosphere at night so you'd be better going somewhere else.

The best bit about Punnpreeda Hip is the staff, they are very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. We were fairly demanding, asking for lots of reservations at restaurants and needing transfers to all corners of the island and they bent over backwards for us. The restaurant staff were also great, they remembered what we liked to drink and were very charming.

I would definitely stay at Punnpreeda again, I really enjoyed the small personal feel and the great customer service, but next time I would book a pool bungalow.

We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at Punnpreeda, we highly recommend it. It was well-priced, cleaned daily, excellent location, comfy bed, hot shower, lovely simple breakfasts, good and cheap cocktails and friendly staff.
For breakfast we recommend the rice soup with Chicken - delicious local option.
It's located in a quiet part of Koh Samui, but very easily accessible to other, more popular and busy parts of the island. We hired a bike from someone down the road, so travel was very convenient, cheap and we recommend this, too.
Don't recommend getting your laundry done there as it was very expensive - they did a good job however it is much cheaper to find a local laundry.
Also should mention it's perfectly located on the beach and there are plenty of chairs and towels to rest on the sand.

We stayed in a 'superior room'.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the pool - I think these are the superior rooms. We stayed in room 502 - perfect...

Gina, Lek and all the other staff, thanks for making our visit over the Xmas period 2013 an exceptional one. The Hotel location is great (ON the beach, but not noisy), the decor tasteful, the complimentary water and soft drinks daily, a bonus, the rates are good, etc, etc but mostly the cheerful and helpful staff are such a joy. If we needed a scooter, their friend across the road had the best deal. If we wanted to see a sight, they could recommend the best way to go about it. Every day when we returned from an outing or a meal, the happy faces wanted to know what we have seen and how we enjoyed it and then come up with suggestions that suits your personal style. The Hotel has a pool, bar and restaurant. Because it is not so big, there is never a feeling of being overcrowded. The shuttle to Chaweng (free) and other parts of the island (not expensive) is a bonus. We were sad to leave and can't wait to be back.

Room Tip: Try to get a villa with pool or beach views - it is nice and quiet, with a little veranda and really...

Me and my husband stayed here for 5 nights and loved this hotel! The staff are very helpfull and friendly, the room is cleaned every day and the beds are extremely comfortable! The breakfast and food in the restaurant are great, and the view from the dining area is nice.
There's a boat going from the hotel to Chaweng beach every day- free of charge!
We would absolutly recommand this hotel!

Just checked out today and I will keep to the facts:
- staff very friendly
- free minibar (2 complimentary drinks per day)
- very good rooms, good presentation and very clean
- free transport from hotel to airport
- good hotel restaurant
- very good breakfast
- free shuttle twice a day from hotel to Chaweng and back
If you choose the rooms near the street you will have noise from the cars, however for me it didn't make any difference since it is nothing substancial. The pool is not big, however enough to relax.
I recomend it.
