“Way overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2014 via mobile

Nice little hotel but way overpriced (during peak season).
+
Room221 is decorated tastefully and has a big balcony with hammock and a stunning sea view.
Great bed.
Restaurant Le Jaroen was very good.
-
The airco smelt like the kitchen underneath the room, awful.
We expected a big beach looking on the website, but it was disappointing, maybe because of the season.
Bad wifi.
Not much privacy.

We stayed one night the 2nd if Jan one of the sea side suites. The place is very nice, seine obviously put an extraordinary amount of time on the meticulous colonial style interior design and the rooms are very nice.

I would recommend to get a suite facing the ocean if you can.

We had a great night and as a romantic hideaway for a couple of days I would definitely record this hotel.

The hotel is a little off from everything which can he good or bad depending on your preference. For us it was no problem, everything is a taxi ride away 5-10 minutes.

Pros:
-Good restaurant (I only tried breakfast though) with even british staff and western food menu
-Very cozy atmosphere and rooms with all utilities, nice bathtub etc
-Helpful staff although we were denied a 1h delayed checkout which normally is acceptable

Cons:
-The beach is OK but not spectacular
-The restaurant is a little unnecessarily pricy (in local standards - about European pricing - didn't try the food)
-They add service charges to the bills (UK style) which is not standard in Thailand and a little annoying - they should really include everything in the price and not add additional charges later, in particular since the restaurant already is in the higher end of the spectrum.

Altogether I would probably stay here again and I would recommend it for the price range I think it's a 4/5 we paid about 5000 BHT for a seaside suite high season 2nd Jan

Hotel was booked from 24.11.2013 to 08.12.2013. We payed $140/day and left this hotel in early morning of 27.11.2013 with great pleasure.
No refund was received for remaining 11 days.

 Hotel doesn’t take promises
After booking confirmation we contacted hotel and asked for Taxi transfer from airport to our hotel. Hotel confirmed transfer. 1 day before arrival we sent email to hotel and reminded about our arrival and Taxi transfer. Hotel confirmed that transfer will be available.
Of course, when we arrived to Samui and tried to find Taxi in the meeting area, no taxi was found there. So, we tried to find it in nearby regions but … no taxi was found. We have to buy minibus transfer just in airport by ourselves.

 Some hours without condition and light
This region (Bo Phut) has great electrical problems. But hotel doesn’t have electric diesel generator. So, you can spend several hours without light and condition. We spent one night without light and condition (26.1.2013) and left this hotel.

 RECORD PRICES
We checked hotel menu and found teas for 120 Bats and sandwiches from 160 Bats.
Hot meals are from 490 Bats to 1500 Bats per portion (1900 Bats for meal with vine).
As an example, meal with soup, salad, hot meal and fresh in good restaurant at Chaweng area (most expensive area of Samui) costs about 600 Bats for 2 persons.
Hotel SPA offer massage for 900 Bat, Taxi for 500.. Fair price in SPA CENTER at chaweng is about 200-300 Bat for Thai massage and 300-400 Bat for taxi.
Do you still think that these prices are reasonable?

 DANGEROUS
Hotel is situated in very distant region from all life (no restaurants, no shop). If you want to visit a restaurant you have to walk about 2 km by the road with bikes and cars. It's very uncomfortable during day hours and VERY DANGEROUS in evening hours because road doesn’t have sidewalks.

 Small area
Very small hotel for 17 rooms, with very small pool

 NO BEACH
This hotel doesn’t have beach with white sand. There are lot of fishing boats and nets in beach area, nobody looks for this “beach” and we found some broken glass just at the beach. We tried to swim there but seabed was covered with plants.

 Fair price for this hotel is about $40-50 / in a day

 UNCOMFORTABLE FEELINGS ….
Toilet room doesn't have a door. Room doesn’t have inner doors. So, other hotel guests can see person sitting in the toilet just passing by your room number. If there is 2 guests in one room or more, it's a great problem because all sound and smells are all over the room. It's awful.

Total: the worst 3 night we spent at Samui. We left this hotel after 3 night and lost money for remaining 11 days because hotel refused to make even a partial refund.

Take a room nearby the Beach, Rooms @ streetside maybe to noisy, the resto is good, but expensive, staff is friendly. If you have the possibility, take room 111. Do Not expect a nice Beach. We had almost no Beach at all (11/2013)

A small boutique hotel that has everything we needed. The classic decoration is very unique. Simple and cozie.
The only disappointment is the beach. Well can't blame the hotel, plus the kindness and attention of the staffs made it pass. Anyways, There is a daily shuttle to and from their sister hotel which only takes 5 minutes...
The small restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The delicious dishes and staffs again, very nice! Highly recommend to all visitors.

I have stayed at the Scent Hotel many times, most recently for a family wedding where we occupied most of the hotel.

This is a small hotel with only about twelve rooms. It is located in a fairly quiet part of Koh Samui but offers easy access to most places of interest.

The hotel is built around an inner courtyard/pool, and as the name implies, incorporates aromatherapy into its everyday operations.

The good

-stunning property
-quiet
-beautiful rooms
-on the beach with stunning views of the bay
-staff friendly and professional
-fantastic swimming pool

The bad

-it's relatively expensive
-your experience will depend on the other guests (have yet to have a problem, but noisy people could ruin this due to the enclosed nature of the hotel)

Overall

A wonderful relaxing experience. One of my favourite hotels in the world. We always stay here when we come to Samui.

Room Tip: The rooms are very different. There are three seafront suites, one on the ground floor, one upstairs...

As I said , a perfect place to go for a lazy cozy holiday that no one will ever bother you in this small boutique hotel.
Quiet place, peaceful beach, refreshing smell, cute receptionist, friendly service, best chef.
Stay here with no doubt if you're looking for a hideaway holiday.

Far away from Chaweng and it's really dark outside at night. Don't forget to book a one day tour to Koh Tao and Koh Samui while the pier is within 10 mins drive from here.

Room Tip: Dont go out at night and do try dinner there or ull definitely regret.
