Hansar Samui Resort
Ranked #13 of 185 Hotels in Bophut
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 7 July 2012

We spent 17 nights at the Hansar in early June. We had requested a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, we got a 3rd floor room in the middle of the resort with beautiful views.
As stated by many reviews the big day bed on the balcony was great to sit and read and just take in the view.
The pool was lovely and the temperature was just right most of the time but with some very hot days it did get a little too warm and not as refreshing but you would expect that with the heat. There are definitly not enough pool chairs around the pool for all the guests when the hotel is at capacity as it was full whilst we were there.
The staff became more friendly towards us the longer we were there. Kung in the restaurant at breakfast was a breath of fresh air and eager to please and Jay and Dom around the pool and bar were very helpful and friendly.
Reception staff were friendly with Joy always having a smile
The turndown service every night was a nice touch but a change in the small gifts would have been appreciated especially after 17 nights.
Our room was always cleaned to a high standard but one gripe is the towels were hit and miss some days they were small and thread bare, l don't understand a 5 star resort not having better towels.
Breakfast was good, you could get your eggs to order and whatever coffee you liked, the buffet had most things that you get in a buffet style breakfast.
The position is terrific as stated before only a short stroll to Fishermans Village, Perfect.
Our only real dissapointment was at the very beginning of our holiday The Hansar left us waiting at the airport for 1/2 hr with no transport, we had to call them to pick us up and with no apology once we arrived, unsure what went wrong but we did get into our room earlier than the normal 2pm check in. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hansar, and would recommend it for a relaxing holiday.

We have just returned from 8 nights at the Hansar, it was fantastic, the staff looked after us very well and the food in the restaurant was great. All the rooms are well equipped with really soft welcoming bedding, they all have a great view of the pool and the sea. Each night chocolates and a rose are placed on your bed making you feel very welcome. We can’t recommend it highly enough and we will be back.

Room Tip: Don't worry about choosing a good room, they are all excellent

This was our 6th trip to Thailand and this was the best hotel we have ever stayed at. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Facilities excellant, bedrooms have everything required including mosquito repellent and every evening, on returning from dinner a red rose and chocolates had been left. In addition, each day, the hotel supplied two bottles of water in the room and two further bottles could be collected daily free of charge from the pool bar. These touches had not been supplied in other hotels we previously stayed at, The pool and surrounding area was exactly as shown on the website and could not be bettered but if you prefer the beach, there were sunbeds and parasols already set up. Only warning I would give is that there is not much shade from the sun around the pool or on the beach. Didnt use the spa but as every thing was a very high standard, I would not expect this to be any different. Didnt want to leave and cant wait to go back again and again and again.

Love this hotel and their friendly helpful staff. The hotel is very beautiful with an amazing infinity pool, the view at the pool is marvelous. At the same time you can choose to stay on the beach. Hardly to choose between 2!!

Although it's not villa style but you are warmed by the friendly helpful staff that you are not isolated but do can enjoy a romatic holiday.

Fisherman village just next door that plently of choices of restuarnt / cafe by the sea.

Room setting is lovely, I love the balcony...give me a cozy afternoon nap.

Even the chef for morning breakfast is so nice, he specially peel a mango for me when I told him the buffet table was out of mango. Love the semi-breakfast buffet that you can always have a instant made egg benedit, pancake and waffle on request. The latte is the best I ever had in thailand hotels.

The Luxsa Spa is amazing...really one of the best in Thailand. Can't compare even in Bangkok 6 stars hotel spa.

Definitely love to come back again for every holiday!!! You can enjoy with your love one or families or big groups of friend.

Room Tip: All the rooms have great sea view or pool view.

I will make this review quick and easy… we spent 4 days at Hansar this June, staying at a Beachfront Suite…

The hotel is just stunning, the room was big and plush with luxurious tropical finishings and the size was huge… the bed was one of the most comfortable I´ve ever experienced…

be mindful that the configuration of the bathroom is open, hence you can see the toilet from the bed and the toilet area is not isolated, hence no privacy at all… this bothered me a bit, I do not see the point of having a exposed toilet when the target market of the property is mostly honeymooners and couples… who wants to see (hear or smell?) their plus one at the toilet when spending a passionate weekend in Thailand… anyway… Shower and bathtub are great and big enough to play around...

The location of the property is great since it is right next to Fishermans Village with many options for food… be mindful the area is pretty quiet and hence no nightlife at all…

To me the worst part of the hotel is the beach… I mean, the view from the pool is great, the color of the water from the pool is great, but in that area of Bophut the water is milky and murky, and the sand is rough and coarse… and a couple of steps into the water the sand turns into mud, just like swimming in a lake.. hence if you do not like to swim in the sea, this hotel is perfect… if you, like me, really enjoy strolling by the beach or swimming in the sea, book a hotel in Chaweng, beautiful while sandy beach there…

If possible, try the Luxsa Spa, it is just amazing…

Service in the hotel was great, breakfast was great but poolside snacks were just ok…

Room Tip: The beachfront rooms are not really beachfront since there is a road between the hotel and the beach...

The hotel, staff, and restaurant are a model of what a top notch boutique hotel should be. The service was excellent and friendly, the pool was one of the best infinity pools I've seen, location was excellent be at the start of Fisherman's Village, and the restaurant was fantastic from the breakfast buffet, room service, lunch and dinner menu.

There was one mishap, which was extremely odd. I had left a pair of flip flops outside the room, like so many others I had noticed, but they were stolen. They were an inexpensive pair purchased in Bangkok, and do not believe that the staff had anything to do with this, but it was odd that another guest would do this. I did notice that there was a security camera near my room, but when I inquired the front desk about the missing flip flops, nothing was said about a security camera, so perhaps it's not functional. Regardless this didn't ruin my vacation there, and wouldn't hesitate in staying there again, I just keep my flip flops in the room :)
