We really enjoyed our stay at Hansar- there are always little things that could be improved - but all in all a lovely resort with the highlights for us being the location, the friendly and helpful staff and the Thai Cooking School which is an absolute must for anyone staying at Hansar- well worth the money and such an amazing experience!

We loved the Fisherman's Village, and, having explored most of Koh Samui, Bophut is definitely our favourite part. We weren't keen on Chaweng Beach at all!

Our room was very nice although I would agree with other reviews on here that the wardrobe/ cupboard space wasn't the best.

Loved our balcony and view (we were in room 1310). The room was kept really nice a clean and had great facilities. Nice touches like chocolates and roses left on the turn-down service each evening.

The pool bar is great and happy hours are a must - amazing cocktails!

We are at the H restaurant at the Hansar which is very nice and lovely food. I'm a vegan so the Thai cuisine really worked for me and the staff we're understanding about this.

Also some lovely places to eat in the Fisherman's Village including Starfish & Coffee and the Krua Bophut. Also if you fancy Italian one night Classico is really good.

A day trip to Koh Nanyuan and Koh Tao is a must- the most amazing snorkelling!!

If we come back to Koh Samui we'd definitely stay here again.

My husband and 12 year old son and I stayed at the Hansar for 10 nights in April, we had the Sea View XL room. When we arrived at the Hansar I was slightly underwhelmed by the greeting from the reception staff and the reception area, however check-in was quick and we were shown to our room. We had emailed in advance to ensure the spare bed was available but when we got to our room there was no bed made up for our son. We reminded the lady who had shown us to our room, even though it was pretty obvious there were 3 of us. She quickly informed us of the charge for the spare bed, and charge for the extra breakfast. When we checked our booking we realised our rate included the spare bed and extra breakfast so went to reception to sort it out, however they had realised their mistake but still had not come to tell us that. We later had to call for extra towel, glass etc. We had stayed at the Kempinski in Bangkok beforehand and the spare bed, extra towel, slippers, dressing gown were all there ready. So...not a great start.

The room was big and comfortable, although I did find it a bit dusty, especially around the wardrobe area. As stated in other reviews, the wardrobe/cupboard space isn't great but we managed to find homes for everything. Some of the towels we had throughout our stay were on their last legs, and seemed thin and grey, again I compared back to the Kempinski with its large, fluffy white towels. The best part of the room was the big balcony with 2 rocking chairs and large daybed, the fan meant it was lovely to sit out any time of day.

Breakfast was ok, small selection of fruit, cereal etc. Eggs were good, although the poached were barely cooked on our first day so I stuck to scrambled or omelette. Good coffee, poor choice of pastries. Upstairs is cooler and we found the staff more pleasant up there. When I sent my eggs back the first morning the replacement eggs didn't come with mushrooms and when I asked to have some the waitress crossly told me to get them from the buffet.
We ate in the hotel restaurant only one evening but it was very good food and good service.

Pool was lovely, good temperature and depth. There were enough sun loungers but only just some days. Enjoyed the Happy Hours and cocktails were good, try the Tom Yum Martini - lovely!

Was very disappointed with the beach and sea, sand was very coarse and hurt to walk on and the sea was very murky even in the shallow water.

Location is great just on the edge of Fisherman's Village with loads of restaurants and shops selling the usual stuff. The Thai food we ate was obviously tamed down for Western tastes which was a shame, but the international food we had was good. Two that comes to mind are Crepe 55 both for savoury and sweet but also good ice cream and also The Shack, great food, steak was better here than Gary Rhodes restaurant.

All in all, a bit of a mixed bag.. I would recommend the Hansar to someone who was wanting to stay in that area... But would I go back... Probably not.

Room Tip: Don't think the XL rooms are worth the extra cost unless you need an extra bed

Just returned from a wonderful vacation to Hansa Samui. Wonderful location a few minutes walk to Fishermans village which has large variety of restaurants - some at which you can eat right on the beach. Also lots of little shops selling all sorts of reasonable priced items. We had regular room with lovely large open shower. Breakfast waitress Cob gave us excellent service. The pool staff were also very attentive. There was always enough pool loungers for everyone. My only small negative comment is the lack of shade. We did have umbrellas but the way the sun moved you had to keep moving the loungers to keep out of the scorching hot sun. Happy hour was great every afternoon and evening and bar staff great. We hired motor bikes and explored the island a bit. Only problem is the large number of bikes on the roads - so you have to be careful.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. All have a seaview. The ones on the right have a sea view look at sea sideways...

No surprises here, hotel was exactly as described on their website and by the many reviews. Lovely room, not the plushest but then I knew that, elegant, simple and clean. Air conditioning worked well. Staff absolutely brilliant and location couldn't be beaten. The pool is the crowning glory for this hotel, and thankfully even when hotel was full on our first weekend it was never crowded. As others have stated a few more coat hangers in the wardrobe would be good, we knew that this was a problem so took our own. Plenty of toiletries so if you don't have a preference no need to take, even have mosquito repellent so every detail thought of. Loved the balcony with the day bed. We had a standard room which is perfectly adequate but I did think the XL rooms were lovely and would try to get one next time if not too expensive. The spa is also worth a visit, it is more expensive but you are paying for the experience and setting which is well worth it. We are definately going to return to this hotel.

We have just spent eight nights at the Hansar Samui and found everything at the hotel up to a high standard. The location was great - an easy walk to plenty of restaurants and bars and the pool and beach were great too. The staff at the hotel couldn't have been more helpful and we particularly enjoyed the Friday night market with the 70 baht cocktails. We can't wait to go back!

End of April we (couple with pregnant wife) spent 6 nights in a regular room. The room was spacious and clean with great seaview. Nice big balcony with lounge bed overlooking pool and sea.

Upon arrival (we arrived at 10:00 am) the room was not ready yet but the staff immediately invited us to use the breakfast buffet free of charge. This was just the beginning of an excellent stay where the staff went out of their way to make everything as comfortable as possible.
We have read in some other reviews that the english of some staff would not be very good. We did not experience this at all and if anything the friendliness and willingness to help made our experience very enjoyable.

The hotel is only a 15 minute drive from the airport and they can arrange private pick up for you. The swimming pool is located near the beach and the only minimal comment we have is that the water of the pool was quite warm, but guess this can be expected in the hot and dry season.

We used the spa twice and it is top class, they have special treatments for expecting mothers.

Fisherman village is only 5 minutes walk away, but it is mostly souvenir shops and restaurants. (some nice ones on the beach).

The restaurant deserves a special mention. Although not cheap compared to other restaurants around the quality of the food and the presentation was simply excellent and well worth it.
We did the "dining under the stars"which is a 6 course meal on the beach with your private waiter and this was also very enjoyable.

Thanks to Tiger, Dom, Aon, Jo and the others for making our holiday unforgettable. We will certainly come back.

Room Tip: hotel has three floors. We asked for the top floor in order to not have anyone staying above us.

Hansar has a fantastic location next to the Fishermans Village but still away from the "hassle". Rooms are spacious enough and very well maintained, the huge shower is a real bliss. The balcony setup is great to lounge after a day in the sun. Breakfast is absolutely fantastic and also the lunches we have had at H bistro were nice. Service was very friendly and accommodating. The best about this hotel is that you feel you are right in the middle of things and at the same time can retreat to your sunbed at the lovely pool. One area of improvement though is the spa setup. All the treatment rooms are windowless bunkers which is a shame. Who wouldn't love the Samui sun to be sweeping in? Treatments however were great!

Room Tip: Get aroom on the upper floor, ideally in the central part with direct ocean view or to the east side...
