stayed for 4 nights, had beach front room, everything perfect, from checking in to checking out, excellent cuisine, great staff, prices you expect in a place like that, I can just say, what most of the contributors / reviewers have stated is absolutely correct - a resort, a gem, with style and concept !

@hwesten: "Oh dear I don't agree':
*in march they had only walk-in guests, so why did you not walk away again when you saw all you criticize?
*yes, there is a road in between resort and beach, however, a narrow one-lane road, with hardly any traffic, mostly scooters riding by, lane rather just used by pedestrians, so not really a big thing, didn't disturb us at all
*unfinished - probably you were told - but see above, as a walk-in guest you could walk away?
*for ALL drinks there is a price-list, so no fooling going on here; we got receipts after having finished meals and drinks without even asking for it

@lqdenver: only one review so far - by the way, do you know a single top-class resort where - NOT BEING a guest - you buy some breakfast and then are allowed to use facilities of the hotel?

The Hansar is new this year and is in my opinion the best on Bophut /Fishermans Village. The pool is the centre point of this Hotel with all rooms overlooking the pool/beach and views of beyond.
The staff are so friendly, respectful, helpful, and efficient they really make your stay with them a special one.
Fisherman's Village is right next door so very easy access to restaurants, thai massage, and village shops.
The rooms have quiet air conditioning , very very comfortable beds and pillows, very large showers and ample complimentary waters. Linen and towels were of a high quality. The pool towels were large and very easy to get more from the pool bar.
The day beds on the terrace are very comfortable and have a very pleasant outlook over the pool etc.
The one think I did miss was no tea / coffee making in the rooms but you can easily get a tea/coffee from the restaurant .
Overall this is a very relaxing hotel with wonderful new facilities and terrific staff and management.
Tip: The Happy Elephant has very good meals.

I fail to understand the numerous good reviews this hotel has received, as we experienced poor service and did not enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel.

Taking the positives first: Rooms. The room (we stayed in a seaview XL) was very large, the bath was great, the huge terrace was lovely. I don't understand the preference for semi-open plan toilets but that isn't unique to this hotel. Location: the location isn't bad, just at the end of the road that goes along the front at Bophut, so a fairly short walk to the shops and restaurants. However, because it's on the road, it does mean that cars and motorbikes often drive (and occasionally park) between the pool or restaurant and the beach, impacting the view. The pool: the pool was really great. Very big and some nice sitting/jacuzzi areas within it.

Moving on to the negatives - I really disliked the style and atmosphere at the hotel. It's three big concrete blocks painted a red/brown colour. The corridors to the rooms (at least in the block we were in) are open on one side, to the back of the hotel – where the view is to a sort of wasteland with rubbish and weeds in it. Walking down the corridor made you feel like you were in a cheap American motel somewhere.

The rooms are very minimalist and lack character - I felt that I could have been in any hotel in any city in the world. There isn't even any artwork on the walls, the main feature is an enormous flat screen TV (which is nice for people who want to watch TV, but not very aesthetically pleasing for the rest of us). The rooms are also incredibly impractical – for clothes storage there are no shelves, only one draw, and no full length hanging space (so nowhere to hang long skirts or dresses). It felt as though the rooms had been designed by someone who had given no thought to how the rooms would actually be used. Another example is that there was no remote control for the aircon – so if you got too hot or cold in the night you would have to get up, put on the light, walk across the room to the control by the door, and then go back to bed – by which time you would be fully awake. A similar issue is that the light switch that turned on the light in the toilet also turned on another light in the room, meaning that if one person needed to use the toilet and wanted to do so with some light, they’d inevitably wake up the other person as well by turning the light on.

The real downside to this hotel though was the service. The front desk staff spoke very little English, meaning that it took several minutes to indicate what it was that you wanted. Once you had achieved this, you wished you hadn’t bothered, as they were unable to assist with even the most basic requests. On our first night in Bophut we asked the front desk staff if they could direct us to a tailor. They said there were none in Bophut, only Chaweng. I said I had read of one in Bophut. They got their manager. She said there was one in Bophut, on the road out to Chaweng. She didn’t know what its name was or if it was any good, but pointed to an approximate location on a map. On leaving the hotel, we soon discovered that if you walk for three minutes along the beachfront you will come across three or four tailors shops on the main street, and there are several others as well. We also asked about Thai cookery classes in Bophut and were told there were none, we would have to go to Chaweng. The front desk staff offered no further information about where in Chaweng we could go, and did not offer to make arrangements for us. On returning to our room we googled “cookery course Bophut” and found that the Anantara hotel, a 30 second walk from Hansar, offered a Thai cooking class. We did this and it was very good. On our first night in the hotel, we asked if we could have a spare flat sheet as it would be very hot sleeping under the think duvet provided. It took some time to explain what we wanted, they said they would contact housekeeping. Thirty minutes later, there was a knock on the door and we were told there were no sheets available! What would they have done if we had spilled something on our sheet? The next day we happened to walk past reception when someone who spoke better English was there and he arranged for us to have an extra sheet for the remainder of our stay.

On our final morning, we had arranged for the hotel car to take us to the airport – but even this was a muddle, as the car left for the airport with a different couple in it, resulting in a last minute scramble to find a different car to take us to the airport, which turned up 15 minutes late.

The service in the restaurant was little better. The staff seemed nervous and inexperienced. The hotel was not busy, but it seemed to take them forever to bring out any food or drink. One morning we waited over 20 minutes for our tea and coffee, despite the fact that there were only two other couples in the restaurant. Breakfast itself was average, given that it is a la carte I would have thought that the menu could have been a little broader and more original. As for dinner, it was very expensive, and the food was decent but unexceptional given the price.

Overall, I think there must be better options in Bophut, and I wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed at the Hansar in March and quiet frankly I was disappointed. We booked via a travel agent in Bangkok and were told we were on the beach wrong there is a road in between. The rooms were adequate but there was a lot of unfinished building work it should not have been open.Bar prices varied dramatically odd cheap drink to lure people in but most drinks were expensive all in a a great disappointment.Looked like a prison when we arrived.

My partner and i weren't sure where to stay when travelling to Ko Samui but after checking TripAdvisor this was highly recommended and we can see why. The moment we arrived Supit (hotel manager) was very welcoming as well as there staff and this was the experience we got from them the whole stay. The room was amazing with a large open shower and large balcony with a stunning seaview that also provided a rocking chair and sunbed. Breakfast wasn't your usual buffet but was a set menu with great tasty options. The location was in our opinion the best on the island as it was a 1minute walk to Fishermans village with a vast selection of restaurants.
Would definitely return here again.

3 nites at this newly finished easy style hotel left only sweet memory for me.

Booked via email with the kindly booking manager of Hansar Ms.Yuanpit Suknuan.Besides for the kindly and swift booking ,she professinally informed me the error on my e-tikect leaving Samui for HK(the month was mistaken by my agent). In fact aother hotel on Samui has already offered me a cheaper rate, but I still decide to stay at Hansar to show my appreciation.
The decision was well proved to be correct. The arrival pick-up was smooth with an always smile staff and a pass by duty manager. The check in was well taken care of by the hotel manager Mr.Supit.The first room I checked in met some problems with power supply,OK after change another one.
For part of my job was to deal with several 5 star hotels,I should say Mr.Supit is 120% qualified to be a manager of any international chain hotel. He manages to show up anytime we met some problems. He tries to make friends with anyone in the resort. That's the model any hotel manager team should learn from.
Surely the pool was huge and the service was good.I spent my whole holidays at Samui beside the pool or in the pool, witnessing the beach.
Special thanks for Mr.supit and the hotel staffs for the dilicious cake and card for my birthday! What a day!
Some advices for the hotel also for the potential readers,
1.The entrance road was between the pool and the beach, which did a littel bit harm for the sense of privacy of the resort-like hotel.
2.The gym was still under construction which most of us did not know beforewards.
3.The À la carte style breakfast was surely good, but hard for those in a hurry__I once waited for a plate of salade from 09:30 to 10:30, the problem I think was mainly due to unskilled order system.
4.The beach in front of the resort was not big and soft with views of too many ships, clean ocean view seekers should be cautioned.

we stayed here with 2 teenagers. a contemporary hotel that is a gem to be discovered. even though the spa and health club was not finished yet, the facility was amazing. the infinitey pool was beautifully set against the ocean as a backdrop. the room was nicely decocrated and the beddings was great. the breakfast was one of the best we found - it is a la carte but result in a very high quality food. the fisherman village next to the hotel was very inviting - unlike chawen where you don't want to be especially with kids. for the moment, they have free wifi. the staff was also very helpful. Mr Supit, the manager goes out of his way to serve his customers. on the day of my departure, i lost my reading glasses in the hotel car and he promptly turned around and personally delivered my glasses to the airport.
Bo Phut should be a great location for a family vacation. Would highly recommend Hansar and would definitely return again.
