The shuttle pick up from the airport (only 15 mins) and arrival drinks at reception were great. Location is very tucked away and high up which provided great views with a quiet atmosphere however is quite far from the popular chaweng beach and will cost a lot if you do not utilise the hotel shuttles.

Unfortunately our room was full of ants and once reporting to reception there was no apology and all they did was send housekeeping with a can of spray.

Food and drinks are extremely overpriced, if you want nice food and drinks try the local restaurants for a fraction of the price (recommend "the hut cafe" near fishermans market)

Pool and spa was amazing with great views and plenty of beds around to rest on

On our last day we got back to our room with a nice letter from the staff with a hand made coconut candle. This was a lovely touch to the end of our stay,

Overall the mantra is a great a place to stay if your looking for a nice resort In a secluded location away from the tourist areas (15-20min by vehicle) and certainly lives up to its Moto (cheeky, with love)

We stayed for a week in January. The weather wasn't that great but the Mantra turned out to be a very pleasant stay. We booked two rooms and our two children (19 and 16 years) had a good time. We did take advantage of most the hotel had to offer. Yoga, massage, gym, pool, restaurants, cooking class and shuttle to town/s. Even though the place was full it didn't feel that way. We were always able to get a sun bed by the pool (and a great pool at that!) and we were always served without fuss.
The price of the restaurant and drinks is a fair bit more expensive than the villages but the food is good and not expensive by western standards.
The place is on a hillside and away from the beach. This wasn't a problem given the number of shuttles able to take us down and back from the beach and villages. It does mean that the place is not affected by the traffic and noise of the main tourist centres. You can grab a cab (under 300Baht - depending on the driver) or hire a scooter from the hotel.
I wouldn't recommend this place for the elderly. Because it is on a hill you do have a bit of walking between room and restaurant etc. (I suppose you could recommend a close room). They do have carts available on request and it was not a bother at any time when we needed one. Rooms are very pleasant and very well equipped with everything you could want.
nb. About the star rating. I suppose it isn't the traditional 5 star by western standards. It does have all the facilities but some of the finishes could be higher spec'd but 'It is Thailand' not Vegas. They live humbly and this is a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a room up hill from the restaurant. The walk is less of a hassle.

We choose this hotel by seeing the great reviews of tripadviser. But we got a bit disappointed by seeing the hotel location. The hotel is up in the hill, has an excellent birds eye view of the island but you have to use a transportation to get into any beach. Their shuttle service is ok but sometimes it is hard to maintain the time strictly when you are on vacation. They should keep more shuttles. Otherwise Koh samui transportation is expensive, takes at least 300-400 THB to go to any place. Their service was great. Though my wife was disappointed because there was no mirror in the room, and no blanket as well. Otherwise everything was perfect. Excellent buffet breakfast (don't forget to try their coconut jam), free wifi and most surprisingly we had free international call service, and we made the best use of it. They gave my wife a small present while leaving, so at the end of the day she was HAPPY!! so am I :)

We stayed in the LOVE jacuzzi room and loved it! We were right next to the pool, gym and restaurant which was really handy. Even though we didn't end up getting a chance to take advantage of the freebies (cooking class, yoga classes, movie theatre, etc) we thought it was a really great little bonus to offer guests that other hotels don't. We also booked several months in advance and received 65% discount on our room.

PROS:
- Beautiful views from our room and the infinity pool, restaurant and swim up bar
- The staff were very attentive, our food was also served very quickly and we enjoyed the wide range of pastries and other food available
- Our room was always cleaned while we were at breakfast so we weren't interrupted while we were there
- Free shuttle was handy as the resort is a bit remote and not convenient for walking into town
- If you didn't feel like walking up/down the steep hills the staff were more than happy to give you a lift in the buggy
- Staff called us the day before our departure to ask if we needed help booking any further transfers (which was great because we hadn't even thought about it and it turned out the ferries were departing from a different pier to what we thought)
- Delicious food
- Great selection of free movies and music in the room as well as free wifi and free international phone calls
- Lovely rain shower in bathroom
- The gong above the bed, my partner had fun with that, hopefully we didn't annoy our neighbours!

CONS:
- Not much privacy from jacuzzi without using the curtain, and on windy days the curtain blew all over the place, it would have been handy if there was another way to secure the curtain so the wind didn't affect it (curtain was also a bit mouldy but that wasn't an issue)
- Reception area looked a bit unorganised and would benefit from a proper reception desk
- Getting back to the hotel late at night is a bit hard and taxi's will charge you 300 baht to get you there
- Air conditioner was really noisy so we couldn't have it on at night
- Website shows the bathroom with a big bathtub but we found out that only the other rooms had that, so that was a little misleading

We would definitely stay here again, there has obviously been a lot of thought put into the extra touches to make the resort stand out from others. I think this resort is also best suited to young couples/singles.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the restaurant. The rooms in front of the gym appeared to have the most pri...

Got myself a WOW Mantra room right at the highest point of the resort, with a magnificent and unblock view of Samui's coastline. It could be tedious to walk up the steep slopes from the reception area to my room, however golf cart service is available upon request. Room is huge, the balcony is my favorite place to hang out. There's a small kitchenette, with an espresso making machine, but needs to pay for the capsule. I still prefer instant coffee, which is not provided. Bathroom only has standing rain shower, with no partition to contain the water within the shower area. Computer and WiFi is working fine, except for a couple of hours, due to mass disruption of WiFi signal across the area. Insects are unavoidable, best to keep balcony door closed. Satisfied with the free airport transfer, it's provided according to the timing I requested, thought I'm the only passenger on both trips. It's gym is well equipped, with no closing hour. It also has a large sauna room, but the power is switch off at night, wasn't able to turn on myself. It has some variety of egg menu for breakfast, with nice breads and pastries. The pool is sort of crowded, with the benches snapped up by late morning. There's a sundeck which is empty, maybe some benches could be provided. Took the shuttle service to Bophut, an ideal place for a meal or a visit to the convenience store. Would suggest the resort to add in another schedule at 6pm, which is currently unavailable. Staff are generally polite and friendly at all areas, especially the lovely lady staff manning the gym. Just one or two that are not that attentive during breakfast, and another nearly charge me for airport transfer when paying the hotel bill. Overall a good experience on a hilltop.

we booked the love Jacuzzi oasis for 5 nights and did not want to leave. The room was romantic and spacious, laid out beautifully. The only gripe would be that there was not a whole lot of privacy on the balcony without pulling the curtains and that meant losing the view from the jaccuzzi however that is a small gripe. Mini bar prices were a bit over the top however breakfast was included which was a surprise as we were told it was not and the variety was exceptional. I required gluten free and this was catered to without hassle and with an abundance of choices. The pool was amazing and happy hour cocktails were great. we did a couples spa package and although this was a little pricey at $75 AUS each, for 2.5 hours of massage and treatments, it was money well spent. The setting of this hotel is great although it is a bit of a hike to get into town, there is a free shuttle to nearby Bophut and Chaweng. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The grounds and property were immaculate and the staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely stay again if we ever come back to samui.

We went by the reviews on trip advisor andread rave reviews, however was a tad disappointing, firstly our bangkok ariways flight from bangkok forget our luggage, we had flown from mumbai and were already dog tired, to add to our frustration and fatigue our bags were lost, the hotel said they would help with the retrieval but we ended up paying 800 bahts to the hotel to go and bring our bags, the plus points are the rooms, they are luxurious, but the minus points are the staff who are curt and sometimes rude, the beach is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR, and the transfers that they offer free are useless, and you end up spending money from your pocket either ways trying to return back to the hotel. The breakfast is good, but only if you like the english/ american breakfast. The pool is amazing and honestly the pool, rooms and the spa were the only reason i have rated them four, otherwise not enough bang for the buck...

Room Tip: If you are a honey moon couple, go for the LOVE room, the room comes with a private balcony, a jacuz...

Dear Jusjateen

I am very happy that you found our room to be luxurious and well equipped.

I feel great empathy towards the fact the airline has lost your luggage. According to our records our colleagues have called the airport on your behalf and informed you that the airline will transfer the luggage to within hours. Our colleagues offered to sign for the luggage and inform you once it has arrived to Mantra. The airline would have done this free of charge naturally but you have refused this
service and wanted to pick up the luggage yourself.

My colleagues have explained that the airline will dispatch your luggage but you wished to go in person to pick it up. Naturally this was a taxi service and we informed you about the charges and options in advance.

I am sorry that the 22 shuttles that we provide daily free of charge did not match your preference. With this very frequent service you can be at the beach in less than 10 minutes.

Alternatively we provide options to rent motorbikes, cars and we also provide taxi service.

I would like to point out that we also provide fresh made noodle soup / and other Asian breakfast options in addition to our home made pastries, bread, salads, freshly made egg, nuts, cereals, muesli, dairy products, cold cuts, home smoked salmon, and fresh juices.

I was also happy to read that you enjoyed our pool and spa – no doubt the therapists will be delighted to hear that as well.

Thank you for your review!
Robert
