“Just wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

We just spent six nights at the Tongsai Bay and I must say it is without doubt the most relaxing hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were absolutely wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The cocktail reception followed by the Seafood buffet (on Tuesdays), seated at a table by the beach with the saxophonist playing and the waves lapping in the background was an experience that will be hard to ever match. The care and attention the hotel pays to the gardens and surrounds gives a feeling of being very close to nature but then it's only a short taxi ride to the Chaweng and Lamai beaches/nightlife. We just can't wait to go back.

We have now been to Tongsai Bay first. It is in a very lovely, secluded location set on the cliffs with it's own beach. Great if you like to chill out in one place - you can't really walk to anywhere but can get taxis (or use the hotel's own) to Bohophut or Chaewang (taxis are more expensive than in other places we have been to in Thailand). On our first trip we stayed in a sea view cottage, which although is quite dark inside was good. The outside bath was great and we made use of that eveynight as the sun went down watching the geko's on the balcony walls! On the 2nd trip for our 5th wedding anniversary we treated ourselves and stayed in a pool villa which really was luxurious and private. If you can stay in one of these you won't regret it! If you really like to get away from it all you certainly can here, you woudn't need to leave for days (room service may get a little boring after a while though!). The 2 restaurants (one Thai, one 'international' are good), we didn't try the 3rd one which is open a couple of times a week. We also had one of our dinners on the beach with our own waiter and chef - this was a great experience. Be carreful in the sea as there are some rocks which are difficult to see. There are kayaks and small boats for guest use which you can use to go over to the next beach where you can walk around a few little shops, have a massage and an icecream and then return to the santuray of Tongsai Bay. A truly relaxing experience.

Room Tip: If you can go for a pool villa but the cottage suites are spacious. Not sure what the small hotel t...

Im a little late in writing this review sorry, we stayed at the beautiful Tongsai Bay in January 2012 for our honeymoon and absolutely loved every minute. Our seaview room was breathtaking and every little detail had been covered right down to the fresh fruit basket supplied everyday. The grounds themself are beautiful and the staff too! We have to give a special mention to Toto (he was so very friendly) every morning he would greet us and over service us even recommending where to sight see and shop. We had a beautiful private beach candlelit dinner complete with our own chef and wait staff - this was the most memorable and romantic thing ive ever encountered, a must to do if you stay here! The day spa at the resort is another must to do!The food was reasonbly priced and delicous. I could go on and on about this place for days, but do yourself a favour and stay here! I cannot wait to go back in the future with our children, its paradise and im so happy we chose to stay there. Thank you to all the wonderful and caring staff for making our honeymoon the best it could possibly be!!

Our expectations were high, having chosen Tongsai Bay on the basis of so many good reviews, but they were exceeded in every way.

Firstly the location, Koh Samui is a well developed island and driving round you would never think that there was any sea at all, as so much of it is hidden by heavy tourist development, some of it not so great looking. But the North East corner is so much quieter and Tongsai Bay has the unbelievable good fortune to have its own beautiful bay. The beach is so picture perfect and the sea so delightful to swim in, that this fact alone makes it the best hotel on the island - by a LONG way. The sheltered bay also provides an ideal setting for the non-motorised water sports - no noisy jet skis here.

That's before you get into your villa perched high above the beach and fall over at the drop dead gorgeous view. We had Akorn villa as there were three in our party, but no matter how much or little you spend, you still get that view. The villas are all very well appointed.

Then you get blown away by the wonderful food, both at the Thai restaurant in the main complex and the international bistro on the beach. It's not cheap, but it certainly is not over expensive either given the quality of the resort. We also got a private dinner on the balcony of our villa as part of the package which topped it all - it was almost too good.

We also tried out the spa and the massages were of the highest quality and the rates very reasonable compared to Europe. The spa staff are consummate professionals.

Finally, and perhaps most important, was the service. Nothing was too much trouble and everything got seen to. We mentioned a security concern about the villa on the first day and next day a new lock was fitted while we were at breakfast. Our AC packed up in a serious way one night and we were wafted into a spare villa for a night while they worked away into the night to fix it. No matter what happens (and stuff does happen some times) the Tongsai Bay staff will do all they can to minimise the effect on your holiday.

We hired a car for a day and I wholeheartedly recommend this. Again the Tongsai Bay has onsite staff who will make all arrangements.

This isn't the hotel for if you are after the Koh Samui bar and party scene, but if you want great sea, gorgeous views, sublime food and luxury round every corner - book it now.

A holiday of a lifetime - thank you Tongsai Bay !!

Room Tip: The view is the thing, so the bigger deck you can afford, the more time you can spend just looking a...

We came to Tongsai for our Honeymoon in June and what a trip we had!!! Tongsai is simply Heaven!! From the minute you check in to the minute you check out you are treated like royalty!! The food was amazing, the beach and pool where fantastic, staff where so friendly, paid attention to detail and got to know us they where just fab and the cocktails where a delight!! We stayed in a cottage it was such a treat!! The entire resort is so special in that it is partly a nature reserve and there is so much unspoilt beauty!! I would go back here in an instant!! If you want something idyllic then I would say Tongsai is the place for you...yes you do have to walk a bit to get to your room (maybe a 2 minute walk - not alot)!! Buggies collected you from your room or from the bar less than a minute after they where called!! I couldn't complain about one thing!! Oh and the breakfast is simply out of this world....very impressed!!!
