We've just had 5 fabulous nights here with out two children, 9 & 7... We couldn't fault it with wonderful hospitable staff. We all loved the kayaking and paddle boarding and great that the kids could do it in the life jackets provided and the safety of the secluded private bay. Our cottage suite 319 was perfect for a family of 4 with great views too... The staff made swan and elephant sculptures from towels and left them on the kids beds, I mean who could ask for more?!!

Wow what can I say! My husband I and our guests had the most AMAZING wedding at Tongsai Bay. It was everything we ever dreamed of.

Tongsai Bay is an amazing resort, its such a peaceful and beautiful place and the service is 5 star plus! Everyone commented on how stunning it was and as soon as we walked in I knew we made the right decision, we hope to one day come back and stay here again. Its by far the best place we have ever stayed in. Its a place where you don't have to leave, we stayed in a seaview villa and it was worth the money, the view was stunning. The food and service was 5 star plus.

The wedding - was perfectly organised by Hiro and the team, I didnt have to worry about a thing, the setup, flowers, etc were all amazing and the buffet our guests were talking about for the whole week after!! Alot of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to.

The managers were also so lovely and a pleasure to deal with, always went out of their way to make us feel happy.

Stay here as its the best place we have ever stayed at in Samui, if you love the beauty of nature and being surrounded by it you will love this resort.

Room Tip: Seaview cottage, go for it

We stayed in the Cottage Suites at the Tongsai Bay for four nights in July with two children (5 and 3) and one set of grandparents. The hotel had kindly upgraded us, and placed us in rooms next to each other. The rooms felt spacious, even our room where they made up two extra small beds for the children.

The setting was beautiful, gardens well maintained, and rooms with a view of the sea.

The hotel is child-friendly without targeting families. There is a room children can find toys in, and watch a film in the evening, but there are no kids clubs etc. You can borrow DVDs or books from the hotel’s library to keep children occupied in the hotter afternoon hours. Tongsai Bay also provides kayaks etc for guests to use (free of charge), and we were able to take our five year old and Grandma (!) out for their first kayaking experiences which they both loved.

There is a shallow pool for young children to splash in, slightly removed from the main pool. The main pool is unusual with its sloping sides and ‘islands’. In addition, the availability of a private adults-only pool means that guests who are looking for peace and quiet are not disturbed.

Tongsai’s private beach means it is peaceful and no one bothers you.
However, Chaweng beach, which is much busier, is a better beach - white, fine sand and shallower - so the children can go out quite far. Chaweng beach is only 10 minutes away though so you can plan a day there (the hotel arranges drop off and pick up; or you can use a taxi or a red songtau to get you back)

The food is excellent with a variety of Western and Asian options, and a children’s menu. My in-laws in particular, who love a good buffet, loved breakfast! My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Chef Chom’s Thai Restaurant – the food was delicious and authentic. We also liked the fusion tapas at Butler’s restaurant – a much smaller restaurant, ideal for a romantic date. Butler’s is only open a few days of the week so it’s worth checking and making a booking.

Tongsai’s team is also incredibly friendly and helpful. They were excellent with the children too. The hotel seems to think about little things which help guests feel like they matter (ice cool water, cold towels, cut fruit at the pool, cocktails on the beach while watching the sun set, fruit baskets, flower arrangements on your pillows, cute folded towels etc, a pastry with a message from the hotel wishing us a safe journey).

For those of you considering staying here, the hotel has a lot of steps, leading to rooms and within the suites we stayed in, so if you have difficulty walking up and down steps, I think that this may not be the best hotel for you (though it is lovely).

I stayed at a seafront pool villa for 7 nights with my wife and 5 years old daughter. We had really relaxing and comfortable time as a whole, despite of some issues of facility and cost-benefit.
The most impressive and unforgettable experience is definitely staff's great hospitality. They were always really friendly and thoughtful so that all guests would be relaxed. Our family were remembered soon after check-in and given full treatment including a lot of entertainment for my daughter.
Every morning, a staff made special porridge for my daughter and another staff in fruits counter served us fruits juice that was freshly made in front of us. On the beachfront, staff kept appropriate distance and served a glass of cold water, icy towels and some fresh fruits. There's no need to say about quality about foods of breakfast, lunch and dinner. On top of that, we got home made snacks such as pieces of chocolate cake, muffins, sandwich and fresh fruits every afternoon in our room. Through all circumstances, we had warm and interesting conversation with staffs who are full of smile. These are just limited part of hospitality.
However, I regretfully must say few things about facility from point of cost-benefit. As I wrote, we stayed at a seafront pool villa. Although this villa is spacious and relatively newer than other room, a shower head adjuster was cracked, a plug of washbasin was nearly broken, the main bed did not have a mosquito net, please be noted that there are so many mosquitos at Tongsai bay, private pool is too small to swim, etc. These are of course not critical issues for staying yet can not be justified for this room's rate. I would never say such things, If we had stayed paying two third of original cost.
Don't get me wrong, I do not mean to complain about quality of Tongsai bay,but I would just like to point out few issues that other guests might also be disappointed depending on a room they choose.
Lastly, I would like to strongly recommend Japanese guests to have much communication with staffs. Tongsai bay is the really Japanese guests friendly hotel, but If you would try to communicate even in broken English, staffs would be pleased to respond to your approach. English is second language for both of us. I am also Japanese. We do not need to use sophisticated English.

Room Tip: Seafront pool villa may be expensive for its value. If you do not have particular interest in having...

If you need a truly relaxing holiday this is the place to go to. We were not interested in doing any of the sightseeing or activities offered to tourists on Koh Samui, we just wanted a week of peace and quiet, good food, and comfortable surroundings before heading to Bangkok. And that's exactly what we got. The hotel is clearly popular with couples and families alike, which pleased us - adult only hotels can be a bit stuffy and humourless. If you don't want to hear children enjoying themselves, the infinity pool is for adults only and has a gorgeous view. Please do not be put off by the reviews that talk about the rough sand on the beach - it is coarse and scratchy, but it's all natural and there is a real beauty in that. It is a completely private beach in a small bay, not just an area marked out for hotel guests on a public beach which is what you get at a lot of the other hotels.
We ate in all the hotel restaurants and enjoyed all the food, but our favourite was the Po-Lad Bistro by the beach. At other hotels you pay a fortune to eat on the beach, here it is just the regular thing to do! Usually I am put off by hotels that have more than a couple of restaurants because we don't like big resort places, but the Tongsai manages to offer the best of both worlds - choice of cuisine but retaining the boutique hotel feel. They deal with food allergies brilliantly, and because everything is freshly prepared they can tailor the menu to your requirements. Breakfast is excellent - definitely something for everyone, you will not go hungry! The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful - attentive but not intrusive - they appear to genuinely want you to have the best experience possible.
The beach staff bring you towels and iced water immediately, and come round with cold cloths and fruit - it would be nice if they came round a bit more frequently to take drinks orders, they could be making a lot more money as everyone is always thirsty and the drinks are excellent! Wine is incredibly expensive, but the hotel are refreshingly honest about this and take the time to explain that it is because of the high tax - but the good news is that the other drinks are very reasonably priced for such a top-drawer hotel (especially compared to prices in Europe) so forget the wine and try something different.
There are kayaks and 2 Hobie Cats for guests to take out into the bay, which we used every day. It would be better if the staff could be a bit more knowledgeable about some of the technical aspects of sailing, and the life-jackets probably need upgrading, but it's a great facility and not many Koh Samui hotels seem to offer it.
Our room was lovely - we were upgraded on arrival to a cottage suite as they were doing some maintenance work to the top floor beachfront suites we had booked. But honestly the beachfront suites in the main building looked great and are well-placed for the pool and beach, so I would have happily stayed in one. Hotel provides plug-in mosquito repellent, but if mosquitoes really love you it is best to take repellent spray and wear long trousers/skirts and long-sleeved tops in the evenings. I learnt the hard way!
Yes, you will see insects and beautiful butterflies, lots of birds, the odd harmless snake, and lizards (one very big one!) - the owners are passionate about the environment and taking care of the flora and fauna - but everywhere on site is clean and well-maintained, stylish but not at all corporate - just delightful.
We would definitely go back, it suited us perfectly.

We stayed 5 nights at Tongsai bay & it was truly an unforgettable experience! The staff is superb & so attentive to every detail. Thai folks are incredibly nice, as a whole but the staff at Tongsai went above & beyond. The beach is gorgeous! No big boats coming & going & clear blue waters. All the rooms overlook the bay & are perfect little bungalows. The food was excellent as well. The hotel puts a lot of influence into being environmentally aware. They use top quality local farms for produce & meats. We spent a month in Thailand, and the food at Tongsai was some of the best we had. The GM, Lisa, went out of her way to make us feel right at home & included us in a special evening of amazing food & drinks at the new outdoor restaurant. We will absolutely visit again & would urge anyone looking in to visiting Koh Samui to check out Tongsai Bay.

Room Tip: The seaside villas are gorgeous
