“Spent a week, wish it was longer...”
Reviewed 27 January 2013

Spent a week here in September 2012 whilst in Koh Samui for a wedding. Great location, close enough to everything that its a very short taxi ride, but far enough removed from the hive of activity in chawang. Very friendly staff, plenty to do at the resort, god sized rooms, beautiful gardens, lovely infinity pool with swim up bar (and very strong Long Island iced tea!).

Very relaxing place, will definitely go back on e the renovations are finished. Quite looking forward to see how they look to improve what was already a very good place.

Room Tip: If you want to lash out, the bigger vilas wih private plunge pool and garden are a good way to go.

Family of 12 had a marvelous stay from Dec 26 2012 to Jan 2 2013. The hotel is very well placed, right on the beach, and a very short walk to the Fisherman's Village. The best area on the island as we found out later. From the first moment of our arrival from Chiang Mai, we were made to feel so welcomed. We ranged in age from 71 to 12, but everyone was so well catered for,, and as it is not one of the really big hotels, we did not have any trouble keeping an eye on everyone. Wonderful attentive staff throughout.. Sorry to say but I do have a couple of complaints. First, and most important - the High price of the Compulsory New Year's Gala Dinner, which added quite a lot to our bill. Torrential rain all afternoon, so the staff had to revise their plans for the evening. Here I must compliment the Bar and Catering staff for all their hard work, to make it such a memorable evening. Another minor complaint - pool bar not well placed as it was hidden, and not enough tables/chairs to cater for our large party. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel, especially after they finish their restoration. Thanks

Another more important complaint was the Compulsory New Year's Gala Dinner at a very high price especially paying full price for all .Although, I must compliment the Bar and Catering staff for the excellent way they coped - most of the afternoon we had torrential rain and by 6.30pm the marquee was flooded. They re-arranged the cocktail reception - held in the hotel itself,

Room Tip: as the golden oldies, we had a ground floor poolside room, which suited us. The rest were on opposi...

Great hotel, with really lovely staff willing to help in any way. Although some extensive renovations are imminent, our room was delightful. No complaints at all and the welcoming bubble bath with orchids was an added bonus. Gardens were superb, but did lead to a few "no-see-ums" nipping at our ankles a lot of the time, particularly in the eclipse breakfast area. However, a minor comment on an otherwise lovely 10 day stay, particularly with all the bars and restaurants of Fisherman's Village so close by.

Beautiful beachfront resort with lush gardens. Excellent pool. A fantastic place to relax, to pamper yourself, and get away from your everyday life. Walking distance to the Fisherman’s Village -- cute shops, restaurants and bars in restored shophouses. Much better than busy Chaweng beach.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a pool facing room. Right from checkin to checkout, the experience was memorable. There is nothing that we did not like about this property from Anantara.
My particular favourite was the evening drinks we had at the beach where the large cushion like seats were placed and one can enjoy the sunset with the best choice of drinks.
The location is also good and was a few metres walk to the nearby cafes and restaurants. The weekly night market is also in the vicinity.
I had made a few special requests and the Room Service team ensured that every request was addressed to. Kudos to the team for that.
The outdoor seating area / balcony attached to our room was fabulous and it surely enhances the holiday experience.
As for the food, the only meals we had at the resort was breakfast and in line with our other experiences here, no complaints with this one as well. The spread was good and to our liking ..

Room Tip: We wanted a room which faces the beach .... It was a bit noisy as our room faced the pool as well...

We loved the resort, the staff, the spa and the location. The view from our room was perfect with two balconies. There were plenty of things to do and it's an easy walk to both the Fisherman's Village along the beach, or out to the road for more authentic (and cheaper) food. Highly recommend this if you're looking to stay in Bophut.

Room Tip: We booked the Royal Seaview Suite, which was a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. Rm 338 w...

We are just back from a fantastic stay at the Anantara, but can make the following comments. Very caring, well trained and understanding staff in a good hotel. There is no point in making a statement about rooms and facilities as the hotel is apparently going under some serious renovation this year, which I think is needed but when complete will make it outstanding. Food at the Half Moon is excellent and is up there with the very best the island has to offer, and there are many good ones nearby in Fishermans Village - the location of the hotel has to be the best in the area for access. There are a lot of little things the hotel does that sets it above the rest, like the lighting of the flames ceremony every evening and the preperation of 'street food' at the pool daily. We would definately go back but will wait for the refurbishment.

Room Tip: If you want some space - choose a suite, they are not that large but are better. Try to get nearer...

You are right, the hotel will close from April 16th to November 15th for a renovation: upgrade of the rooms facilities, lobby area, and breakfast restaurant! We can’t wait to see the “new” Anantara Bophut!
