Not long ago I stayed at the Anantara Bophut with 3 friends. First we stayed at the vacation club in a suite with a large living room, 2 large bed rooms, fully furnished kitchen and a nice lush garden with private pool. For the rest of the stay we moved to the newly renovated junior garden view suite which are very spacious with a stylish fit-out and a lot of attention paid to details.

As all other Anantara’s, Bophut is great just to relax at the pool or beach but also offers a very wide variety of activites which we fully explored. We had a 2-hour Muay Thai session with a former Muay Thai professional in their beautiful gardens full of exotic plants, trees and flowers. As we all love Thai cuisine we went for a half-day cooking class which also included a visit to the local market where our chef took us through all the typical Thai fruits, vegetables and spices before heading back to the hotel for the cook of. The session was very well organised, prepared and every step was explained in detail by a very knowledgeable and passionate chef.

Their spa is a pure oasis of tranquillity and relaxation and the massage was absolutely amazing, the perfect way to finish the day after a full day of scuba diving.

The dining facilities are definitely worth mentioning as well. The breakfast buffet is very extensive, nicely presented and had something for every taste bud. One night we had a dinner at the Full Moon restaurant where we experienced contemporary Koh Samuian style char grill fusion cuisine on an elevated deck overlooking the pool and the sea. The starts showcased a proper fusion style cuisine and the mixed BBQ platters were prepared with perfection. I was very impressed with their Salt Guru, kind of a salt sommelier who pairs a wide selection of different salts with what you ordered.

Last but definitely not least, the service was always spot on and the stuff show great passion in what they do, always a smile on their face and clearly shows they love what they do. Truly a great experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and for sure would go back next time I am on Koh Samui.

We stayed at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui and had a lovely time. From the moment we were welcomed to our departure, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Concierge Gift organized a couple of excursions for us, we went diving in Koh Tao and saw some of the sights on the island with a private car. The landscaping in Bophut is amazing and the lighting ceremony of the torches around the lilly pond in the evening a nice touch. The rooms have recently been renovated and are very comfortable. We had dinner both in the hotel and outside, there are many restaurants and bars in Fisherman's village a short walk from the hotel pool. I would like to mention the Full Moon Restaurant in the hotel, overlooking the pool with both international and Thai Cuisine. On Tuesdays live music is there, which made our dinner even more special. Even day when in the hotel we would have street food for lunch which is prepared at a booth around the pool, I loved the Pad Thai. Twice a week they do a BBQ on the beach, we loved having dinner with our feet in the sand. Breakfast is nice, lots of variety and the staff there are great. I would like to mention Jacek, Frost and Lilly who remembered our names from the very first time we came there. The pool in the hotel is beautiful and you can choose between loungers or fatboys, very relaxing. The hotel library offers books and DVD's, which we thought was a nice service. We did visit the Chaoweng area once and thought that our beach was much nicer and more quiet. We had a wonderful 10 days in Bophut and take home many memories. We will be back next year!

What a great escape for 5 days!
The staff are extremely friendly, professional and helpful.

Been here with 3 friends in the newly renovated Resort, and had two rooms (newly renovated!!!).
Superb F&B offering, varied in different restaurants, so you will not get bored during your stay.

Can recommend for romatic get-away or a wekkend trip from BKK.

Room Tip: A group of people should try and get Anantara vacation club for more privacy. If not, poolside rooms...

Our first family holiday in 15 years included 7 adults and 1 baby. We all travelled from Australia to Koh Samui specifically to stay at the Anantara - but were left with a very unpleasant and traumatic experience. We booked 4 rooms/suites for a 7 night stay and all departed within 3-4 days back to our respective transit countries. Day 1 - we arrived and ate lunch at the hotel, with our 2nd meal (dinner from Cafe 69, highly recommended). The next day 1 family member started to feel ill with fever and stomach problems.

From hereon, we ate ALL meals at the hotel. Day 2, a second family member fell violently ill, vomiting non-controlably with fever. As a result, both went to hospital emergency ward. Day 3, and 3 more family members had to go into hospital with the same symptoms with 2 having to stay overnight at the hospital. We were all extremely worried especially with one baby in our travelling party and decided to make arrangements to leave the hotel ASAP. On the night of Day 3, one more family member fell ill with same symptoms, ending up in emergency and having to stay overnight too. 



Throughout the ordeal, we had heard nothing from the hotel until the one remaining healthy member of our family made a serious complaint to the hotel about their lack of assistance and attention to the issue. Although the hotel will never admit it was their food or water, we ate all meals together at the hotel and drank all the bottled water from the hotel.

We had extensive blood and other medical tests done and received the results that we all contracted a waterborne bacterial infection. We decided to take a closer look at the water source at the hotel and the water coming from their wash basins, shower, toilet etc was YELLOW, as shown in the image provided. The question is, if the water is yellow and the water is all from the same source, we must ask if they are using the same water to wash their food etc. 



FURTHERMORE, on our first day of our stay, we found a snake wrapped around the door of one of the executive suites, to which we called the hotel staff. Although they tried to find the snake to no avail, on the 3rd night of our stay, another snake was found late at night in the wash basin of the same villa. Albeit it was a small snake, but we do not expect snakes to be found in our room. The hotel staff tried to convince us to stay in the room after the second snake complaint was made, but we were only able to change rooms upon our own insistence.

Throughout our stay, we also had ensure that all doors were kept closed with our rooms as there was a major mosquito problem around the hotel and with dengue fever being a problem in these parts, it can be a major worry.



All in all, our time at the hotel was a very disappointing and unpleasant, ruining our family holiday. We immediately made plans to fly out once we were well enough to travel as 6 out of 7 adult family members were extremely sick and had to seek further medical attention in our transit cities. We are thankful that the baby was not infected and the mother was fine too. It has been 2 weeks since the incidents and a few of us are still recovering health wise from this ordeal. 

We had several meetings with the hotel General Manager, Christian - and he was professional enough to not charge for our hotel rooms, but we were still charged for services (massage) and transport costs.

However, with costs of flights, medical expenses and a loss of opportunity to have an actual holiday - it was anything but a enjoyable experience. This was the first family holiday in 15 years to celebrate our parents 60th birthdays, but we could not spend anytime celebrating since we were all too sick and had to recover throughout our stay.

Anantara holds all guests’ wellbeing and safety in the highest regard and upholds stringent safety standards throughout the hotel. Once we found out about your symptoms we ensured that your family members experiencing the stomach illness received the proper care and were provided with optimum comfort for the rest of their stay.

Anantara is known for its excellent level of hygiene standards worldwide and is part of the Food Safety Management System set up by ECOLAB. As a company we took your reported situation very seriously and as a result, the management has worked closely with local entities to explore all options for a possible source, both in and around the resort.

Although the offer of compensation for your stay can never cover family holiday memories, should you decide to give any of our Anantara resorts another try it will be my pleasure to personally assist you with that and to indulge you in the service standards that has given our resorts their international reputation.

My wife and I were hoping to have a very special week in Koh Samui for our 5-year wedding anniversary.

However, immediately upon our arrival they hit us up for timeshares, touristy activities, etc. Zero service @ the bar or pool for two straight days (the bartender actually gave me a little bottle of soda water and a warm shot of vodka when I asked for a rather simple vodka-soda…).

We ended up moving to the W, and suggest you do the same.

Got a beachfront one bedroom pool villa. Nice resort with superb seaview except that the sea of course will not be as nice as those island hopping islands when you go to Thailand.

Nice ambience with nice food around the vincity and get a car to drive around too as it really a relativley small island .

not much night market like bangkok except for the one and only biggest night market at the fisherman village near our resort which only operated once a week which is on fri nite.

We arrived at this hotel after a really long journey from the UK so we were very tired and hot. We did not expect to be greeted by such an amazing hotel. On our arrival we were given a refreshing drink and snack whilst the staff brought our bags to the room. I feel that words cannot describe how relaxed we both felt as soon as we arrived there. There was a very tranquil feel to the hotel with a jungle feel to the gardens and pleasant birds noises where you can relax in a hammock or sheltered hut. Our room was very quiet, spacious, comfortable and cleaned twice daily. The staff in the hotel are genuinely really nice and seem to have every aspect of service covered. The breakfast caters for every cuisine! I couldn't believe the variety of food and loved sampling it.The hotel gym opens at 6am until 9pm so plenty of time to work off the over indulgence!! There was cooked English breakfast, meats, cheeses, pastries, noodles and much more. The hotel is maintained to a very high standard and the pool area is immaculate. You can look over the beach whilst chilling on the sun loungers which is great if you don't fancy get sandy sunbathing on the beach, My boyfriend and I struggled to think of a criticism of the hotel, it truly is a wonderful place and we loved every minute of our stay.
