“Brill location, great staff, service and food”
Reviewed 18 October 2010

Stayed at the Anantara for 2 weeks in June with my spouse.
We chose Bophut because it seemed to offer the best of both worlds: quiet with many bars and restaurants a stroll away.
We booked the hotel at a discounted price because there was some building work going on next door. I believe they were building some villas as part of the hotel.
We weren't bothered by the noise as our room was well away from the works.
The room was spacious, clean and tidy and the decoration was beautiful.
The room and cleaning service was excellent, they went the extra mile to make our stay great.
Towards the end of our stay we had to speak to the manager because some building work to fix the Full Moon roof had started, I understand it was a bit of an emergency and it needed to be completed before the rainy season. Unfortunately this meant loud noise around the pool. (The restaurant is by the pool). The manager emphatised with us and after a couple of conversations with them, work was stopped, we were impressed and delighted by this course of action as the main purpose of our holiday was to relax. We also got a free upgrade and the suite room which was great, but the standard rooms are brilliant.
The hotel was great, the food at the Full Moon restaurant fantastic. We mainly had lunch by the pool and it was superb. We had dinner in Bophut which is 2 minute walk from the hotel.
The pool side staff are incredibly attentive and on the ball.
Just a couple of things that I was expecting but I didn't get: you have to pay to use the hotel's wifi connexion and the spa prices are quite high.
Overall we had a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

We have just got back from a lovely stay at this hotel. At first we were given a room on the "building work side" and although we had been warned that this was still ongoing, we were lead to believe that it was in the final stages and only internal works at the time of our stay. This was not the case and was quite noisey. It was fine at night but if you wanted to rest in your room during the day it was annoying. I asked after 2 nights if we could be moved to the other side of the hotel. There were no rooms available but we were offered a suite which is much bigger than the room on the same side. As it was bigger you couldn't hear the building work as much and the luxury and views from the suite made up for any incovenience we were caused. The staff really do go out of their way to help you with anything you require and this is what makes the hotel in my opinion. The pool is wonderful. We didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel as we were meeting up with friends who were staying in nearby Fishermans Village so we ate there every night. There are some wonderful restaurants and I recommend the seafood platter at the Tiny Grill. Shades was a bit of a disappointment, but all the others we ate in were excellent! We had a few massages whilst we were there but didn't go to the hotel spa as it was very expenisve and you can get a great massage in Fishermans Village for a fraction of the price. So to sum up the hotel would make a perfect wedding or honeymoon destination and we had an absolutely great time there.

We stayed at the Anantara Bo Phut for one week in October following a one week stay at the Anantara Phuket Villas.

The Resort is very beautiful and our room (a King Suite) was perfect for a one week stay with lovely water views, two balconies and a lounge area.

The Resort is in a great area, around 20 minutes from the main Chaweng Beach area. The beach is ok for swimming although there are quite a few hawkers on the beach - we didn't mind this as we found them all to be very friendly and quite entertaining!

The Resort is a very short walk to Fisherman's Village where you will enjoy a great local experience in the many restaurants and shops. There are heaps to choose from and there is no need to eat at the Restaurant, although we did enjoy the Resort's outdoor beach BBQ one night.

Breakfast was included each morning and to be honest we were quite disappointed with the selection and quality, however after staying at the Anantara Phuket we were probably a little spoilt!

It is around $10AUD for a taxi ride to Chaweng where there are plenty of markets and lots of activity.

We did not hear any construction noise whilst at the Hotel, although there is a lovely modern Resort next door. We considered finding out about the new Resort for a future stay but decided it didn't have the Thai charm of the Anantara.

This Resort is great for couples and we would highly recommend it to family and friends.

This hotel was spectacular..we are happy we decided to stay at this resort in Koh Samui. My fiance and I picked the Essense Spa Package and booked directly with the hotel. The MBZ pick up added a nice touch at the airport with cold towels and fresh water. We should of upgraded and were offered an upgrade to a Jr. suite after a couple of nights since our room was too small. There was no room for our suitcases but we were there for only three nights and did not want to lug our stuff to another room.
The concierge arranged a tour to Ang Thong Marine Park which went smoothly and was very beautiful. So worth the visit...the Moon Restaurant food was superb. Crying baby next to us kinda ruined our romantic setting.
I have to say the Spa was the tops. It felt as you were walking into the Garden of Eden. You have a private building which looks like an old temple with big doors. It was made of glass inside with a superb garden. We had the best massages ever!! I could go there every night. Mahash the Mgr. was very nice and accomodating with trying to make everyone happy. This resort is an excellent set up for a romantic couples retreat. Do not recommend children because of the settings and lots of mosquitos with the Thai Garden. We rented a car and toured the island one day. Do not recommend a motorbike unless you only plan on visiting Chaweng Beach. The island is way too large and lots of traffic.
We would love to come back one day! The Spa sold us...it is a must!!

This is a beautiful hotel and the service provided by the staff was spot on every time. Even the gardening staff stop their work and greet you as you pass. The grounds are stunning and the rooms beautifully laid out. The spa is the best I've seen and the food and drinks were lovely. We stayed at 2 other hotels of a similar price range and this was by far the best.

We found the location to be very good as once you get out to the main road you can catch a bus into Chaweng for 50 baht and there is a mini-mart for water nearby. Also outside hotel across the road is the best Thai massage place I've yet to find in Thailand - and believe me I went to plenty...

Now here is the BUT when it comes to this hotel...

Unfortunately our stay was ruined by extensive building works happening next door that went to past 11:00pm and started again around 7:30am. When we complained the staff gave us an extended check out and also discounted our food bill by 30% which was very much appreciated.

But before you book this hotel you need to ensure that the building work is finished or else it will not be a good experience for you.

Enjoy and I hope you have a peaceful stay.

Spent 5 nights at this hotel.

5 star rate was correct, rooms were very good, we even had our own fish in a tank !

Gardens and surroundings of the hotel well looked after, pool and beach great, everything you could ask for for a relaxing stay.

No need to eat at the hotel as 5 mins walk from the hotel was fishermans village which offered lots of places to eat and drink with the view of the sea.

Would definately stay here again

We had the pleasure of staying at the Anantara Bophut last June and loved it so much that we extended our visit to Koh Samui just so that we wouldn't have to check out. I have lived in Asia for four years and this was the best experience I have had traveling. The combination of the hotel suite, the outdoor space, view & beach were by far the best I have visited.

We have two small children (2 year old & 3 month old) and the property was perfect for the four of us. We stayed in the Royal Anantara Garden Suite with plunge pool and couldn't have been happier with the room. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for a playpen, stroller and all the suitcases and gear that we had with us. The bed was roomy and comfortable and right across from the TV and two sets of sliding glass doors. The suite has a magnificent grass area with a putting green and can easily be compared to a small front yard, more than large enough for us to play with the children. The plunge pool was refreshing and complimented by two outdoor showers. I would often put the plumerias that had fallen from the trees into the pool and my daughter loved playing with them. The terrace wrapped around the suite and had three sliding glass doors leading into the room and an additional door towards the back of the room that led into the bathroom. The main pool was easily accessed thru the terrace and we didn't have to be bothered walking down the main hallway of the property. The beach was just steps away and is one of the best beaches I have seen in Southeast Asia. The sand was soft and the water was warm.

We ate most of our meals at the hotel and were very pleased with the quality of the Thai food. Not all hotels in Thailand have such great Thai food available on property. We went out to Fisherman Village one night but thought that the Anantara's F&B was much better than what we had there.

The staff at the hotel was friendly, accomodating and happy to meet all our needs. My husband and I had several spa treatments and I personally loved the outdoor treatment rooms. It was wonderful to be able to be outside and have a treatment done followed by an outdoor shower.

We can't wait to go back and try the two bedroom villas once they open later this year. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friend and plan to return ourselves.
