As soon as we arrived at the Zazen we felt very welcome. The entrance is very beautiful and the boutique theme is tasteful throughout. We wanted one of the beach front rooms but they were full on the dates we wanted to stay. If available I would definitely recommend having a beachfront villa.

The beach is lovely with very attentive staff and big comfy beds. The pool is quite small.

We had lovely breakfast, lunch and dinners. In fact once we arrived we did not leave the hotel for 2 days because the food was so good we did not want to!

I would definitely recommend the spa. The therapists were really helpful and made the whole experience relaxing.

Overall a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it and revisit it.

From the time we arrived until we where dragged from the resort kicking and screaming 'we don't want to go', the experience was amazing. The staff where friendly, attentive, smilies at all times, always providing outstanding service, from check-in to restaurant to beach lads and chamber ladies. The rooms spacious, comfortable beds and the bathrooms - wicked. Lovely area out the front to sit and chat. (There where 5 of us staying).
The position of the resort was great, lovely location. It really is as they show in the photos. Easy to access any part of the island.
The only downside is that the water was a little dirty at times, so, luckily, the pool is situated just up from the beach.
We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Samui. Plan is to return in 2 years time,

Room Tip: We stayed in room 11 and 12, convenient for beach, restaurant, quiet.

This was our second stay here at Zazen and any fears that it wouldn't live up to our glorious memories of our previous stay 3 years ago were allayed upon arrival. The new (since our last stay at least) reception area is beautiful and the staff were as friendly and welcoming as ever. Little touches like a welcome cocktail drink and cool fragrant towels were particularly special.

We stayed in a Garden Villa, which was spacious and well decorated. The beds are also soft and comfortable especially compared to the standard hard mattresses quite common in Thailand!

Zazen is in a lovely location, a quiet end of Bophut beach but still with plenty of atmosphere. The beach side attendants are ever ready to bring drinks and snacks, and indeed every afternoon a complimentary iced peach tea (delicious!) and fresh fruit finds its way to you even if you are dozing on a sun lounger!

It is such a relaxing place, we shall definitely be returning here and we wouldn't stay anywhere else on Samui. Zazen is family-run and it shows. You really feel welcome like an old friend, even if you are there for the first time. I was also slightly unwell during my stay and the stay seemed genuinely concerned and were so eager to do anything to make me feel better and even arranged a free transfer to the doctor. Also, our flight didn't leave until the evening so even though we had to vacate the room at midday, Zazen stored our bags while we spent the day on the beach and in the bar, still adding food and items to our room bill and then before checking out, there is a huge suite near reception with a large private shower and changing room where we could get ready for travel. This is a fantastic amenity!

Impeccable, professional, friendly, welcoming - simply fantastic. I cannot recommend Zazen and the team highly enough. We can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: We stayed in a Garden Villa close to the beach (19) which was lovely. Rooms 7 & 9 opposite ours...

A great place to relax!! The grounds and rooms of Zazen was very well maintained and comfortable! The service in Zazen was impeccable, the staff was very friendly and attentive!! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the food in the restaurant was delicious!! The view from the beach was gorgeous, the only drawback was that the sand is rough and the water was murky. The location of the resort was great, it is a 15min beach walk to Fisherman's Village where you can enjoy some shopping and street food vendors!!

Dear Leelee,

Thank you for your review. We are glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us, and your comments have been shared with the team.

Your remarks regarding the beach is understandable as during this season, strong tides sometimes makes the water a little blurred. The thick sand on the other hand is similar on most Samui island.

Thank you for choosing Zazen as a place for your holidays and we look forward to welcoming you back with us again soon.

With best regards,

Very nice and quiet resort with friendly and professional staff. Overall a good choice with a beautiful view across the Bophut Beach. Breakfast is à la carte with very tasteful choices.

One minor drawback was the special lobster menu they had for the Samui food festival. At 7000 baht for 2 with one bottle of wine we were a bit disappointed. Although the Cheff put a lot of effort in the presentation, the tastes just weren't there or were bland or mismatch. Since for this price you can eat at a Michelin star restaurant in Europe we decided not to have another diner in their restaurant and looked elswhere the other evenings.

Dear Stenne,

Greetings from Koh Samui

We wish to express our sincerest appreciation for choosing Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa for spending your holiday.

We also greatly appreciate your time invested to share your concern with us as such constructive feedback enables us to monitor and improve our quality service standards.

Further to your comment regarding the our Lobster Decadence Menu, we informed the Chef about your remarks, who has obviously taken it into consideration for improving his menu. Regarding the price, please note that it directly yielded from the products we use. Lobster and langoustine are imported and received alive and therefore high quality products. Moreover wine in Thailand is very expensive due to a 400% tax on imported wines. Nevertheless, 7000 Baht for two makes around 87 euro per person is still cheaper than any Michelin Star restaurant in Europe for a Lobster dinner with wine.

Once again our appreciation for your constructive comments and we look forward to the privilege of welcoming you back to Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa to allow us to showcase the initiated improvements on our Lobster menu.

Yours sincerely

We recently returned to our beloved Koh Samui for our honeymoon (my third visit to the island; my husband's second). While there we were delighted to discover the Samui fine dining festival happening, and as a couple of 'foodies', we had to check it out. The one we chose to experience was at Zazen's signature restaurant, and we were not disappointed...the ambience was wonderful, we enjoyed traditional musicians and dancers, and had the most amazing Lobster Indulgence degustation menu. Filling but not overwhelming, and with some real creativity in th dish design and presentation. It was our biggest indulgence of the trip and worth every penny. A fabulous night and the staff were attentive without hovering.
