“Peaceful, lovely spot”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

We spent a week at this resort & loved the peace & quiet. It's a lovely spot overlooking a bay ringed by islands, a haven for Thai fishing boats in rough weather. Close enough to town to walk - don't miss the Friday street fair with great mai-tais at Fisherman's Village. Our bungalow was traditional Thai style, painted & tiled in bright colors, large rooms, very clean. Enjoyed coffee & drinks on our private deck. The staff was very pleasant & accommodating: when we mentioned that our bed was very hard they brought in a mattress topper withing minutes, which was a great help. This is a family owned resort & is very well maintained with beautiful gardens. Pool was delightful, & we enjoyed watching the action on the beach. The restaurant serves a tasty breakfast, & for dinner will make a spicy curry if you request it! Staff is great, from the manager to the cleaning & gardening staff. This is the quieter side of Samui & has the best weather. We had a wonderful week here & hope to return for another!

August 11, 2014. Dear Don,,,,,,, Thank you very much for your supporting review of your stay at Lawana Resort. We definitely offer a 'holiday' vacation with no mass tourism, no noisy bars, no noisy water crafts except the extravaganza of the fishing boats at night. The town, the fisherman village is 10 minutes walk on the beach for more than 50 local restaurants, prices may be high so it is cheaper to eat at the resort. Ou set Thai menu is B580 for two persons, set on the beach, if you will want to plan.
When you are ready to return please contact the resort or myself directly so we can offer special low rates for all our return guests and free airport pick up. We have just added more fresh natural orchids in our garden for the August high season. Our garden has been noted at one of the very top in Ko Samui, beating all the luxurious hotels.

We were a couple travelling with 9 year old daughter and stayed 6 nights.

Great value, great service, great setting (beautifully cared for, lush gardens) and the location (about 10 mins walk down the beach to Fisherman's Village) suited us perfectly. Used Lawana's restaurant for the odd lunch and dinner and walked along beach to try out neighbouring resorts and the fantastic selection in the village at other times. Free wifi which worked well most of the time. The bunk beds in the room we had a great idea, free postcards a nice touch. Nice room bathroom, good shower pressure and temperatures.

A few minor observations - the "2 for one" lunch menu is a nice idea but we didn't find it very practical as we seldom wanted two of exactly the same thing. The wooden platform our mattress was on (room 133) was pretty creaky. The airconditioning in that room was quite noisy even though we turned the fan down to low. There are signs in reception saying that there is a computer you can use for a payment but when I asked the staff said they didn't have one any more. Fair enough, most people are on iphones these days anyway, but why not just take down the signs? The massages on offer by the team between the beach and pool were great. I had a "foot scrub" as well one day and the chemical painted on the sole of my foot actually burnt a small hole in the skin (about the size of a NZ 10 cent coin on the side of one of my feet. I have no idea why it only did this in one place, and its healing up ok so I'm not worried about it but it has put me off having any treatments involving applying products which are not properly branded.

These are all minor points, I would happily go back to Lawana Resort with my family and would definitely recommend BoPhut as a location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room towards the pool if possible (the resort is on a long, thin site reaching about 400m...

Stayed here with my family for a week. Liked it so much that we came back for the last two nights on our trip to Thailand.
Nice and clean pool area and good breakfast. Friendly staff.
If we go back to Koh Samui Lawana will be a part of it.
Thank you Lawana!

July 22, 2014 Dear Kent, we sincerely appreciate your taking time to give us one of the happiest reviews we ever have received. It has been an honour from your part deciding to stay with us in the first place. We definitely run a decent beach resort, clean rooms, nice beach, perfect location for a h8liday with everything within a short walk, the supermarket, banks, atm, pharmacy, the fisherman village, 50 local restaurants, very mature tropical garden with a lot of real orchid in full bloom. Our staff may not speak the best English but guests are more than compensated with their smiles and readiness to extend services. Please contact us directly when you plan your next visit. Please also tell your friends that it is cheaper to book with us directly and any questions you may have answered. We guarantee full value for the rates you pay.

Got the two bungalows with the private spa in the middle, arrived to it in a clean and neat condition. We requested in our online booking for one bungalow to have two single beds, rather than a double, and they did that with no complications. Loved the Thai feel of the bungalows. The staff were definitely extremely helpful, polite, friendly and always up for a chat when seeing you around the resort. The pool was cleaned daily and ready for the resort stayers before the opening time of the pool. The buffet breakfast was very good with a large variety of options. Likewise, the dinner menu at the restaurant had a large variety of options for quite a good price. Loved every minute of our stay at Lawana. 10/10!!!

This is a wonderful place to stay. On arrival at reception we were greeted by very helpful happy staff. We were given 2 complimentary bottles of water. Once checked in which was very speedy we were shown to our room, a garden deluxe Villa, which was beautiful, very clean and another 2 bottles of water in the fridge, which are refreshed every day of your stay. The room itself I was sharing with my mother and the twin beds were very comfortable and lovely crisps sheets. Lovely clean bathroom, with toiletries and a bath in all rooms. You also get complimentary coffee and hot water heater, TV and air con.
Our bungalow was very close to the pool and restaurant but we still found it quiet and peaceful. I must say it is low season but even with families in the pool our room was still quiet.
Breakfast is lovely, there have been some reviews on here to say that it is not very good, I disagree. You have tea, coffee, fruit juice, 3 different types of bread, croissants, 3 different jams, nutella, honey, 3 cereals, natural yoghurt, cheese, salami, salad all fresh. Hot food mini sausages, ham, bacon (please remember this is Thailand so they are not English!!), then you also have Thai food which changes each day from fried rice, noodles, banana fritters, eggy bread and mini pancakes. Along with this you have a lady who can make you fresh fried egg, scrambled egg or omelettes. Finally you have fresh fruit available, we had Dragon fruit, pineapple, water melon, papaya.
For lunch they have a buy one get one free on certain items and then a reasonable evening menu.
The first night of our stay we walked to Fisherman's village which is only a ten minute walk down the beach. Here there are many places to eat ranging from simple Thai to expensive seafood restaurants.
It is only ten km to the airport but you cannot hear the planes which frequently fly into Samui during the day and evening.
We also hired a car from the travel agents next door, very reasonable price of 1000 baht a day for a Toyota Vios. This enabled us to tour round the island by ourselves, I live on Koh Phanghan the neighbouring island and this was a mini holiday for me, and first time on Samui for my mother.
Finally the staff are wonderful here, helpful but not in your face. The only slight issues was the air con was slightly noisy but to be fair I did not complain to the staff about this as it was so minor and I am sure if I had said something they would have moved us to another room.
One last thing to mention, I do not have children but the families we spoke to said they come back time after time as the staff are son good with there kids.
All in all I would highly recommended to any of my friends or family and will be staying here again.
Apologies for the long review but I think after reading previous reviews I felt it worthwhile to be very descriptive!!!

Room Tip: All rooms run down from the reception to the pool, I wanted to be closer to the pool, in high season...

June 25, 2014. Thank you very much. It is my pleasure hearing from you that you had enjoyed your stay at Anantara Lawana at Chaweng beach. This is another beach resort that my family also owns. We also own The Akyra and the Tradewinds byLawana, both at Chaweng beach. Lawana Resort is a smaller beach resort on Boput beach where we treat families as our trademark.

We stayed here one night and enjoyed our room, the pool and the gardens. There is a Family Mart about 1 minute walk away and we were provided with 2 complimentary bottles of water at reception with another 2 bottles in the fridge.

Bed and room was great, the toiletries were a nice touch. There was a safety box in the room as well.

The beach is gritty as other reviews gave mentioned and we didn't go in the sea (however others were swimming at the beach).

I got a pedicure for 150bt which was good and the massage rates were reasonable.

It is near to fishermans village - only 10 minute walk. A taxi will try charge you 200bt, but it's very easy to walk. There are plenty of pharmacy, laundry and restaurant places on the main road.

We didn't order from the restaurant as we found the to prices expensive (150 for a small Chang, when next door restaurant selling for 70 and you can buy from Family Mart for 50).

Would stay again :)

You have said it all of what we could offer. The fisherman village is so easy to walk from the beach straight for 300 meters. The taxi is absolutely not necessary.
