I stayed here 1 night... OMG, this is the perfect hotel to stay if you love Chaweng Beach & Nightlife. They got beachfront. Near to ARK Bar, near to the beach, to the clubbing street. I love it.!! They also got nice swimming pool... But for wifi, you need to buy a voucher from the counter...

This place was actually recommended by a biker friend. Unfortunately, we found this hotel unfit for human habitation. On arrival, we saw the huts similar to little Disney cartoon mushroom homes! Inside however, they were small, old, insecure and in need of repairs. There was no safe in the room and the door seems to have been pried many times. The deadbolt did not work. There was no WiFi. The swimming pool which was really a large water tank in blue tile was unfit to swim in. The was no filtration. The coup de grace was the sewer system and drains. The stench was unbearable. There was a collection of waste water right next to the restaurant and the bar. We felt like throwing up during the b'fast. We complained to the management and all they could say was 'we understand and we are sorry'. We tried to cancel our stay and move to another hotel but we were discouraged and provided another facility they own a few hundred meters away.
That hotel was more bearable but again the swimming pool was not managed well. there was no filtration. I got very sick swimming there. Al's Hut should be shut down. This second place can do with some repair but needs the pool services everyday and has to have filtration so the water is kept safe. Would I recommend, heck No.

Room tip: My ratings are an average to both facilities. Al's Hut should be shut down and the owners charged. A great location but an awful experience.

It was ok. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom had a weird smell. It was cheap and you could tell. It just needs a bit of TLC. The pool and beach area are fab and thats what was OK about it. The surrounding area is not as nice as Lamai but depends what you are in to. Its next to ARK bar which is fab.
Be warned - its very loud until about 2AM so if you wanted somewhere quiet dont go for this place.

Booked a standard banglow and got upgraded to the big cottage ... WOW factor :) !!! The resort is a nice and clean place . The popular pubs including Green Mango are on the entry side of the resort... lot of good food and party options almost at your door step . on the other side the resort is connected to the beach and has a small but quite nice infinity (almost) swimming pool . Beach side is a fascinating place of course . The hotel facilities are good for the price .

The buffet breakfast was not that impressive ... limited spread and repeated options if your staying longer .

Room tip: The Pool side bigger cottages are really nice

The location is great - private beach access and steps away to the main street where all the entertainment is at. The downside: we checked our pillows they were stained yellow/orange really gross! we had to use our airplane pillows. now that I've stayed in other hotels in Thailand I'm sure there are cleaner places to stay in Koh Samui. Or maybe there are better room options at Al's hut than the basic bungalow and bring your open pillow.
