“Wonderful, idyllic, loved it!”

Great location. Bophut is fab and hotel is close to Fishermans village. Ignore comments about sand. It's slightly coarse but not unpleasant (just hot!). Service at hotel was excellent. Lovely grounds, great breakfast and Russian concierge lady deserve special mentions. No complaints about hotel at all (sunbeds, infinity pools, day beds, jeez, what more could you want!). Restaurant is quiet but food is good and not too pricy - just village is livlier in the evening. Didn't have any bad meals in the village - go where you fancy - all good! Def recommend family massage (tbats its name, its not dodgy!) on the beach - just up from hotel (other direction from village).

We stayed at the resort for our honeymoon for 12 nights during May where we were given a ground floor deluxe room. The room was nicely decorated with all the facilities you would expect such as a minibar, safe and beach towels. Free fruit every 2-3 days and two bottles of water every day which was a nice touch. The resort has fantastic gardens, one medium size pool, one small pool next to the beach and a couple of paddling pools. Although a reasonable size I would of preferred the main pool to be slightly bigger. Staff were always friendly and helpful when we needed to organise an excursion or book a restaurant. Free internet in room or at a couple of PCs next to the gym with a token from reception. The resort was fairly quiet when we were there so no problems finding a seat next to the pool. Breakfast had an OK spread and the kitchen was willing to cook sausages, bacon etc. for breakfast. Convenience store across the road which was really handy for supplies.

What really makes the resort stand out is the location. It is a 10min walk to the fisherman's village where you can find plenty of very good bars and restaurants. This was a big bonus as the resort itself was overpriced (even for a hotel). The beach next to the resort was quiet but pleasant with plenty of thai massage beach huts to choose from 5mins walk up the beach from the resort for around 200baht per hour. We did however find the water to be more cloudy compared to other beaches around the island.

Overall no regrets choosing the Bandara to spend our honeymoon. It we go back to Koh Samui in the future we would choose the same area on the island but try a different resort.

This was our first time in Thailand and first time on a long haul flight. After travelling on 3 planes and for what felt like forever we finally arrived at bandara.First impressions were good, very welcoming and helpful in showing us to our pool villa. The villa was lovely as they had written in leaves and petals "Happy Honeymoon" on our bed which was a nice touch. We also had champayne on ice and a large basket of fresh fruit. The villa was a brilliant size for just the two of us and very clean with fresh towels brought daily and even a beach bag with towels to use which was fab. There is also a safe in the room free of charge which everywhere else we have been you get charged for using. The breakfast is excellent wide choice of all different foods even my over fussy husband loved it!Weather was fab as im a big sun worshipper and was worried about it raining etc after reading about the recent floods they had,but apart from a storm one night and only two out of the ten days we were there it rained. We got around the island everyday by motorbike which at first i was wary of hiring but we loved it and the drivers are very wary of you and even pomp there horn as they are passing you to warn you not to swerve out.Quick pit-stops all over for gasoline which lasts ages for only 40baht.We booked a trip through the shop across the road, good price and a totally amazing day.You start off elephant treking, loved it!Then a swim in a lagoon lovely waterfall there. They then take you to see another waterfall which was beautiful, then off to feed the baby tigers once in a lifetime to hold tigers and feed them milk. You then are taken to watch a bird show and a tiger show that we wasnt overly impressed with but not to bad.We then stopped off for lunch. It was gorgeous thai food just mouthwatering, lunch was included in the price.Next stop was to see the dead monk,we was very sceptical but you have to see it to believe it,he has been dead since the 70's and unbelievably hasnt decomposed????Strange. We then went to watch the monkeys being sent up trees to collect coconuts and had pictures holding them. Then off to see the grandfather and grandmother rocks again totally bizzarre that rocks looked so much like a man and womans private parts. The trip is really worth every penny. We spent time shopping in Cheweng which isnt far to get to on the mo-ped or on the bus its really busy and great at night with loads of bars and restaurants to choose from.We eat at the little stalls at the sides of the roads you look at them and think o no i am not eating from them but you must try it they are the best and only cost 50baht.There is far too much good things to say about it,i could write a book.Bandara is a brilliant place to stay the grounds are beautifully kept and the staff so friendly.Iwould highly recommend it.We are a couple in our late 20's and throughly enjoyed it!! A*

Room Tip: Book a pool villa! You will not be disappointed!

Stayed here for 10 nights in a Deluxe room on 2nd floor overlooking pool. Everything about the room was lovely, large and well equiped with comfortable bed, powerful shower, large balcony and a daily supply of clean towels (for room and beach) and clean bedlinen if required. Housekeeping was good, our room was well cleaned and the toffee provided with the turn down service was delicious! The two free bottles of water per day were a good touch.
Pools and grounds are super here - plenty of loungers and shady spots if required around the pool. The gardens are kept beautiful and the stunning flowers often made it into our room which was another lovely touch.
Staff were very friendly and efficient with any requests we had. We borrowed a DVD one evening and requested cutlery for our complimentary fruit one day and the staff who dealt with us were great.
The beach sand is quite coarse but it was too hot to stand on any way so that didn't realler bother us. Sea was a bit murky but warm as a bath - we preferred the pool at any rate and hardly used the beach.
We didn't use the spa - massages were so much cheaper on the beach.
Food and drink is expensive in the hotel and very mediocre. Breakfast was excellent - huge choice of hot and cold breakfast, fruits and salads, breads pastries etc. Only disappointment was lack of fresh juice but we never went hungry at breakfast, We ate evening meal in the hotel restaurant only once and the meal was satisfactory - but nothing special. We only purchased drinks during happy hour and used the beach hawkers for lunch - amazing thai salad and spring rolls.
The location was perfect for us. Short walk to Fisherman's village everything we needed along the road outside the hotel. If the world wasn't such a big place we'd definitely return.

We stayed here for 9 days in May and absolutely loved the place. We were a group and had 2 pool villas and a deluxe room as part of our accommodation so saw both types.

Pool villas are absolutely brilliant and probably the best rooms we have had (this was our 8th visit to Thailand) as the pool is just the right size, is totally private and the rooms are a great size with fridges, indoor and outdoor showers and a great outdoor bathtub (which we didn't use).

The deluxe rooms are also a great size with nice bathrooms but as others have said, if you are on the ground floor, the footpath is right next to your patio. It wasn't an issue for us but you might want to request an upper floor room.

The location is perfect - walking distance to Fisherman's Village with all its restaurants and bars (and a great market on a Friday night - check it out - it is called Fisherman's Village Walking Street), so you have everything you need within a 10 minute walk along the beach.

The hotel witnesses spectacular sunsets every night also which is even better if you head into town and sit in one of the beachfront bars and watch the sun go down - very tranquil and well worth it.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely and really well kept, breakfast is a good buffet selection in a good size room so we never had to wait for a table for example.

Beach is lovely but as others have said, the beds are quite close together and you do get hassled by the beach hawkers but to be honest, we found them all to be so friendly, it wasn't a problem for us. There are vendors on the beach selling fruit, satays, sweetcorn and salads for 70 baht which is a perfect lunch. We didn't use the beach too much as it was so hot and there are not that many parasols available.

Overall, we absolutely loved the hotel - great staff (especially room service who kept us plied with buckets of ice for our drinks!), and would thoroughly recommend it, especially if you can get a good price on the villa rooms as we did.

The only caveat is that the pools are SO HOT!!! They do not chill any of the pools so when it was 38 degrees as it was when we were there, to step into the pools gives no relief as the water is warmer than a bath!! There is no cover for any of the pools and they are situated in full sun all day every day, so you can imagine how hot the water gets!

Even the kids' pool has no shade and gets even warmer as the water is more shallow - crazy! It didn't really matter to us as we spent time in our villa pools (where the water is cooler!), but it was a shame as hardly anyone was using the pool when we were there presumably as they also felt the same!

Also there is no drinks service around the pool. There is a pool bar at the beach where you can go and order drinks which they then bring you, but no-one going round taking orders from the sun loungers. Perhaps that seems like a big ask but all the other hotels we have stayed at in Thailand offer this service so maybe we have been spoiled?!

Having said all that, it shouldn't put you off. It was particularly hot when we were there so maybe the pools are normally cooler but I would suggest the hotel looks into at least adding some trees / plants / shade somehow, especially for the large, main pool.

We loved Fisherman's Village which is much more chilled and relaxed than other resorts on Samui, and I would thoroughly recommend the Bandara.

PS It also offers free wi-fi around the hotel including all the grounds.

We stayed in Bandara Resort for two weeks, in a pool villa which was fab. Had all expected amenities of a 4 star hotel. Service / staff are all extremely friendly & very efficient.

We initially spent a few days at the main pool side, then the remaining at the beach, which we thought, due to the slight breeze was easier to cope with!

As others have said, it was easy to always get sun lounges including parasol even though we didn't head down to the beach until late morning (11amish). The cocktails from the beach bar are good!

We had room service a few times simply due to the Fishermans village restaurants closing earlyish at 10.30pm, which due to our UK time difference we initially found too early to eat. Room Service was prompt & good service, although limited variety.

We ate mostly in the Fishermans village choosing a different restaurant each night, which was fab. Although with having drinks in most of the bars on the way. The happy Elephant & Smile were favourites to eat, along with the Karma Sutra for cocktails. The Pier was nice, but expensive on comparison.

Sunbathing on the beach at the resort is for someone with patience as the beach sellers are persistent, yet polite. In sweltering heat there is only so many times you can say 'no' politely to not purchasing a duvet cover / fake t-shirts / watches and so on.
Yet the major plus are the locals who cook food on the beach for you for lunch - a complete must!

We met a beach dog on the resort, which we are in the process of adopting. He is due to be picked up on Tuesday at the latest & flown out to the UK.

We loved our time there & would certainly go back at some point after paying for the dog!!

Stayed in a garden Villa at the Bandara Spa Resort as part of our Honeymoon Package booked with Kuoni. ( the Kuoni Rep for this Resort never got back to us with answers to our questions ).
Villa is beautiful nice and its very private with its own sun area , table and chairs and plunge pool however the day we arrived and checked in, they must have taken 2 mins to clean our room. The mugs were dirty , bathroom floor wasnt clean and the curtains had stain marks/blood/squashed mosquitos . Called Reception and this was hard work communicating . ( no one ever came ) . Waited until we went for dinner to ask reception to send someone.
Please be aware if you decide to take a Villa , you need to expect cochroches pass through under your door, bugs , mosquitos in your room and in your bath tub outside. I would run the bath and wash them all away before I sat in it but if you dont like bugs for your own sake DONT STAY IN A VILLA. I also got bitten by mosquitos every night however my husband only got biten once .
Asked for an ironing board and an Iron and they brought me a board with holes in and an Iron that was just useless !
The Gardens are lovely and well kept. The main pool is also nice clean and well kept . we didnt use the pool by the beach. Plently of sunbeds but you get the ones who put their towels out early in the morning and disapear for hours ! ( find that unfair )
Hotel food was nice however expensive and seriously over priced ! Try the chocolate cononut brownie for a treat was LOVELY ! ( again , over priced )
The restaurant by the beach offers burgers and pizzas. There is a little mart across the road which is good , a pharmacy and more restaurants. If you walk out of the hotel and turn right there is a restaurant called the Garden . about 3mins walk and we were impressed with the food and price . They have everything on the menu from english food chinese thai and american. I personally found places to be so unhygienic so we were very careful where we ate.
Do visit Chaweng its worth going at night to see whats going on, much busier and nightlife there is crazy. We took taxis first 2 days until we realised that we were getting ripped off so we got the 'songtaw' downtown or to Tesco for 50baht before 6pm one way or 100bnaht after 6pm one way person. Just hold on tight and you will be fine. Its very safe just tell the driver where you want to go , agree a price first and jump on! he will then tell you when you arrive . There is a big tesco Lotus not far from hotel if you want to buy souvenirs here ( found things here to be the cheapest in koh samui ) . Chaweng market is good but they all sell the same things every 2/3 shops and they dont bargain much .
There is a Subway , Mc donalds , Pizza Hut > Mexican all in Chaweng . Try Kresens Icecream Parlour its yum !!
We booked our excursions via the Hotel . Any leaflets you see just ask reception to book them for you . We went to the nature reserve ( 40 little islands) i cannot remember what it was called but its an all day trip and it was beautiful. You will be amazed at the difference in water . The beaches are beautiful and water is crystal clear. I would recommend this to all as a must do trip . Also when you book please confirm the price includes your entrance fee as they can try being cheeky and ask for it ontop of what you paid. ( get in in wrtiting on your receipt)
Irina ( russian lady) was all smiles all the time and she was helpful and we always saw her helping others on the hotel grounds.
If you go with the mindset that this hotel is 3 star you will be fine !
