Stating from the first experience.
Private transfer that we booked was waiting at the airport on time, great start to the holiday.

Reception staff were quick checking us in, however a welcome drink and cold towels was only provided for certain guests, after travelling for over 12 hours with children we didn't qualify.

We booked a Villa prior to arriving, to find out that if we had booked a normal room we could have paid for an upgrade when we arrived thus cutting costs, a must when travelling as a family.

Other families were taking advantage with the upgrades making the villa pool very popular with screaming young children, so beware honeymooners! I is also worth noting that the pool and rooms are not as big as they look in the hotel pictures.

We ate in the hotel on the first night and had a drink, this was a very costly event. We did find Fisherman's village from there on and had several excellent meals, the restaurant Smile was our favourite offering fantastic food and drink at a very reasonable price.

Whilst passing through reception what I did notice was the following,( I read many reviews before we booked this hotel to see what others thought, what I did like was the fact that reception paid great details to their guests, remembering some even by name). Well all I can say is this must have been during the busy season when the staff were on form, for when we went they could not be bothered with a smile let alone a good morning. They simply couldn't be bothered, there was one European lady who made a great effort with guests but she was alone.

The pool by the hotel is lovely with great cabana type shelters and various sun beds, however! you must get up very early to take them as when you go for breakfast they are all reserved with towels even though you don't see the guest for over an hour after you bake in the sun waiting for a bed. I did bring this to the European ladies attention on one occasion and she did get some towels removed.

Now, breakfast. For this I can not praise the breakfast team of chefs and waiters/waitresses enough. Everything was fantastic, beautiful smiles excellent food and quick clear away service. The staff here could really teach others in the hotel a thing or two about service and welcome. Fantastic.

The pizza at the pool was really delicious and a good price, however the let down was the plate was still there the following day when we returned to the pool so hygiene by the pool was not as it should be.

To end this report, we waited for our pricy private transfer back to the airport only to be joined by a member of the management team who decided he wanted to hitch a life with us. The hotel never asked did we mind sharing our TB1000 a way ride and neither did the gentleman it was just assumed that we would!! This really upset us because if you book private this is what you expect to receive. If the hotel or even the gentleman would have at least acknowledged us we really wouldn't have had a problem, we were just expected to accept it. When we came back I wrote to the hotel to ask why, apparently the man who hitched a ride was a member of the management going to another destination after we were dropped off, the hotel apologised and said that when we return they would give us a free transfer. However I said I doubt if we would and would like a refund for that sector and they failed to respond ( this was over three days ago).

All in all an ok hotel who's saving grace is the breakfast team. Probably would not return as so many others to try in the area and they did not cut it enough to secure our return business.

Dear Valued Guests,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Bandara Resort & Spa Samui,

I apology that our services did not meet your expectation,
The welcome drink and fresh towels are part of our standards and given to all our guests no exceptions so I would like to sincerely apologize that you did not receive it and ensure you that you deserve it as much as other guests.
About the booking misunderstanding, our website shows the different room types with the same names as we use on site and I am sorry to hear that you expected a Villa and booked a Deluxe Room.
In our peak period, we try to keep the guests from reserving sunbed when they are actually not around, we take note of this comment and will put more effort on avoiding this situation to happen again.
Finally, I remember the problem of your airport transfer and the lack of communication in adding one of our management staff in the vehicle and it will not happen again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we take good note of all your comments,
We hope that these will not keep you from staying with us again,

Best regards,
Bandara Management Team

Lovely hotel, we upgraded to a pool villa on arrival, all rooms looked good but you cannot beat having your own, secluded garden and pool! Hotel is in a great location, quietish in the immediate surrounding but only 5 minute walk and you are in the Fisherman's village, or a short song Tao or taxi ride away from Chaweng. Would love to go back one day!

We spent 22 nights at this resort and were extremely happy with it. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The pools and grounds are lovely. The breakfast buffet has everything you could ever want. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great location for walking down to Fisherman's Village, don't miss its Friday night market. Lots of restaurant and bar choices in Fisherman's too. Special mention to the crossing guards who really help you get out in the traffic if driving or crossing the street if walking, you guys do an awesome job. I would definitely stay at The Bandara again if on Samui.

The hotel is located in Bophut, a great location for those looking for a quiet vacation in Samui, far-away from the noisy bars and clubs.

The hotel has 2 great pools and offers a very good breakfast. Out superior room was OK and is what you can expect from a 4 stars hotel. The staff was very friendly.

We had a fantastic week at the Bandara, the staff were exceptional from check in to departure, always attentive and friendly, we had a long journey there but could get into our villa on arrival which was very welcome indeed. Breakfast as all reviews had indicated was fantastic, so much choice, no need for lunch. We took a tut tut to Chewang for 2 nights 100 bht each way, lots of restaurants to choose from and shopping, night market on a Monday, Tuesday and Saturday was fab with 3 excellent singers and cocktails for 70 bht, superb night. Also went to Chong mon beach which was fabulous, great little beach bars on the waters edge, could have stayed there all day.

We ate in Fishermans village for the rest of the nights, Nirvana was lovely, Shades and twice in Starfish where the steak was excellent. Market night on Friday was busy and cocktails especially good for 70bht.

Cleanliness was superb, beach was always clean and purchased 3 lovely bikinis from the sellers on the beach.

I would not hesitate on booking this hotel in the future but would go for longer next time as a 12 hour flight for a week was quite a long way.

Richard and Jackie Costin

Room Tip: Villas are superb, very private and the pool is in the shade so very welcome cool water.

Both my wife and I have never stayed in a resort. So I suppose it wouldn't have taken much to impress us however we were very impressed with the Bandara. It started with the Airport Transfers, it was exciting to see someone holding up a card with my name on it and as soon as I acknowledged that I was who he was looking for he took hold of my luggage trolley and said please follow me. He then said wait here and went off and came back with a vehicle, he did all the loading we just hopped in the car and cooled off in the aircon. He handed us ice cold water from an eksy.
We arrived at the hotel with great anticipation and we were not let down. It was wonderful. The staff loved our daughter and couldn't be more friendlier. We were given a cold towel to freshen up and a refreshing drink. We were asked to sit down in comfy chairs as the arrange all our details and forms etc. once all that was done we were taken to our room and shown the ropes.
The room was fantastic, I personally don't see the need for flashy state of the art rooms if you are on holiday because I shouldn't think you'd be doing anything but sleeping there (unless its a romantic holiday in which case go all out lol)
The pools were fantastic and the photos on their website pretty much sum it up however do not do it justice at the same time.
All in all amazing.
The only negative thing I have to say is that its not very pram or wheel chair friendly.

Room Tip: We found the higher floors to have more of a scenic feel to them, and more private, given that they...
