Baan Bophut Beach Hotel

We had originally booked into another hotel in Fishermans Village but it was filthy and we decided to move. Baan Bophut was full for our first 2 nights but fortunately we were able to spend 5 nights of our 7 in the hotel, and we can't thank John enough for being so helpful, even down to allowing us to use the hotel facilities the day before our room was ready.
Our room was the loft room and was huge, and sea facing and the hotel itself was lovely, very relaxing and we enjoyed our time there so much we would not hesitate to return, in fact I'm sure we will.
The location is perfect, on by far the best part of the beach as it is totally peaceful and if it is relaxation you are looking for you will find it here.
We had a fantastic week, thanks to staff at Baan Bophut.

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing so no problem

I travelled with 2 friends and we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. The rooms were huge, very clean and decorated nicely. The hotel is situated right in the village and facing the sea. Whilst the water at the beach is not the best in Samui, it's still lovely to look at from your balcony, or from the swimming pool which is sparking clean and was a lovely cooling temperature. Breakfast and other food ordered from the kitchen was also very nice.

Having said the above, it really was the fantastic staff that made this hotel stand out as a top choice. They were so friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable. My friend arrived with an injury from a previous hotel and management showed more concern and offered more help than the hotel where the accident took place. One afternoon when there were no other guests around, they allowed us to hook our iPhone up to their stereo system so we could enjoy our music whilst sipping on some nice cocktails and enjoyed a swim and chat.

The Friday night street market is definitely a highlight. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning one day in the future.

My wife and i where recommended this hotel by friends who have been there on more than one occasion.
where to start !! well apart from the wonderful views out to the ocean and quiet white sandy beach the rooms mainly look to the fishing bay.
The rooms are a good size with a/c , tea and coffee facilities and a stocked fridge, which if you use the contents you are not robbed by the price. A TV and DVD player, concealed in a cabinet with fold back doors.
A large wet room, ample hot water.
The double bed was wonderfully comfortable, more so than The Shangrila in Bangkok
.( £ 200 p/night )
Fresh linen and a constant supply of beach towels
We were slightly disappointed to see the beach bar had gone but found out that a new one was due on site imminently,( cant wait to go back and enjoy a sunset GnT ) as the old one was past its sell by date.
The food was as good as if not better than we found anywhere on the restaurant strip beach road , and very good value.
The team of staff where always accommodating, welcoming and friendly.
Dont go expecting bells n whistles, this place is all about relaxation, and it delivers
I could ramble on but in short it was our favourite break in 15 years.
Thanks

Fisherman's Village in Bophut is my favourite place to stay in Koh Samui. It is a great place to walk around with great restaurants and bars. I particularly love Baan Bophut as it is a little bit of luxury, right on the beachfront with sunset views. I have stayed there twice in 2012 once with a friend and once with a partner which is a romantic place to stay for a couple. The reception and cleaning staff are wonderful. The breakfast is very nice but not a lot going on at the small restaurant. It is a place where you can be left alone if you want it. I highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: I prefer the ground floor rooms as you have a balcony that leads straight to the gardens and the bea...

Baan Bophut is located at Fisherman Village, which is about 20 minutes from the airport facing Koh Phan Ngan on the north of Samui. This hotel was chosen because of good review of its proximity to the beach and of its bed.

The village itself is small and filled with shops mostly catering for tourists, with a few expat run boutique and bars near the hotel. There is a weekly night market on the main drag every Friday evening, offering lots of street foods and THB60 Mojitos, as well as some local delicacies such as durian and fresh seafood. Fisherman Village is also very laid back comparing to resorts dominated Chaweng.

The hotel is also small, with 12 rooms in total with most facing the water. The ground floor rooms have large verandahs, the first floor rooms have large balconies and the second floor rooms have small balconies - not possible to place chairs on.

The view from the balcony was great and I can also hear the sound of the wave washing against the beach, it was also a joy to watch local stray dogs playing with one another on the beach.

The room is very basic with a king size bed, 2 bedside tables, towels hanging rack, tv cabinet with a tv, mini fridge and in-room safe, a dressing table, stool, small table with a small kettle and tea/coffee making facilities, a long table and a stool which doubles as storage; 2 large deck chairs and a small table on the balcony; a large wardrobe with clothes hanger by the entrance. There is also free WiFi.

The stool/storage in the room is broken - making it dangerous to sit on, the hotel was informed of this but it was not taken away and replaced. The hot water shower is also not very reliable.

On a positive note, the hotel uses fitted sheets for the king bed, not only the sheets actually fit the bed, it also covered all corners/sides. It is my pet peeve that a lot of hotels like to use sheets that are smaller than the mattress, leaving certain corner or side not properly tugged in. Well it didn't happen here, hurray!

The hotel's pool is small but perfect for a cool dip, the sea is about 20 feet away but I must admit the sand is not as fine as those on Chaweng beach. Breakfast is served at the dining area, which was mostly closed during my stay due to low season. The crossant served at breakfast was very good! Reception wasn't always manned but it was easy to locate the staff when you needed them - always in the kitchen!

Ride to Chaweng cost THB300 with the local taxi mafia (who refused to use the meter), THB100 if you manage to get a shared songthaew, these rides cost more after sunset. There are enough restaurants in the village to try something new for my one week stay and a 7-Eleven outside of the village keeps my grocery cost down (cheaper to buy bottled water from there than the shops at the village).

A budget stay it is but this hotel is not for those who are used to being pampered.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms have great balconies!

As well travelled guests having been to Thailand and Samui many times the Baan Bhoput ticks all the boxes for a comfortable nights sleep, a daily relax and a perfect base to savour the dining and general activity opportunities in Fishermans village and around Samui.

With a just perfect and "to die for" view from all rooms and one that is worth the more than reasonable room rate alone, we are sure the Baan Bhoput does not profess to compete with the Four Seasons and Shangri La's of this world, so just don't expect to compare it - it is an unfussy and simple hotel in a 5 star location with all amenities and every possible dining option in the village a few short strides away and fortunately perfect for those who don't prefer nightclubs, girly bars and all that brings; but Chaweng is a short ride away for those who do!

The Baan Bhoput offers great value for money, is very comfortable and is just the ticket for the unpretentious traveller to Northern Samui and hey if the television view from bed isn't perfect then stay at home to watch it, get a good book, look at the natural views, or even change your partner!

We've been before and certainly won't hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms for beach access
