“Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2009

We have just come home from this wonderful piece of paradise. It was all that it's website said and more. Great rooms, helpful staff. We only walked a couple of minutes to the Fisherman's village where there were great restaurants and inexpensive shopping. We have never been to a hotel where we could relax so easily. We will definitely be going back!

I recently spent 3 nights at Baan Bophut and highly recommend it. I have stayed at several different areas and different accommodations on Koh Samui and found Baan Bophut's facilities, service, location and value to be superior.

The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, quiet, and comfortable and our view of the ocean and Ko Phangan was stunning. From our room it was only about 20 meters to the sea and all of 5 meters to the small, delightful swimming pool. The hotel breakfast and fruit shakes were excellent.

Lucy and her staff were always friendly and helpful and created a friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed chatting with the handful of other guests and with guests from several neighboring hotels who chose to spend their time at Baan Bophut because they told us the food and facilities and atmosphere were better than at their own hotels (surprisingly these other hotels are ranked higher, and almost as high on this Trip Advisor survey).

Baan Bophut's location was a good base for our boat trip to Koh Tao, our motorcycle tour of island, and especially for enjoying the shops and cafes of Fisherman Village. The Fisherman Village restaurants (Starfish & Coffee, Shades, The Shack, etc.) were excellent and only a five minute walk. We found strolling along Fisherman Village's main street at night to be very pleasant and charming and the restaurants far, far superior to others on the island.

The only real downside is the Bophut beach itself. The beach immediately in front of the hotel is rocky and difficult to enter relative to the soft sand in other parts of Samui. If your priority is swimming in the sea (and walking barefoot in the sand) you may be better to find accommodations on Chaweng Beach. Otherwise this is a great choice.

I booked this hotel after reading all the reviews including the one about how you can't swim here and I would agree, the sand here isn't the softest and you cant really swim here but I still think that the area is the nicest to and the hotel was quite good, room was nice and clean and had one with a seaview which included quite a good size balcony which was nice and unexpected. There is limited option for the inclusive breakfast, it is just cereal and a crossaint, if you want toast or anything have to pay for it. Overall not too bad for the money and good location.

Oh and very comfy big king size beds.

We stopped off en route to koh phangan. The hotel and staff are great. Very clean rooms with smart decor. Outside, the gardens and pool are also well maintained and you can walk straight out onto the beach.

Almost wish we stayed a few more nights...

Baan means home and that is what Baan Bophut is.
We were lucky enough to be there when the Holt family were all together and it was like being at a wonderful family party.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable - everything that has been said about the beds is true. Spent 3 weeks here and never tired of the wonderful view and the relaxing atmosphere.
All the staff are kind, caring and incredibly friendly - from Tik the barman, Mia on reception, Mai and John in the restaurant through to the angels who flit into your room whilst you are at breakfast and restore order.

Me and my husband spent 3 months in thailand travelling around different parts. We went to Koh Samui in Feb the first time, and a friend of ours booked Baan Bophut,we got an excellent price, and were expecting something fairly basic for the price, but wen we got there and checked in we couldn believe our luck!!it was absolutly fantastic. The hotel is right on the beach!we were only a couple of meters from the sea,and it had a nice cool clean swimming pool also.we had an option of laying our towels on the grass right next to the pool,or lying on the sun loungers they provided on the beach,so we done both.the views are amazing, and u can see straight over to the other island Koh Pha Ngan ,which was beautiful.the food was devine in the hotel restaurant,we had the satay skewers nearly everday as a snack, and they do great fruit shakes too.I cant say enough about the staff, they were extreamly helpful with everything, and always greeted us everytime they saw us,they were so friendly.Lucy the owner is just fantastic,i ended up spending ages everyday just chatting with her,she had an answer for every question i asked, down from mosquito bites to websites selling oasis tickets!!!!and her friend even came to my room and dried my hair for a great price!!!the rooms were cleaned spotlesly everyday and not too early in the morn, and because its not a big hotel, the cleaners knew our routine and never disturbed us.we were supplied with 2big bottles of drinking water everyday, and tea and coffee facilitys.we had a big t.v in our room with loads of channels, and downstairs they have a dvd and book library, which u can use free of charge, and also they have free wireless internet which we found great. The hotel is at the end of a great street full if fabulous places to eat and drink, with ATM'S and 7-11 shop around the corner.tescos and BIg C are about 5-6 mins on a scooter away if u need anything.Go to Angelas in Menam, about 15mins on a scooter, she does fabulous western breakfasts and the best desserts in Thailand, chocolat cheescake was my favourite, and she also does typical american breakfasts with big pancakes and bacon and maple syrup.Baan Bophut do excellent breakfasts also, and u get a menu which u can tick the boxes of what u want, and how u like ur eggs, poached boiled fried etc..great coffee!also go to The Shack, where they do the best steak and garlic mashed potatoes, great lamb also, this place is a bit dearer than the rest but soo worth it.and theres a great 99baht BBQ wen u turn left at the traffic lights, its all u can eat for 99baht,and u cook food urself, lots of choice with fish and meat and veg,and then typical thai desserts and ice cream and fruit, absolute great value.its alwys packed wicj=h is agreat sign. we loved Bann Bophut somuch we returned for a second week in early april!!and we will def return again, excellent value for money, overall 11 out of 10!!!!

We stayed at the Baan Bophut for 8 days and had an excellent time. The staff were very helpful, polite and aranged trips during our stay. The hotel is small and very peaceful, which is an ideal escape from the UK! Our room had an amazing view of the beach, which was perfect for evenings spent lounging on the balcony. Lots of bars and restaurants are within a few minutes walk from the hotel, making this an ideal location for lots of relaxation in a superb setting that you could pay a lot more for! I wish I was still there!
