“very nice, perhaps a teeny bit soul-less”
Reviewed 2 July 2010

This is a good hotel. It's modern, clean, well priced, has a nice pool, good location on the beach and nice decor.
Only slight drawback - compared to some of the other gorgeous places in Bophut it was a tiny bit 'international' for us - we might have wanted a bit less sleek modernity and a bit more of a Thai feel. But that's a matter of taste. It's a good hotel and I'd recommend it.

Lovely, quiet hotel with very friendly staff. Our room was large enough with a fantastic bed, wetroom style bathroom, wireless internet (free) and a balcony literally yards from the beach (all rooms are sea facing). The in room fridge came in handy, and at Thai prices the beer / water / snacks in it didn't break the bank.

The beach here is pleasant with calm water and wonderful views of Ko Phangan.

The street side of the hotel (rear) backs onto the main drag through the village, and has relatively little traffic. We weren't bothered by traffic noise at any time. There are dozens of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes walk, with plenty of choice from Aussie steaks to traditional Thai dishes.

All in all we were very happy we chose the Baan Bophut, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

When you arrive at this hotel you think you are in a routard family hotel. But as soon as you are on the front beach it's really a luxurious place wher you can relax and enjoy a drink looking at the see and the small swimming pool. The hotel is very quiet and friendly staff. For the last day they gave us a room until night because our fly was late, they are able to pick you up or drop you at the airport. Anything you need, they can provide. The room are very well located on the beach. You will stay here with an unforgatable souvenir.

We were an extended family joining from Sydney and London and had originally been scheduled to stay a few doors away, but our early arrivals weren't happy with cleanliness so moved us down to Baan Bophut. Because of late booking, we were shuffled among several rooms, finally settling into the relatively small Room 1, opening directly onto the gulfside lawn...a convenience we learned to appreciate.

It's a smaller three-story lodge with ten rooms or so, a very pleasant pool and small bar area, with direct beachfront daybeds and umbrellas. The staff could not have been more delightful and helpful, serving a tasty breakfast (part of our room charge) of fruit and a first class croissant. The best thing about Baan Bophut is its location on the quiet end of the Fishermans Village strip, a fun promenade in the evening, with plenty of decent shopping and food and drink choices. My only caveat is that the shower has no enclosure, so water pours over much of the bathroom (tho drains relatively quickly). Altogether, Baan Bophut is a mid-range choice and, so as long as you understand and expect that, you should have a very satisfying stay.

Lastly, I must own up that we were there with two children (10 and 8) and could very well have been the people who chased away the previous reviewer...sorry.

The Baan Bophut is a lovely hotel directly on the beach and overlooking Koh Phangan. This was the best part of our stay here as the views where AMAZING! Every morning you would wake up and look out side and think I wish I had a view like this all of the time! The area where the hotel is situated is very relaxing and so peaceful. The food here is also good especially the watermellon shakes. I LOVE these shakes as they are soo freshing and taste divine! You must try them if you stay here.

The rooms are lovely and very spacious and its true they do have the best beds in Thailand. You definately get a good nights sleep here.

Our only gripe would be the beach as the sand is very coarse and the water is not that appealing as its quite rocky.

Bophut is a lovely cosompolitan resort but costly for Thailand.

We enjoyed our stay in Bophut and would definately stay here again.

The caveat to this review is that the manager was on holidays, but we were still paying guests.

We had a positive start with the pick-up from the airport. We were shown to our room, and from there things did not work out very well. We got absolutely no information on meals, local information etc. and there was nothing in the room. After the long flight we wanted to sleep for a few hours, but we could not due to a screaming kid using the pool (this is in a kids free resort). Also late at night, we could easily hear people on other balconies, who were trying not to be noisy. In addition, WIFI was not working and we did not have hot water.

Positives are that it is a comfortable bed, the view from the balcony is nice and BoPhut is a lovely town. The pool is fine and there are sufficient seats. The breakfast is sufficient and the waiter is very pleasant.

Disappointed, and we decided to move on after 2 nights. We have never done that before.

First trip to Thailand and saved the best until last!!!!! After alot of digging last August and booking 3 nights Bangkok (Legacy suites) and 7 nights Chaweng ( Banana Fan Sea) we were looking for total relaxation to finish our trip. Decided on Baan Bophut for last 6 nights based on reviews, what a result. We requested a first floor room and were given room 8 on arrival, the view of the beach/sea and pool was stunning. The room and bathroom were very nice and cleaned every day by our friendly cleaners. All the staff were great although both Moo and Mae deserve special mention. They keep a low profile but are there for your every need. Pool was excellent as were the very comfy beachfront sunbeds. Take out a Kyak and take in the hotel and village from the bay/sea. At times you feel like its your own hotel.
This side of the pier is where to be if you crave peace and quiet. No beach vendors or busy stretches of beach here. However there are many nice big hotels at the other end if you prefer paying two to three times more, wrestling for sunbeds and sitting round crowded pools!!! We had breakfast every day and had lunch 5 out of 6 days. Try the Thai red curry and ask Mae for it Spicy, you will recieve both a very cheeky smile and a very hot mouth!!!!!!
venture out of the front door turn right and within 200yds you are at the hub of the fishermans village along with the pier. The atmosphere is relaxed and bags more low key than Chaweng. Just before the pier is the Kohinoor Indian, slow on service but well worth the wait. Some of the best indian food we have ever eaten, friendly service too. For Italian we tried Villa Bianca, nice setting and food quite good. The Tiny Grill looks a little small and tired but dont let that put you off, the food, service and price was superb. The Billabong is very tidy and good for sport lovers however the staff were the worst we come accross. Looking on you could see them taking the P!$$ out of every customer in sight, bit of a shame because the greeting off the small Aussie guy was great. The Happy Elephant was one of our best meals of our trip sadly we did'nt go in until the last night. Great quality, value, awesome portions with very fast service. For a couple of drinks right on the beach head for the small very basic Fisherman's beach bar. Take in a few beers maybe a beachfont Thai massage followed by a few more drinks, listen to the ocean and the chilled out music while the fireworks and Chinese lanterns go off into the sky.........
Stop looking, just book it. Would i return?????? Wish i was back now
