“Ideal family resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2012

My family could not say one bad thing about this resort. The staff, the facilities and the food were 5 stars.
Such a quiet location but only 15 mins drive to Chaweng Beach.
My family will return again, big thanks to all the staff who made us feel like we were the only ones there.

This place is fantastic, great service and beautiful location. They even gave us a welcome back gift of sparkling wine and red wine. This is our second time at the Melati. Ivan and the team are great. We never have a single issues, everyone is there to impress and make sure you enjoy your stay. Very well looked after. We will be back again for sure. Thanks to the melati team

We stayed at the resort in January - it was our 3rd time to Koh Samui in as many years, but our first time at this resort. We can highly recommend the Melati. The pool and beach area is very nice and secluded, gardens immaculate and the service from resort staff was excellent. The kids club is also very well run and gave us some time alone - special thanks to Rain at the Kids Club - our daughter looked forward to seeing her every day. Only comment was that the TV room in the villa was too small for a full family and there were no basic facilities such as microwave, etc. Mosquitoes also annoying - but it is thailand so hard to avoid.

Room Tip: The is a long walk from the top to bottom of the resort. Better to be closer to the beach, restaura...

Melati Beach is a lovely location and generally the resort is wonderful although food and drink is very expensive but there is an excellent beach bar next door.

The problem is that their website and brochure is misleadfing almost to the point of dishonesty. For example there are no 2 bedroom ensuite villas! The "family pool villa" has one large bedroom and bathroom plus a lounge in which there is very hard sofa bed. The lounge is connected to a mosquito infested outside toilet and shower next to a busy service road separated only by a 5 ft wall - so no privacy in the shower or on the loo! Excellent for 2 adults then but NOT a "family villa" as advertised by any means! Such a shame. Misselling like this ruins holidays and discredits the tourist industry as a whiole.

Room Tip: Don't book a 2 bedroomed "Family Pool Villa". There is no such thing. If you need 2...

Dear 112MandH,

Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us at Melati Beach Resort and Spa.

Your feedback is accurate and important. So important that our website has been adjusted already and we are notifying sales channels worldwide of this issue. Indeed the Family Pool Villa is a 1 bedroom, 2 bath villa with outdoor living area and indoor living room (day bed converts to a Queen Bed) with adjoining bathroom. Thus we do believe the name is accurate that this villa allows for families with small children and a couple simply wanting ample space of more than 200 square meters!

Beyond, for the specific villa you stayed in, I have checked the landscaped and have made arrangements for a more dense planting at the open air bath to ensure a greater feeling of the tropics and privacy.

Thank you again!

I recently stayed at this resort in December 2011 for a number of nights with friends. From the first welcome – I have never felt more at home and comfortable anywhere else in the world. The staff were incredibly friendly; the grounds immaculate; and the rooms everything that you could want. The private beach, pool, 2 restaurants and smiles everywhere you went made our first 2 days so enjoyable.

The location may not be in the hustle and bustle of the area, but it’s not far away, and the service could not be matched anywhere else.

Due to an unforseen event, our stay took an unexpected turn and needed to be extended due to tragic circumstances. The staff at Melati were… there are no words. Michael, Ivan and the management team took it upon themselves to do anything and everything in order to assist us, our friends, and our family in the most dire time. There was nothing that was too much and they went very far above and beyond.

I cannot recommend this hotel more in terms of the beauty of the location, and the support from the staff. I will definitely be returning to visit a beautiful resort, it’s staff and friends that I have made.

I can’t thank the Melati team enough.

Thank God I called before we checked in. We had some difficulties with our confirmations as other hotels and when I called to confirm our arrival, they had no record of our reservation. To their credit, we booked through an online service and prepaid for our stay.

I was very concerned as they said they had no rooms available of the type that we booked. Given this was the most luxurious of properties for our honeymoon travels, the one we looked forward to the most, I was just about heartbroken and thought we would not have a place to stay at all. I was able to verify our booking and they worked with me through email to ensure we would be taken care of up on arrival.

This is were my concerns stopped and paradise began. The entire property was incredibly beautiful and smelled entirely of jasmine. I purchased scented oil to bring home just so I could remember the smell. They not only fixed our reservation problem, they gave us the best room on the property. I could not to it justice to describe it, but I did include photos.

The food was so so and VERY expensive, but if you walk to the beach at Melati and go to the restaurant immediately to the right of the property, there is this great and reasonable priced restaurant that serves authentic homestyle Thai food.

I went here on my honeymoon in January 2012 and it was amazing! I often go on trip advisor to plan my holidays and I always keep in mind that things never look as good in real life as they do in photos. Melati looks better in real life than it does in Photos. The staff work so hard around the grounds to keep it looking beautiful. Everyone there is really friendly, helpful and positive. My favourite thing about Melati was the massive pool overlooking a private beach.
Like all resorts on Koh Samui it is a lot more expensive to buy food, drink and massages at the resort than it is in the built up areas like Chawang or Bophut - but can you really call $7AUD cocktails expensive? If we wanted to spend less money we just hired a moped for 300 baht for 24 hours ($9) to go in for a meal and some shopping. Its about a 10 minute drive to those areas. If we wanted to have a night out (or if you hate the idea of riding a moped), taxis were only $12. Overall, I can guarantee you won't regret going to Melati.
(Unless you are going to Thailand for a massive party with all of your mates - where you would most likely want to get accommodation in the heart of Chawang).

Room Tip: Pool villas more expensive than the upstairs deluxe rooms but no better in my opinion. In fact, the...

Dear AnnaKelly_85,

Thank you for spending your honeymoon and holiday with us. And of course, thank you for the feedback.

I am happy to see that savvy travelers like yourself understand that while the prices in Thailand are rising, due to prior floods, increase in daily wages and overall development of the country, the rates are still a value compared to standards in the 'west' and the delivery by the team so much more personal. Thanks for making that noted.

Here's to a marriage filled of love, happiness and joy!
