Absolutely fantastic day. The full body massage was excellent, really felt relaxed, I didn't think 55 minutes would go so quick, the food, well I really enjoyed it, also the best chips. Thank you for a lovely day on my birthday xxx

After reading negative reviews about this hotel,it became obvious that there is simply no pleasing some people. The more you read their reviews it becomes obvious that their statements are transparent and sheds more light on the indovidual writing it than it does of the destination.

I stayed here back in 2012 and since then my parents have stayed in 2013 upon my recommendation. The rooms are simply majestic. I resided in an executive suite both pre and post wedding and although my view wasnt anything spectacular as it was at the rear of the hotel, this in no way subdued my experience of grandeur and ability to feel whisked to far off places.

The hotel is simply majestic. I felt like royalty, and the photographic evidence can only elict a fraction of what delights greet you at Wood Hall Hotel and spa

Ohh and if its good enough for the likes of 007 then you know what delights will greet you and im sure that you will agree that the invividuals who without evidence whom manufacture unreliable reports should take their heads out of their derrière and admit that they are simply the competition or Veruca Salt incarnate.

Simply put this is disney brough to life :)

Stayed here whilst on business- excellent customer care from being met in the car park and assisted with my luggage through to excellent attendance in the restaurant and my luggage being collected from my room and loaded into my car the following morning.
The room was spacious with all facilities- no complaints.
Menu adventurous and wine list extensive. The red wine which I ordered was served at optimum temperature. Staff were very attentive and professionally friendly.
Breakfast menu varied and service excellent.
I would absolutely return here and recommend this establishment.

It seems there's a mixed set of reviews recently? All I can say is that my wife and I had a lovely stay at Wood Hall during a weekend in July. Despite 3 weddings happening at the same time, we had their full attention.

The hotel itself is lovely. The location however is amazing, and certainly adds to the atmosphere of the hotel. The food is great (including breakfast). All of this supported by great service - perhaps they've listened to the previous reviews and stepped up their efforts?

I'd recommend a courtyard room if you're looking for a bit of piece and quiet, especially over weekends with weddings.

Dear Guest

Thank you for providing fantastic feedback following your July stay with us.

I was delighted to read that you enjoyed the location of the hotel, the food and the service you endured. Our courtyard rooms are situated to the left hand side of the hotel and are very quiet rooms.

If I may just say with regard to some mixed reviews that we take all comments both good and bad with the same attitude, our team at the hotel are very proud of the service we offer, we are never complacent and continue to strive to deliver the service our guests expect. If we get this wrong we are the first to admit this and we support our teams to ensure we learn from this and do not repeat any issues that are presented.

I thank you for taking the time to post your review and I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind Regards

We stayed here for a couple of nights on 15th & 16th July. We had stayed at the hotel last year and had a fantastic time. This year was quite different. The food is still exceptionally good, well presented and imaginative. :Likewise the room was very comfortable and clean. What lets the hotel down is the service. The staff were all friendly but seemed to have little idea of what was going on. After been shown a table in the bar, we were kept waiting for 10 minutes, until I found a staff member to be served a drink. The white wine we ordered with the meal was not chilled, it was room temperature, and the wine list is not that extensive. The couple next to us, who had ordered a glass of chardonnay, were brought a glass of red wine. We were brought the wrong dessert. Breakfast was no better, and so it went on. There seemed to be a lack of any system or communication between the staff. I was told that there were a lot of new staff just started, but the issue is with the management, not the staff.

Dear Guest

Thank you for providing your feedback following your July stay with us.

Please accept my sincere apologies with regard to the recent service you experienced at the hotel on your return visit to us. I have spoken to my Food and Beverage Manager to ensure the issues you endured are not repeated.

I agree with your comments about the staff, it is not their fault and we as a management team take full responsibility for any issues with guest stays, we will of course support the teams to ensure they fully confident to deliver the service standards required.

With regard your comments about the wine list, we are very proud of the choice of wines we provide and I have to say this is the first time I have heard this comment at the hotel. Our wine list has an extensive variety of choice from around the world, however I’m sure the service received and noticed with regard our wine service that evening must have been disappointing.

Thank you for providing your feedback and I hope that you may look to come back to Wood Hall in the future and experience our normal level of service you received last year.

Kind Regards

Gordon

Arrived a Tuesday night for a dinner before a 2 day meeting.

Service was incredibly slow, both for drinks and for the meal. We had a private room with a limited choice set menu. We sat down at 8 and mains weren't served until nearly 10 PM, and despite it being a set menu, not everything was available! Equally, service was slow at the bar and at breakfast (though my poached eggs were over done) and a limited selection for the buffet (which is in a corridor). Also, the pastry chef needs retraining managing to produce both under done cinnamon swirl and a rock hard brioche. Seriously, I managed to cut it in half and could clap the 2 halves together like coconut shells to make a "horses hooves" noise. Brioche should not do that.

Attention to detail was an issue through out meeting - we had a Flip chart but no pens, hot drinks served without milk, and a selection of teas with no hot water (had to remind them on this every time). On the last day, the water was not replaced at lunchtime. When I asked for this to be done they brought bottles of water that were not just room temp (as they had been throughout out stay - seriously, it's 25 C, chill the water or bring ice!) but were actually hot. God knows where they had been storing them, but I cannot understand how any waiter can bring bottles of water that are hot to the touch and not think "hmm, perhaps I'd better bring some ice too".

My room was made up, but a dirty towel just left in the sink and not replaced. It was mid 20C the whole time we were there. It's an old building , I didn't expect air con in the bedrooms, but when I checked in (early evening) the window was closed (it didn't open properly, I had to prop it open with a bible and a yellow pages) and the fan was off - how much imagination would it have taken to do those and make the room more comfortable?

Honestly, if they got things right the first time they could halve their staff as the amount of running around to fix things not properly done the first time is extraordinary.

On the positive side, the food was generally good (apart from pastry and poached eggs) and as a team activity we had a cocktail making class which was good fun and reasonable value for money.

I wouldn't use this hotel again and suggest Rudding Park as an alternative.

Dear Guest

Thank you for providing your feedback following your June stay with us.

I was so disappointed to read your feedback with regard your visit to us. I have spoken with each of my managers to ensure the issues you have raised are not repeated. We do pride ourselves on delivering first class service but I’m sorry to say it seems not on this occasion. On the positive side I'm glad on the whole you enjoyed the quality of our food and also the cocktail making class which I know from speaking to my team that the group enjoyed.

I’m glad to say we do enjoy some great feedback on our meeting, training and events that we hold and we have a number of companies who use us repeatedly throughout the year. I understand this is the first time you have used us and I’m so sorry that this is the impression of the level of service we offer. I would be happy if I could speak to you personally and if would be kind enough to contact at gburniston@handpicked.co.uk to discuss the issues with your visit.

Kind Regards

Gordon
