Agriturismo il Ponticello

Our stay involved warm fires, fantastic dining and exploring the incredible landscape. You are amongst old villages and farms, with trails leading to absolutely breathtaking views of the Tuscan countryside. Your hosts are warm and helpful, and offer no shortage of advice. The accommodation itself is comfortable and rustic, with all the modern conveniences but without any unnecessary frills. Their locally produced olive oil is among the best I have tasted. A warning to travelers: During your stay, you might forget what year it is. Imagining yourself living in a simpler, slower age, returning to the world today might prove difficult.

If you want to experience genuine Tuscan country lifestyle, this is the place to go! Not only for the landscapes and views, which are amazing, but also for the people who give a really warm and friendly welcome. The calm and peace of this place make it perfect both for a long-weekend escape and for a longer holiday - in fact, although it is in the middle of the countryside, you're also a half-an-hour drive from Florence and close to all the other Tuscan beauties!
Whilst you're there, you might also want to try the local and home-made produce, like the salamis or the delicious extra virgin olive oil.
I love this place!

This agriturismo is composed by a little peasant house, separated in two smallish apartments. Whilst everything has been refurbished to avoid the unpleasantries of true peasant living (ie. cold wind blowing through every door/window etc etc) the structure and the feel has been kept as close to its origins as possible. The result is a beautiful and comfortable house, that strongly reminisces of its peasant origins.

The location offers plenty of walking opportunities, constantly surrounded by vast vistas on mountains, valleys and woods, and if you have a car, it's not very far from Florence, which has to be seen, and you can easily drive there for a day trip.

The owners seemed to be extremely kind and accomodating people, and the house was shiny clean when we got in (and we left it so when we left).

So, a very good place for an holiday.

Maurizio

This was the most amazing vacation I ever had. The scenery was amazing and the place was breathtaking. Vila was very comfortable, clean and inspiring; exactly how I would imagine a Vila. Astonishing feeling. Our host were warm and friendly and of a great help in making our stay as relaxing as possible. The food was out of this world and I will definitively return. That was a true Tuscany experience that I recommend to everyone.

Perched at the top of the valley, my partner and I were welcomed by Alessandra who looks after the farm and shown to the well appointed Tuscan villas followed by a quick scout around the farm! As it was a Sunday and the shops were closed but the time we were there so she brought us fresh milk from the cows, honey from here bees, coffee and some beautiful jams for us to wake up too!! Then brough us more when we ran low during the week!!

During our stay she gave us a tour of the farm where we recieved a basket of her finest vegatables that we picked fresh from the vegetable patch and a pot of honey to take home with us! She then invited us to a special night where we indulged in Tuscan food cooked by Alessanrda with locals who had a just completed a historical walk. Here we met the local Mayor who invited us on a special tour for only us to Da Vinci's summer house and through the local Church which Napoleon used as his residence whe he conqured Itay!!

The villas are set beautifully at the top of the valley and has a Roman road that winds up the hills you can walk on and a beautiful stream that runs close by. You get some sun in the morning but have great sun in the afternoon. There are outdoor funiture and BBQ's provided to make the most of this and local shops to buy food at. I would reccomend the penny market!! There is a train (which wasn't running when we were there due to works) that runs a service to Florence and the surrounding areas for very cheap fares. We drove to next town and caught the train - it was very quick and comfortable.

We drove to Vaiano and is probably the best way to get there and see the little wineries and sight in the local area but definately get the train to go to the bigger cities!!

All in all we had a great time and loved the place!! Alessandra was a brilliant host and a informative guide!! Her English is very good and we loved it staying at Agriturismo - So much so I proposed!!

Great accommodation offering clean, spacious, modern facilities in an historic building. Off the beaten tourist track, in a hill side location with valley views, but only short drive to Florence. The dedicated owner is happy to share her farm and explain its workings - nothing was too much trouble. The impromptu local trips she arranged were fantastic and are some of the most memorable things we did in Europe. Highly recommended.
.

Great walks or laze in the garden and admire the views
