We stayed in the little house for 3 weeks and had a fabulous holiday. The location is fantastic with beaches, villages, Spain, rivers, larger towns all close by and the house itself is well equipped, cosy and just idyllic. Whether it was meals in the garden or snuggled up in front of the fire, the house was beautiful. We would certainly go back!

“No Faxbats, just a beautiful place”

After travelling to the Béarnaise region on my quest to find the mythical Foxbat (Vulpas Megachiroptera), I heard of sightings in the area of Sauveterre de Bearn. I hired a new Golf (remembering the handbrake issue) and set off.

I stayed at the Little House again (after previously staying a year or two before) and was delighted to find the place as immaculate and homely as ever, this time with a few more mod-cons! Wifi Internet has been added as has satellite TV. This is a special place and a perfect retreat for those looking to get away from it all.

It turned out to be an awful choice for the Foxbat hunter, however, as I found nothing. I still have yet to sight one of the elusive creatures but will be trying again next year. Romania is supposedly rife with them from October onwards.

This was our second stay at the little house & was every bit as enjoyable as the first, if not more! We traveled down to the house via an overnight stop in Bordeaux (highly recommended!) having stayed with family approx 4 hours north of the little house the week before. As before everything was in excellent order which makes relaxing all the more easier. The local village is great for somewhere to eat in the evenings, to grab a drink after a walk or some supplies from the local supermarket & bakery. We also took in a day trip to San Sebastian this time round (only a 90 min drive away) as well as the local market in Salies-de-Bearn which are both a must if you're staying here. Needless to say, we look forward to staying at the little house in the future!

“Very pleasant house in a beautiful area”

We spent one week in this very pleasant, recently (2012) refurbished house. The house is very comfortable and includes everything you might need during your stay. The kitchen is well equipped. The living room is very cosy. The bathroom is amazing. The double room is nice and comfortable although the mattress could be better and the bed less noisy. The garden is big and furnished. But most importantly, there is a beautiful river just 2 minutes walking where you can refresh yourself or contemplate the nature, amazing!!
The nearby village, Sauveterre de Béarn is very quaint and pleasant, not crowded at all with beautiful middle age buildings and a nice café under a tree with smiling staff and live music once or twice a week. The region is absolutely beautiful and offers loads of opportunities if you like moutains, forests and rivers.

“Lovely Little House in a Lovely Little Village”

Located less than an hour's drive from the convenient Biarritz airport, and Biarritz beaches and a slight longer drive from the Spanish border, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the little house. The overall standard of the property was great and all aspects of the house very comfortable. The local supermarket, bakery and bars are only a 5 minute drive away while there are a number of excellent restaurants in the local area. One of which were you can eat a 3-course meal and have a couple of glasses of wine for only €25! The property is great if you're travelling with friends and would comfortable suit a family too and we can't wait to visit again in the future.
