We had booked to stay at Le Moulin Neuf for three nights last summer but sadly our car broke down and we could only stay for one night. Whilst there another guest told us that his family came regularly, flying from Leeds/Bradford Airport to Bergerac, which is only 25 miles away, and hiring a car. Immediately we thought of returning this way, since Leeds/Bradford is our local airport, and it was very easy and straightforward to do. This time we stayed for a week. The owner, Robert Chappell, has thought of all the things that many bed and breakfast owners don't think of and all is calm and comfort. Lovely breakfasts, beautiful grounds, immaculate rooms in a beautiful old building. Robert lives in the house next door and brings breakfast over in the morning. He has two delightful and very well-behaved dogs which add character! A pretty stream flows through the grounds and the garden is delightful.
This b and b is ideally situated in the midst of all the Dordogne's greatest attractions - - caves, prehistory, chateaux, countryside, gardens - and there's an excellent restaurant, Chez Julien, in nearby Paunat, a ten-minute walk away. We had some lovely walks round about and Robert is always helpful, giving directions and lending us a detailed map of the area. One thing that particularly impressed us was all the local flora and fauna - there is so much else going on in this area that it isn't always mentioned.
We want to return there as soon as possible. It's wonderful. Many thanks, Robert.
