Venosa Beach Resort & Spa
Ranked #1 of 79 Hotels in Didim
Reviewed 30 August 2014

Myself , hubby and 3 children aged 11,9 and 5 stayed at the Venosa for 1 week in August. We arrived early hours and first impressions were impressive. We were on the 9th floor which had truly amazing views. Our family room was lovely , clean and a good size. Maid visited us everyday and brought us a fresh bottle of water. We are a fairly easy going family as long as things are clean and kids are happy then so are we.
We were introduced fairly early on to Fatboy who is a friendly easy going chap who is happy to help with any question you might have. Fatboy is part of the Spa team who goes round offering you and telling you about the spa treatments they have to offer. He is certainly not pushy and I was happy to book one as I had planned this before I arrived. I booked the Turkish Bath and a full Anti stress massage which was truly lovely. They looked after me very well and was a good start to my holiday.
I was very clued up on this hotel having read many reviews and can never understand why people put that they couldn't believe it was hour and half transfer and it is not in the centre of Altinkum ......do people not read up on their holidays before they go as we knew all this before so was very aware. However just outside the hotel you can catch the little bus for 2TL per person for an 8 min journey to where the shops and Altinkum beach is. We visited this once in our stay which was nice and easy to do. Do not book if you like to be in the centre of everything , we loved the fact we were away from everything so suited us. Hotel has everything we needed from pool, spa, slides , beach, water sports , food and alcohol and wall to wall sunshine.

Food was good and puddings were even more tantalising. Relax and try different things we certainly did. Yes the kids food needed a little bit more imagination but for a week it was fine. We didn't try the a la carte but friends we met tried the Mexican and said it was lovely.
Food was always on offer you will not go hungry , chips, burgers, jacket potatoes, chicken , turkey , lamb , beef, omelettes , waffles , soups, cheeses, bread, croissants , spaghetti pasta , pitta, meatballs, plus many more dishes. I loved having a Ameretto and coke tastes like Dr pepper so was very enjoyable. They do a nice Ben 10 cocktail non alcoholic of course which my 9 year old enjoyed. Hubby liked the beer so all good.

We did have to pop the towels down early as seems like everyone was doing this as if you like certain areas of the pool. We liked to be by the slides as my boys aged 11 and 9 must have gone down these over 200 times. Me and my little girl aged 5 did the green one together which she loved. They are good fun adults too loved them. The lifeguard there called Tuna (sp) was a nice young man he respected us and complimented us on our boys for behaving and listening , as many children do not pay attention to the rules on the slides as he has to be strict due to safty ie only one on a slide at one time.

The beach is lovely and yes a bit shingley but we knew this before unlike other reviews that were surprised. It's fine though kids and swim shoes and was not a problem fish swimming around your feet how lovely is that. Beach is private and clean , ideal for us as hubby hates sand and sun cream together so was easy to go to and easy to leave and return to the pool. Music by the pool is loud but didn't affect us and was enjoyable .... Tip don't sit near the speakers if you don't like it

Yes the lifts are very busy and yes sometimes you have to have a little patience but your on holiday so there's no rush , take the stairs if you are 1st 2nd 3rd floor I would but lots didn't. We even took the stairs and we were in the 9th floor and yes that was like a workout especially going up.

The staff work very hard especially the waiters we interacted with them and kids were trying to learn Turkish which they loved.

There is also a professional photo shoot there which we booked to have an half hour session with again was my choice as I wanted a family photo of all us 5 and one of my children altogether. Well this was absolutely amazing and the photos were awesome so we got an awesome album and the disk to be able to get bigger prints later at our leisure. The staff there were very professional and is a lovely keepsake of a truly fabulous holiday.

Transfer home was a bit naughty as the driver stopped after 25 mins and said we can have a break however this was not really for us but was for him so he could have his dinner. Not impressed as the hanging around in the heat made my boy nauseous and he was sick. Apparently it's the norm in Turkey for drivers to stop however we were not impressed.

Not the hotels fault at all and was the only blimp of a truly wonderful family holiday. We certainly had a super time and we would return . Definitely recommend for families , entertainment is ok but we made our own with some other English families we met.

One other thing is some of the other nationalities are so so rude pushing in queues ie waiting for waffles or the lift they just stroll in front. Has made me realise how polite and well mannered us English are just rise above it ..... Shame really but again not the hotels fault !!

Room Tip: Higher the floor better the view but slower the lifts. All have sea view.

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Venosa and was really impressed with the hotel. Excellent rooms with fantastic views and huge selection of food at the restaurant. Beach was lovely and could always get a sun lounger. Pool area is huge and acoustic nights at the pool bar were fab! Just a few little areas it could be improved on, more signs in the restaurant about what food is and what it contains. Air con is public areas needs improving as it is too hot. Also need quilts in the rooms not just blankets. Would recommend this hotel to anyone though loved it!!!

Just back from a weeks holiday - family of 4, with two children, 12 & 15. A fabulous hotel, fantastic views. Very clean, the grounds are maintained 24/7, resort spotless. Loads of sunbeds although the 'best ones' do go early, but enough to go round. The staff are very courteous - big thanks to Ali & Mehmet, Bar staff who looked after us, and Mario and his team, providing poolside entertainment, and also in the evenings. Beach right next to the pool. Amazing singer in the pool bar most evenings. Great choice of food. Would defo go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms have amazing sea views. We were on Floor 7

Just returned and thoroughly enjoyed my weeks stay. Travelled with wife and 2 kids (aged 6 and a baby of 6months).

90 min transfer but swift check in, however, hotel is a bit isolated but equally tranquil.

Ensure you get on floor 1 or 2 as the lifts can be hectic at key times. All rooms are sea view so no issues with quality of view.

Food is good but at times repetitive albeit good repetitive. Moreover certain nights are fantastic for food, all tastes catered for. Turkish theme nights are outstanding.

Grounds are impeccable and hotel & spa are really good.

Staff are truly outstanding and work so hard, hotel is immaculately clean.

Evening entertainment is good.

Pools are fantastic, 6 yr old loved the slides.

Bus outside hotel which takes you to altinkum centre in 5 mins for a few pence. Some good stalls for shopping.

Only gripe was the air con wasn't effective in lobby bars etc so really hot and this must be addressed. We were forced to go to our room early for our babies need for coolness. If this was amended then this hotel would be outstanding. I felt it was a tactic by the hotel to ensure people resided to their rooms so saves on all inc package. (Wasn't happy with this part as baby was overheating)

Would recommend to people if you get the hotel for an economically sound price.

Room Tip: Low floor as lifts are an issue and add time to your day. Email hotel and request floor 1 or 2 as th...

I stayed at Venosa with my daughter for a week of total relax and fun. We had a lovely time, and appreciated the beauty of the beach and the comfort of our room and the facilities of the hotel.
The grounds are very well maintained and the resort spotlessly clean. Lovely spacious rooms, with great sea views. The dawn and sunset were spectacular.
Food is plenty, though a bit repetitive. I found all the staff, with few exceptions, friendly and always willing to help and noticed that their basic english language level may often be mistaken for being a bit brusque, but perhaps this is more getting defensive if engaged in conversation. Some staff has no knowledge at all of english and often questions were answered by intuition, some not fully understood - in any case that prompted us to learn a few turkish words to communicate, which was great! I think a more fluent english knowledge would be beneficial, being this regarded as a 5 star hotel and a bit more training in customer service at Reception (again if this is to be a 5 star). We didn't try many of the facilities offered by the hotel as we rather stayed in the beach all day - it is a bit difficult to find a place in the shade if you don't reserve early, so more shaded areas to cater for all guests who don't want to get up at 7am to secure a place, would be best.
Some of the previous reviewers pointed out the rudeness of some 'other' nationalities - I would say that poor manners are indeed a pretty much international issue, and most of the loud, gross and boorish, who cut the queue or fight over the toungue to the pancake were not of a specific nationality, but can be found at homeland too...We thought the place and the people charming, made two trips to Altinkum using a very cheap, regular, reliable and thus would say very efficient bus service!
We enjoyed the entertainment in the evening - the team worked really hard and we thought they were great performers and dancers, though they seem modest about it.
We had dinner at the Turkish restaurant and ejoyed a lovely meal in a fantastic setting by the beach, we felt warmly welcomed and the staff was incredibly kind and professional. The shops available in the hotel are good
Overall this is a good 4 star - not a 5 star, we felt a bit of lack for the high level customer service of a 5 star - cold and distant, with answers cut short or questions a bit brushed off, however we have a very good memory of this holiday overall and would recommend the place.

Stayed for 2 weeks. 7th to 21st August. Family of 6. Me, hubby, mum and 3 kids aged 14, 11 & 9. Brilliant hotel. Spotlessly clean. Ample selections of food to choose from - can't understand the people who said there wasn't - did you go to a different hotel????. Only thing I was disappointed with was the Italian A La Carte. Load of cr*p! More choice and better selection of food in the main restaurant so didn't try any of the others. Drinks plentiful and of decent measures. Snack Bar that opened from 12 till 6 ish. Ice creams everyday from 3pm to 5pm, and tent that serves Pancakes and Waffles. Lobby Bar also has cakes and cookies from 6pm. You will never go hungry here! Never experienced any rudeness of staff (I expect the ones who complained they did were rude to the staff in the first place!!). Sunbed situation a bit of a nightmare and have to say it's the British!! Unfortunately you get embroiled in it whether you want to or not in order to bag yourself some beds in the shade and find yourselves getting up at 6am to put your towels on the beds :-) We are a family of 6 - kids ate at the snack bar most days and loved it. Breakfast and lunch fine in the main restaurant, but gets bit manic at dinnertime - mostly due to the inconsiderate and rude Polish, Russian and Turks who a) are greedy and feel the need to pile high 2 or 3 plates of food per person but leave half untouched (why??? - there was never a shortage of food) and b) sit at a table of 6 when there were only 2 of them. Rooms were spacious and again spotlessly clean. We had 2 rooms on 6th floor and views were amazing. Wherever you look around the hotel there is always somebody cleaning and ensuring the hotel is kept at it's best. Shop in the hotel is good and not too expensive. Fat Boy is great and will do you a good deal on some Treatments at the Spa. We had Turkish Bath, Hammam, and Anti Stress Massage and cost about £40 - worth every penny. Pool areas really nice. Kids loved the size of the main pool and the slides. We tended to sunbath near bridge which is far enough away from the Animation Team that you don't really notice them other than when they are walking around the pool asking you to join in stuff. A simple no and they go on their way and do not pester you. (There isn't really loud music all the time like some people say either!). Night time entertainment isn't great - all done by the Animation team with the exception of 1 or 2 nights when external acts were brought in. In my view the quality of the evening entertainment and the A La Carte Restaurants are what stops this from being a 5 star hotel. I could really go on and on about this hotel, but to sum it up I would just sat this really is a great hotel. OK, it's not quite 5 star, but it's not 4 either! I would go back in an instant :-)

Room Tip: Higher the room better the view. If you want a quieter holiday, sit either by the round pool at the...
