“never realized--------”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

Never realized how good this hotel was until I tried the Horizon next door. The horizon was OK, basic and adequate, but the Hotel Burak was by far the better of the two.The choice of breakfast was a typical Turkish one with the option of an English breakfast for a small extra charge. The pool area is excellent compared to the Horizon and the air con is a lot cheaper. While I can say that the staff at the horizon were pleasant and helpful I do feel that the staff at the Burak had the added quality of experience behind them.Briefly, my next holiday in Altinkum will be at the Burak.

I have just returned from a week at hotel Burak, the hotel is basic but you get what you pay for and that is fine.
The problem
Is the other bits and pieces ,charges for
Pad for sunbed total ban on any outside
Food and drink being brought in,and then
The real let down the staff ,the bar staff where rude to the extreme most of the staff just sit round playing pool all day and could barley crack a smile. It wont be one i visit again in a rush

Arrived at 5am, staff helped with suitcase up the steps to reception but then we were on our own. Small lift took us up to our floor and then we were in darkness. We managed to eventually locate a switch on the wall and then found our room. By this time the corridor light had gone back out and we were in darkness again, with the help of flashlight on the iPhone we discovered the key then had to go into the slot on the wall to get electric in the room. The rooms are very basic and with the sight of it and with it being 5am we decided just to sleep on it. When we woke up we discovered that the double bed was in fact two singles pushed together. The tv didn't work and if you want a shower it means you flood the bathroom floor which makes it a death trap. The cupboard door was broken which meant it wouldnt open so we had to keep our clothing in the cases! The cleaners weren't very good either and kept leaving the rug dumped in the corner of the room. We decided as we would be out of it most of our holiday we could live with it.
Breakfast we avoided as the full breakfast was like rubber. You had to pay 4lira for a small glass of fruit juice unless you like awful tasting coffee or flavoured tea with warm milk. The bread was fresh but both toasters had seen better years and you had to use the wooden tongs to retrieve your toast when you thought it was ready. The meal menu looked good but the meals that arrived were pretty awful unless you ordered chips and was not worth the money. We spend the days at the pool and found it was better to go out to a resturant for lunch and come back. Staff were very friendly, enough so that they like to throw you in the pool when you don't expect it! If you try to put them in the pool as payback you get 'a row' from the manager. It states in the hotel if you leave your sunbed unattended for more than an hour the towel was taken to reception. This wasnt the case and you had to go down for the doors opening at 8am to reserve one. there were a few large families who claimed multiple sunbeds and never used them all day. the staff wouldnt remove the towels so other guests could use them. they were just told sorry and to come back later. It was sad to see that young female guests spent their entire holiday hanging around the young waiters acting like they had met "the one" instead of going out with the rest of their family and enjoying their holiday as the minute they had left the hotel the waiters had moved onto a new arrival! Wouldn't stay in this hotel again

don`t stay at the Burak if you are older or disabled, my friend and I arrived abt. 10.30 after a flight of 4 hrs, my friend is 73 yrs and I am 69 and disabled, we were not offered any help getting our luggage into the hotel--up all the steps, staff were there but just stood and watched us struggle, we found our room but next morning having to go down all the steps -13 to the dining room was too much for me , I booked the hotel because of it having a lift but it didn`t go down to the dining room, so lucky for us we had a good holiday rep who managed to move us to the Muglu which suited us much better.

Room Tip: cannot say because we only stayed 1 night

I have just returned from a week staying in this hotel 1/10/13- 08/10/13. Having read some earlier bad reviews about the hotel I was slightly worried! I was pleasantly surprised.
Rooms were cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed. Overall cleanliness of the hotel was very good. Pool cleaned daily and pool area well maintained.
Staff were all great- special shout out to Touran- who I beat at many games of black jack- Lovely guy. All helpful and friendly entertaining my 2 sons with games of pool.
Will go back again, just hope for better weather next time!

Room Tip: pool view nice

Just back from Burak hotel October 201
Basic
Sheets were not changed all week plus they were very hard , sinks hardly washed, clean towels every few days
Good Location
Breakfast consisted of slices of French bread ( which you had to toast by yourself ) boiled eggs , olives, cucumber , feta cheese and watermelon, tea or coffee. Not worth getting out of bed for there were a lot of guests complaining about it . If you were willing to pay 10 Lira a day you could have an English breakfast.
Hard plastic sun beds were free but if you took a padded mat to put on top of it they charged 2 1/2 Lira a day.
Air conditioning £21per week.
Litre botltle of coke and fanta cost 16Lira and from the supermarket across the road 5 lira for the same 2 bottles.
Would I go back not likely.

Room Tip: Don't go !!!

This was my 2nd time here in a year. On this trip the 2nd and 3rd week in September. The hotel is more like a 3star than 2, so great value. I used it as a base really and so hardly had the Turkish breakfast ( which, by the way looked nice) you could have an English fry up for 10 lira if you wanted. Richard ( head barman) is fabulous, he really is a great fella. All the staff are really (except one annoying lad, he is young and wants to train to be a dentist, he`s lucky he did`nt have to visit one!!!!. The pool (spotlessly clean) area is very good indeed along with the pool bar and restaurant area.which are basic but none the less very good.I also did not have a safe and felt very comfotable leaving my watches, small change money, rings, my tablet, phone and anything else of value in my room. The shower/toilet room is ok also, dont forget it is 2star.

Room Tip: Ask for the Z floor overlooking the pool
