“Not for birthday celebrations - hotel needs a service upgrade”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2012

We asked staff to help us make the 8 year birthday of our daughter special. We kindly asked the concierge the day before. We asked when we ordered breakfast to the room (in writing), we asked at dinner, we asked at the bar for after dinner. Result? No reaction - the birthday was ignored. The hotel is nice in many ways and price is reasonable but this is clearly not a 5 star hotel. Other things they could improve: Internet costly and not working in several parts of hotel, one of our five beds is terrible, restaurant service is non-existent in the pool side restaurant as in the pool bar. Fair service (again not 5 star) in the Pista Pasta restaurant.

This hotel is hidden away from the tourist traffic in Malta.. Although the rooms are slightly dated compared to the ultra modern hotels on the coast it more than makes up for it in style and service. The pool area is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel from check in to departure.
We stayed for 3 nights and were greeted with an unexpected upgrade on arrival. The room was very good with everything you needed , my only complaint would be the limited Tv channels and my continuing gripe about not having free wi-fi in all major hotel chains.. I had to watch the Olympic opening ceremony online at a cost!
However the hotel is away from most tourists and is located in the middle of the island it offers easy accesse to all beaches, attractions and venues .
Thankyou to the staff of the hotel for a wonderful few days , I know we will return soon.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for an upgrade

Stayed for three nights over last weekend. Some nice touches include live music in the bar (piano player) in the evenings and welcome glass of freshly squeezed orange juice as you check in. All a bit dated but that's part of the charm. Quite a big open air pool on two levels and plenty of shallow water for little ones. Very busy on the weekend with local families buying day passes. Pretty expensive, wine €5, beer €5.70 and no shops close to buy your own supplies. (Try Cisk, the locally brewed beer, cheaperbthan the imported beer and very nice). Lovely open air pizza and pasta restaurant, with tables set out round a fountain, with main courses from €10. Bottle of wine €18. Nice for a last night treat. Open top bus tour stops just outside. Hotel is right in the middle of the island so just about as far away as you can get from noisy seaside crowds and night life, but still only ten minutes by car if you like that kind of thing. Good cheap and reliable public transport with a bus stop very close to the hotel. Visit Medina Glass where the craftsmen blow glass in front of you. Visit Valletta for the noon day gun at The Battery. Visit St Anton gardens just across the road and see the terrapins. Visit Melitta's, the cafe/ restaurant by the gardens for a good and much cheaper local menu, and a free wifi connection.

My husband and I stayed here at the end of July with friends as we were attending a friend's wedding in Malta.
The hotel is in a lovely quiet setting with pretty gardens and a lovely pool area. The rooms and beds are huge and we had a nice balcony overlooking the front of the hotel's gardens.
We were on B&B and there was a large selection at breakfast and the food was very nice.
The staff were friendly and helpful, although service was sometimes very very slow!
The food served at the pool is really nice and there is a large menu to choose from but it takes far too long to get your food! We waited an hour and a half for a salad and a burger and the pool restaurant wasn't even half full! Food is reasonably priced but drinks are expensive - 4.50 euros for a bottle of water so we bought drinks at a stall across the road.
The downside of the location of this hotel is that there are no nearby shops or cafes if you wanted to go for a walk or buy drinks or snacks at a supermarket.
The hotel runs a free transfer service to other places on the island but we only managed to get a place on one of these mini-buses, once in five days as it's really booked up. So really they need to have more transfers available as taxis are 20 euros each way to most places, like St Julians, Valletta etc.
Overall, it's a lovely hotel in a peaceful, relaxing setting and we got a great deal with Secret Escapes, so it was excellent value for money.

This is our third visit to the Corinthia Palace, and it impresses more an more. The staff are long serving, whcih reflects on the loyalty they feel to the product and their "buy in" to service to guests. You wouldn't want to take young children here: there is not enough fo them to do, and its too far from the sea, but for couples who want relaxation, or families who want to be near the centroid of the island, it is perfect. There is no fight for sunbeds, and dinner in either the Corinthia Room or the Rickshaw restaurant is a real draw. You can't better it.
A genuine haven from Malta's summer bustle.Unresrevedly recommend.

Room Tip: 3rd floor, which has been refurbished, but in the years to come others will be.

Our stay in the Corinthia was absolutely perfect. The hotel, it's facilities and rooms are lovely and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is absolutely overwhelming. From the moment we were welcomed with a refreshing drink right up until our departure with a warm handshake, we had an absolutely lovely time.

The location of the hotel is excellent if, like us, you're looking to stay away from the crowds at Paceville etc. The hotel could easily be reached by bus from the airport (X3) and from there it's only another 25min by bus (54) to Valletta. There are a few restaurants either in the hotel as well as in the immediate area. There's also a small shop nearby if needed.

The rooms in the hotel are very well maintained and pretty much spotless. The beds were very comfortable, albeit quite soft and the aircon kept everything nice and cool for a good nights rest.

The Pool area is a little bit smaller then the pictures would lead you to believe, however there was always plenty of room either in the sun or in the shade. It is unfortunate that the pool bar closes quite early (6ish at the latest), leaving the guests thirsty. There pool is also next to a relatively busy road, so don't expect a completely serene experience.

The different restaurants in the hotel were quite good and quite good value for money, we usually ended up at "Pizza, Pasta et Basta" after a long day because of the casual atmosphere. The hotel bar and it's nice little terrace was pretty good as well, however this was slightly pricey.

The thing that made the hotel great however, is without a doubt the wonderful staff. From the cleaning staff to the hotel manager, everyone was polite, friendly, had a good sense of humour and was above all very helpful.

We definately hope to be able to return to Malta soon and when we do, we'll definately consider the Corinthia again.

We chose the Corinthia Palace as an escape from the dreadful summer in Britain for a week in the sun.

There was an offer on at the Coritnhia Palace and since we had never been to Malta, we opted to go there for the sun. What a great choice we made.

The Hotel is excellent and fully deserves it five stars for the quality of the amenities and the care and consideration of the staff.

The gardens are delightful. The pool area and bars are relaxing and pleasant, with ample pool side beds and sufficient shade for those who want it.

The separate restaurants were all of a very high standard and offered a variety of cuisine, from traditional Mediterranean fare, far eastern recipes, Italian food as well as grills and sea food.

The local wines were also very good value and are well worth trying. The Maltese have invested heavily in their wine producing areas and are now reaping the benefits.

The bedrooms were spacious, well-stocked and very comfortable, with good air-conditioning and comfortable verandahs for those warm nights , with splendid views across the grounds

The botanical gardens across the road are well worth a mornin's visit.

The shuttle bus, which was free of charge, took us into different parts of the island to sample the Maltese fare and hospitality.

This turned out to be a very relaxing and sunny week. We were very lucky and will definitely return
