“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 11 July 2009

We stayed here for our honeymoon in June 2009. It was a lovely hotel, very clean and tidy. However, the room was not what we would expect from a five star hotel. It was quite small, especially the bathroom. We did comment on it, especially as it was our honeymoon, but they were not really bothered and offered to upgrade us if we paid for it.

The pool area and spa were great. We did not use the indoor pool as the weather was so good that we wanted to be outside. There are plenty of sunloungers and it never felt crowded. The pool and area were very clean. The poolside restaurant was expensive, partly due to the exchange rate at present, but compared to the other restaurants it was still more expensive.

The other restaurants were lovely as well, the Rickshaw was amazing and the pizzeria outside great as well. We only went to the Corinthia room once but it was lovely, and good value. We found the complimentary bus service to Valetta and Sliema really helpful and used it a lot.

The only things to comment on is that the service is sometimes not what I would expect of a 5 star hotel. When wanting to speak to someone at reception we always had to wait as there was only ever one person on the desk. This started to become quite irritating, especially as there was never an apology and the service sometimes quite short.

In all, a lovely hotel but there were a few things that I would comment on for a 5 star hotel.

Arrived home today after a week at the Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa. Mum and I had a lovely relaxing stay and very much enjoyed the outside pool and sun loungers and the indoor pool/jacuzzi and sauna. We also booked in for some treatments in the spa - the 'dead sea' flotation pool was amazing and the rasul mud very hydrating for the skin!

Room was a good size and I loved the nice and powerful shower. The hotel has a very elegant atmosphere with immaculate marble staircases.

We used the shuttle bus to get to Valleta and it was a very pleasant journey in a nice little air-conditioned mini bus. It was easy to get the local buses to Mdina which is quite near. To be honest though, we enjoyed the hotel so much we didn't really want to go out that much!

Booked in half board (very good value) and enjoyed the meals in the Corinthia Room, although quite formal silver service the waiters were very chatty and friendly. I was impressed when various managers took the time to enquire about our day. We also enjoyed lunches around the pool and the cocktail bar in the evening. Felt all of the prices were quite reasonable even with a not-so-good exchange rate at the moment.

All of the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, we will be going again! Thanks to all for a great holiday, Barbara and Helen White.

Just had a weeks stay at the Corinthia Palace Hotel with my daughter. Everything, from our 0300 am check in, was perfect. The room was lovely, pool relaxing. We ate at the Hotel Pizzeria and Rickshaw restuarant, all reasonable prices for the excellent quality food. Staff, especially the 2 concierge were superb, could not do enough for us.
Can't wait to go back.

We had 11 days at the hotel and were unable to critisize any part of it.The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was so large that even a king size bed fitted in perfectly. The balcony was ok but not a great view,The pool area was attractive with plenty of loungers both in the sun and shade. The various dining facilities gave options for formal and informal eating all with good quality food. The hotel shuttle bus took guests to Valletta and other venues so that a hire car was not necessary particularly as traffis was heavy and some roads were verypot-holed and badly signposted. The bus service from Valletta went to all parts of the island and was convenient eventhough some buses were very old.If we went back to Malta we would undoubtedly go back to this hotel.

hotel is worth every penny. We had a lovely stay in this hotel without any faults at all.
This is more than I can say about Malta! Neither my husband or myself enjoyed the island at all. It would have been nice if the hotel had been somewhere else.
Beware of motorists. Driving on the left is all they have in common with the British. The infrastucture of Malta is in a bad state, especially their roads which have fallen to bits.
Did visit Gozo for the day which was far better than Malta - much quieter too. Malta resembles the Costas of the 1960's - great shame.

We got a great deal from Travel Republic, organised our flights with Easyjet and had a very cheap hire car through Economy Cars, collected at the airport (but do your extra ins cover from home on the 'net, its a lot cheaper). We had intended to give me a rest from driving all the time, especially going out for meals in the evening .. but the busses stop running early in the Winter. The Island is very small so you can see everything with a car easily. Do go to Gozo for a day taking the car, its well worth the money. Rockshaw Restaurant very good and not too pricey. The Lord Nelson is as good as all the reviews say, but costly. The local pub is what you imagine cheap and cheerful. Best local food we found does not really want tourists because it was packed with local groups was FRA GIUSEPPE, 3 Triq Dun Spir Sammut, Hal Balzan only 10 mins walk away.

This hotel makes a very nice first impression, with lots of "old-world charm" outdoors and in the reception area. The breakfast is served in a ballroom and is very good and varied.

The rooms are a nice size, but the furniture, while clean and comfortable, is from the seventies. Bathrooms are clean and functional.

The overall experience was very nice and the value we got for our 105Euro business package, including Internet (wireless & fast), breakfast, unlimited mini-bar and even a rental car (which we didn't take) is simply the best I've seen in a long time. Not sure how they're making their money...

All in all, I would recommend it highly, especially for business travellers.
