If you want a lovely palm shaded quiet beach, just seconds from your room, and a warm swimming pool too, then this is the place. The location is superb, as is the service from the staff. The accommodation is basic but clean, and that is why it is value for money. If you have realistic expectations you can only be pleasantly surprised when they are exceeded! There are restaurants of all standards a short walk away. Fisherman's wharf is a 10 minute taxi ride and is worth the journey for the entertainment and food. We stayed 4 nights and loved it. We will be returning! The opposite of Chaweng.

Room Tip: Paying for aircon is worth the extra

I highly recommend this place - they have 4 types oh bungalows from traditional wooden ones (the most old but with wonderful garden) to newest ones which are modern and very clean - the all look at pool, some first from the entrance look also at parking and building. All building is transpiration / with a lot of windows and glass doors. Most private bungalows are on third row - last from right side of main building. Hotel is very homey - staff try to do everything you ask - even drop you to shop in rain or give you some dishes, additional towels , etc. All places are very clean - pool and beach clean every morning. Breakfast are good, you never stay hungry) food in restaurant is traditionally tasty, prices are moderate. The beach is very beautiful with a lot of big and small palm trees. But s little bit crowdy sometimes because of people coming outside / and it’s no wonder cos it’s the best place among all Maenam Beach / Sea is deep from the beginning and I love it, water is not cristal but you can swim and it’s important. There were not waiving in March just sometimes, but coz of deep sea waves are not high. Sunrises are Wonderful, sand is mainly coarse and yellow color. So I opened this hotel and place for myself and booked it already for my next vacation. As for infrastructure - some shops and bars are in 5-10 min of walking distance from Shangrila.
So I opened this hotel and place for myself and I already booked it for my next vacation for 3 weeks!

Beautiful setting, but if you want to relax around the pool, enjoy some quiet time on the beach, forget it! You will have to fight your way through the prams and crying children/toddlers, breakfast is the same, it should be advertised as a children's hotel and not a romantic getaway!!

We were so glad we stayed here for 6nights- staff were so friendly, our simple hut was clean & comfortable & the pool was an added bonus. The food in the restaurant was great, but there are many restaurants near by.
The beach is a stones throw away too. Lovely & quiet at night, unlike other place in Koh Samui
Would definitely return
