We paid 500 baht which was about $17 AUD. We booked through booking.com and the resort was sold out the next day when we tried to extend our stay in person so I would advise booking ahead if you are keen to stay here.
The bungalow was larger than the average bungalow in Thailand. There was a queen bed, the mattress was very firm. A little seating area. We had a big ceiling fan and a decent pedestal fan which kept us cool despite having no AC. There was a bathroom in the bungalow with what was supposed to be a hot shower, however the shower didn't heat the water which frankly was OK since we preferred a cool shower given the heat! There was a random additional room in the bungalow which was fully tiled and had nothing but a single tap in it at ground level. The purpose of this room was unknown. A nice balcony overlooking the resort gardens rounded out the bungalow package.
The staff were awesome and spoke pretty good English. There was a nice beach bar with rustic seating and a big swing to share with your partner. The food was also excellent here. The Masaman curry was one of the best we had in Thailand. We watched an amazing sunset from the beach bar.
There are a number of other bars, restaurants and resorts dotted up and down Ban Po Beach but the beach is still quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng and Bophut. The water is shallow so perhaps ideal if you have kids.
It's difficult to fault this place given the price, location and friendliness of the staff. I've seen other reviews comment on the noise from the wildlife or the insects in their rooms, or even the cleanliness of the resort. All I can say is that you have to be realistic about how much you expect for what you pay. Don't complain about the insects and noise from the frogs if you book a bungalow which is so cheap and situated in a jungle area. And the staff we so happy to help I am sure they would have cleaned the bungalow at our polite request, if we felt it was below standard.
We paid 50 baht to get here in a Songthaew from Nathon pier. It is about a 10min ride. Look out for the round "By Beach Resort" sign on the left side of the road. The sign is next to a minimart type shop.
We paid 50 baht to get to Lomprayah pier which is also about 10mins ride from the resort but it is off the main road so you have to jump off the Songthaew and walk about 5 mins. Not a problem with small backpacks but definitely not recommended with suitcases.
We would stay here again if we visited Koh Samui again.
