We stayed here for a week in a second floor corner suite, very modern and trendy décor, the rooms are well appointed with wifi, flat screen tv, dvd player and cable. There is even a small well equipped kitchen should you wish to cook for yourself (although given the excellent food locally available why you would bother is beyond me!). The rooms have a delightful balcony with glass doors that slide all the way across the bedroom and lounge to create a real sense of space with beautiful views of the sea. Its the little touches here that count from the mobile phone and pool side buzzers to the beach bag and fresh towels which you can take out of the hotel and down to the beach should you wish. We hired a scooter from the hotel whilst here and this enabled us to explore the island on our own terms and visit little markets, restaurants and hideaway beaches that we would have otherwise missed out on.
There is a shuttle bus should you wish to just stay local to the hotel running every couple of hours and the staff are happy to organise trips at your request so there really is something for everyone. The hotel is on the north part of the island way from the hustle and bustle of Chawang and whilst this suited us perfectly if you are after busy nightlife this is not the place for you. We ate here for breakfast every morning, enjoying the variety on offer (the egg chef was particularly good) and also enjoyed an evening meal here on our 1st night but then chose to explore the options available at the numerous local restaurants on the island (this is where the scooter really came in handy). The hotel infinity pool was breathtaking and at this time of the year empty....so just perfect. Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to any couples looking for a romantic visit to Samui.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors to ensure the best views.....ground floor rooms may lack privacy...

We booked Code for the first part of our honeymoon after much consideration of the hotels in Koh Samui. After our experience we still struggle to understand how it remains (or ever got to) number one on Tripadvisor. We booked eight nights but were so disappointed with it we left a night early.

It was a range of things collectively that disappointed us:

- breakfast was average at best: a range of disappointing things daily such as undercooked omelettes, overcooked boiled eggs, no juice available, missing cutlery and glasses, terrible coffee, the menu was pretty much the same every day
- dinner was no better: under seasoned food including the local dishes, expensive, the 'specials' menu had one dish and it was the same the whole week we were there
- service: staff were polite but didn't go out of their way to help, when we were leaving we rang reception to collect our bags and they never sent anyone, we asked for restaurant tips nearby (twice) and barely received a recommendation
- spa: my husband ended up with green toenails after his 'pedicure' which also didn't include everything is was supposed to, we had massages together and the therapists talked and laughed throughout our session which lasted 15 minutes less than scheduled, the range of nail polishes was terrible and those available looked like they were 10 years old, my manicure was woeful, the spa sitting area is located in the thoroughfare between the kitchen and the restaurant which isn't very relaxing!
- pool bar: what pool bar?! There's a little cart which is brought up for a couple hours per day and is not manned by anyone during that time so if you want a cocktail you have to look for someone or use the mobile phone you're provided, the cocktail list is very limited and doesn't describe what's in the drink itself, the cocktails are also less than satisfactory
- guest mobile phones: yes these come in handy when you are out and about, but I felt like they were a copout for service at the hotel, you're lucky to see staff around this place
- shuttle: was expensive and limited in schedule, particularly in the evening when you'd like to head out for dinner and a drink or two

Thank goodness the rooms were comfortable and whilst there wasn't enough deck chairs around the pool there was plenty of lounges and umbrellas elsewhere to sit and relax.

Not once did anyone say congratulations to us for being on our honeymoon despite me including it in our booking and an email before we arrived. We checked out a day early to move swiftly to our next hotel, losing our money for that night - but it was well worth it. No one bothered to follow up to see why we left the hotel a night early.

We knew the hotel was situated in a quieter area of the island which was part of the appeal for us honeymooners. Unfortunately this hotel doesn't have sufficient staff, service and facilities to make up for the remoteness. We hired scooters and spent as much time as possible out of the hotel.

This hotel was well priced (particularly for Koh Samui) and the physical building itself was really nice, but that's not what makes a hotel great. This missed the mark for us. Our next hotel was amazing in comparison, see my other reviews.

Stayed in February 2014. Worth noting the normal hotel manager was on leave during the time we stayed.

Room Tip: Lower level rooms have easy access to lounges and pool. Rooms not on pool side are near the gym whic...

The hotel and environment was so relaxed a perfect escape with stunning views.
Staff were fabulous, responsive, friendly, extremely helpful and genuinely caring and interested.
The Food and Beverage for a small boutique hotel was great, the menu was varied enough to offer a combination of western and thai, all at reasonable pricing too including alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
The area is a little remote from the main touristy area which had a great charm and real appeal for us, t's easy to hire a car or motorbike and explore the Island directly from Code. We travelled with a young baby so to have a kitchenette and separate lounge/bedroom area was fantastic.
Would absolutely return, loved our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to review Code. Great to read you had a relaxed stay with us. That is what Code is all about. Our menu at Vanilla restaurant has lots to offer as you say along with our daily specials which guest can order in room or around the pool during the day. We have a lot of families come to stay with us and they also mention that the suites here are perfect as have all the amenities they need.

Looking forward to seeing you on your return visit.

Thank you for choosing Code.

What's not to like? The rooms are great - there's cable tv and a dvd player. The pool is beautiful, and the view is spectacular. Breakfast which came with our rooms was excellent, and we dined there twice for dinner - Thai food was yummy. It's quiet and restful, and miraculously, no bugs, so we were able to sleep with sliding glass doors open and get the sea breeze. Unfortunately, the aircon location places a heavy draft onto the bed that's not the greatest for sleeping. Also the pool should be vacuumed in the evening as the times we swam - there was quite a bit of tissue bits at the bottom of the pool. :(

Just a few more things would have added to the experience. Because Bang Por beach really isn't much of a beach :( It would be much better to 2x a day free shuttles to the main Koh Samui beaches: Chaweng and Lamai and Mae Nam.

Room Tip: Definitely rooms on the higher floor for less pool noise and unobstructed view.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your review of Code. So pleased you enjoyed the hotel and the spectacular views over the Gulf of Thailand. Code is a very quiet chilled hotel and we pride ourselves on not being in the thick of the hustle and bustle most of our guests come to us to relax and if they want an evening out it’s a 20 minute cab journey to Chaweng or 10 minutes to the lovely fishermans village. The aircon in the rooms is located centrally so there is equal distribution around the room and can be adjusted so the air can blow in different directions, some guest like to have the aircon fully on them others like yourself prefer not.

Bangpor Beach is a gorgeous beach quiet and remote, a few scattered restaurants along where guest can enjoy local cuisine or a sunset drink. This time of the year the water is shallow however this changes throughout the year.
When booking a hotel guest usually check the location, if Bangpor is too far from what you are looking for, Chaweng & Lamai then I suggest that you look into our other hotel Lanna which is located in Bangrak.
Thank you for choosing Code.
Kind Regards,
Georgina Brian

Perfect - as this was the perfect way for my Husband & I to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anninversary. Husband & wife: Georgina, Ben & their team took excellent care of us & nothing was ever too much trouble and so friendly. The call bell by the pool etc ... and the personal mobile phone ensures that everyone's needs are attended to without delay- fantastic idea !! Breakfast was delicious and we would highly recommend eating in their restauarnt in the evenings, the Thai Cuisine recommendations from Ben were spot on and the food was outstanding & the wine selection too. We were treated to a wonderful massage & facial for our special occasion, which we were both most appreciative of - thank you. We hired a motorbike/moped from the Code Reception and toured around the coastline of the whole island of Koh Samui, stopping off at various beaches / sights along the way, which was totally awesome. After that we used the bike every day to get around everywhere. Our apartment was on the top floor (4th), which was exactly what we wanted and the views were spectacular. The apartment was lush, clean and perfect in every way. We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Higher floor for better view, although everyone gets a view. Also, I personally found the bed to be...

Dear Michelle and Rodney,
It was a pleasure meeting you both and that you choose to spend your 5th anniversary here at Code Hotel. Guests love our call bell service around the pool, great way to enjoy drinks and food at the press of a button! It sounds like you were extremely happy with your stay with us and that’s exactly how we like every guest to feel. Like you, if any guests have any questions or want any advice about the island all they have to do is ask. Your 4th floor suite does have amazing views as do all the other floors, Code has been designed so each room has a sea view and a large balcony so guest can enjoy the views whilst sitting back on their day beds.
From all the team here at Code, many thanks for staying with us Michelle you were such a lovely couple to have around. Come back soon!
Kind Regards,
Georgina Brian

To preface this review what I was really looking for was a shack on the beach where everything was so cheap I would not have to think about it and I could swim all day in the sea.

I booked in the basis of it's standing on TA rather than the hotel itself and that was my bad.

The good. It is aching cool, all white, chilled tunes etc. rooms are massive they are suites, reasonable quality stuff, not so sure about the toiletries though. The staff are nice especially the manageress. Oh and the brekkie was good

The bad, they charge ALOT for stuff. Lift from he airport 800b, a taxi is about 400B, not pointed out to me when they offered to send the shuttle bus. Lift to nathon 4000B, guy at bottom of road 100b, Scooter rental 300B a day, 170B with the guy down the road for a brand new scooter. Free water left on the counter of the kitchen, fridge chilled water you had to pay for. The quality of their stuff is better but only just and not worth 100%-300% mark up on local prices in my opinion.

The biggest issue I had and it was my fault for not reading up is that the hotel is about 1km from road/ beach and the shuttle service,5 mins trip, only goes every 2 hours so you are sort of a prisoner.

If you are looking for a very relaxed holiday in a small hotel with a lovely pool this is the place for you. If you like the beach or exploring this is not.

Some good tips. Get the fuel for your scooter from a petrol station rather than the road. Petrol station 40B for 1L road. 40B for 0.5 L and you can buy as little as 50 B worth.

Although their sister hotel is the one built primarily for families, I think that Code is a perfect hotel for families with children minimum10 yrs old. The rooms can sleep 2-3 (third bed is a sofa bed)and are all fully A/C. All of which have a tv with DVD player and ipod docking station.as a family of five we had two rooms. The pool area is absolutely stunning and the pool was great. nerby is fishermans village which is an abundance on cafes and resturants. it is definitely worth hiring a car for one day as this means you can get around and see the island. the complimentary giant tuk tuk sevice that runs every 2 hours is good as you can hop on and then grab a taxi to whereever or go the the local beach.

Room Tip: the ones at the end of the corridor are bigger i.e sunrise 1 or ocean veiw 1

Hi There,

It was pleasure to have you and your family stay with us. You are correct in saying that Code is predominantly an adult hotel; however we often have families like yourselves come and stay with us, families that don’t necessarily need kids clubs etc. Hiring a car is the perfect way to see the island as most of our guests know taxis are expensive on Koh Samui, I often make guest aware of this on arrival so they are not shocked by the pricing if they are out and about on the island. Our complimentary tuk tuk service is a way for guest to get up and down to Bangpor beach and either stay there or use public taxis if they choose to go elsewhere on the island, there are always options when transportation is concerned.
So pleased you had a lovely stay with us and that you enjoyed Lanna also, great you got to try both hotels!

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Kind Regards,
Georgina Brian
