Just came back from 8 day holiday in Santuburi. One word: wonderful!
Arrived late in the night. Check in was quick and easy. Booked for equatorial suite, they have upgraded us to a beach villa (419), which was amazing. You have everything that you can think of, in the room, even more.
The beach is very nice, loads of sunbeds and hammocks. They give you two towels each, always nice cold water, cold refreshing towels, ice creams, fruits to keep you fresh all day long. Beach boys are always there for you, if you need anything. And what is very important, nobody wakes up in the morning and rush on the beach with a book or a magazine to get a bed. There is place for everyone, no matter what time of the day you arrive on the beach.
The breakfast was great. A variety of very tasteful food and drinks, especially the juices freshly sqeezed in front of you.
We had dinners in Rim Talay (by the beach), by the pool (on a Chinese New Year), in Salathai and everything was very good quality, well presented, and tasteful. Value for money, excelent. Some people compare the prices with restaurants in Mae nam or in Fishermen`s Village where you can eat for much cheaper, but it is like if you compare 2* with a 5* hotel. If you go, say in Red Snapper restaurant( which is apparently must if you like good food) in Chaweng you pay the same as in the hotel. And if you decide to pay money to stay in a 5* hotel there is really no point moaning about the price of the beer or anything. You can always buy cheaper.
The grounds are huge, loads of flowers, trees, well maintained. The pool is another story. A huge one (app 1500sq.m.). Pity, we always prefer the beach. There are two floodlight tennis courts, nice gym and many other things if you want active holiday like windsurfing lessons, fruit carving, batik painting etc.... There is also playground area, bikes and loads of other stuff for kids.
There is a small business center with two computers and printer. Tthere are also few pairs of reading glasses next to the PC`s, different prescriptions, in case you forgot yours!!! But the WiFi (free!!!) works very good in the room, even on the beach.
The staff is very, very helpfull, always with a smile and efficient..
This hotel, no doubt is very well and professionaly managed. From early in the morning until late in the night the Gen. Manager is there.
We travel a lot and we intend not to go back to the same place. But this time we might make an exception. That`s how much we liked santiburi.

Not as modern, luxurious and flashy as other 5* resorts Santiburi Golf Resort & Spa is definitly a wonderful place to stay.
We particularly appreciated:
-the location of the hotel along a wonderful private beach and nested in a colorful and lush garden
-tranquility everywhere despite the hotel was almost fully occupied, e.g. we never had a problem to find available places at the pool or at the beach at anytime.
-Quality and availability of facilities, and various activities proposed
-A very friendly and available staff&management providing very effective service and doing everything to make you coming back.
-The SPA, well priced and providing very good treatments.
-Our villa (420) well located, furnished and maintained (we just missed a coffee machine)
Nothing we disliked, however the food was very good (and a little pricey) without being great and we love great food. In fact the food here is too much similar to the food served around at much lower price.

We met there two families, one coming for the 7th time, one for the 10th time. We do not know if we are going to come again as we like to change places and hotels but we definitely recommend this resort.

The Santiburi Resort & Spa on Koh Samui is a fantastic and quiet place to spend an relaxing vacation in Thailand's south-east. The resort is situated on a spacious and well maintained area in Koh Samui's north (Haad Mae Nam) with a huge private beach. The food and especially the dinner buffets on the beach are phenomenal.

Rooms & Bungalows:
The rooms and bungalows are very spacious with really nice interior. There are around 18 suite rooms close to the main building and around 50 villas in the garden to the beach. We've stayed at one of the 2-floor suites but have also seen some of the villas. Both types invite for a great vacation with only a few downsides. In the suites you've had quite a smell once and a while in the bathroom from the sewage system. In the villas you often had one or two house animals in the form of gecko's that could result in quite some funny gecko hunting activities during the night.

Food & Drinks:
The breakfast buffet was outstanding with a huge choice of fresh fruits (incl. juices), mueslis, egg creations and all sorts of breads. Once you at the pool or beach you get free water and fruits. The drinks and cocktails, especiall the ones served in fruits, have been good and one can use the happy hour between 5 - 7 pm to try out the different alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. The dinner buffets on the beach are phenomenal with a huge choice of fish and thai dishes.

Service:
All staff have been very friendly and one must not wait long for ordered drinks or food. Arriving at Koh Samui airport you're being picked up by the hotel staff and feel very welcome during your whole stay. Also the hotel's group director Mr. Optekamp checks up on you and your feedback during your stay to make sure there's almost nothing to complain.

Spa:
The spa area and treatment options are good and well priced. The massage we've enjoyed was well done in a climatised room with a seperate room for changing clothes and showering.

Location:
Even though the resort is just 20 minutes from Koh Samui airport you are not disrupted by any airplane noises. Haad Mae Nam is still very quiet and the resort has a wide private beach that results in a quiet enjoyable environment. Since Santiburi is located on Koh Samui's north coast you'll get less sun on the afternoon at the beach but can move to the pool to enjoy the sun for the rest of the day.

To summarize, the resort is a great place to spend your vacation, even though a bit pricy, but we perceived the money well spent.

The resort is really set in a beautiful setting with fauna taken into consideration in the overall design of the resort. However, the bottom line was: for the amount of money one is paying, you expect more.

1. The place is over due for a general contractor to come in and spruce it up
2. The Food was great but not excellent
3. The beach does not recieve much sun after 11am because the trees provide too much shade.
4. There is a salamander problem there, didnt bother me, but the missus wasnt happy.

In all. This was the first stop of our honeymoon, and when compared to Four Seasons Langkawi or Westin Langkawi, this place was more expensive and was lower in quality interms of Food/Feel/Luxury

Would only reccommend if they lower the price to less than 600USD per night.

We stayed at the Santiburi for 7 nights in september. The resort is located 20 mins from the Airport. On arrival to the airport we had booked a car from the Hotel which was on time and cost around £60 return trip. Staff member who greeted us was very pleasant and helpful.

This next point has been mentioned by other travellers but important to emphasise again. On checkin you will be tempted by what sounds to be a great offer for a private villa, but is not all it seems. The villas are very well appointed but we feel offer very little privacy whereas the standard Duplex suite is lovely (as long as you have quiet neighbours) and the bedroom is 2 stories from ground level..
Food is gorgeous in the resort but expensive by Thai prices however quality and cleanliness second to none.
Spa treatments fantastic but expensive!
Beach and pool are beautiful, and you get complementary bottles of water all day and lovely treats such as ice-cream and fruit. There is a steady stream of hawkers throughout the day but will not pester you. Watersports are ok however at present the resort has no dive school (plenty in Bo phut, 10 min drive away).
Staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful.
Very relaxing and quiet resort if that is what you are looking for! Very efficiently run..

Enjoy!

The hotel is located at Manam Beach and due to the distance to the main road is a very quiet and peaceful place. Nevertheless getting to Chaweng or other more busy places is not a problem.
The hotel director and all his staff create a very familiar friendly athmosphere. We enjoyed the complete stay and would always recommed the hotel.
We had weekly golf turnaments organised by the hotel, which gives you a chance to meet other hotel guests and enjoy a spectacular golf course and all its challenges. Beside the tournament there's everyday the possibility to join multiple sports, cooking, and other activities for children and adults. Beside that you can spend as well the day at the spa or at the beach.
The beach is very nice, not busy and palm leaves are spending the shadow making it a beautiful place, since there's no need for umbrellas. At the same time you could lie on the beach enjoying the sun.
All prices, whether restaurant, golf, spa, are very reasonable. Hotel director and staff are very friendly and helpful.
