“Would stay hear again”
Reviewed 16 September 2013 via mobile

Me and my husband stayed hear for 3 night as we were travelling throuh the islands and find this place it has an amazing location as our doors open right onto the beach, its was beautiful, rooms are average no tv but you dont really need much in room when u staying right on a beach! Had great bars just down the beach. The Food was quiet nice 2 in hotel handy for breakfast and the staff were really nice and helpful we also hired a car of them 2 go 2 the other side of the island and they were very well priced and car was so comfortable and easy place 2 drive round as its 1 big ring road round island, I would stay hear again

Stayed at this resort and thought the staff at the Restaurant very miserable. Slow and seemed very unhappy to serve you. Food appalling too and not a very good atmosphere, preferred to eat next door at Shangrila bungalows where the staff actually seemed happy to see you.
Bungalows nice and location on the beach lovely but there are places that offer a much more welcoming experience for your holiday, which is after all very important. Owner very nice and friendly but obviously not passing it onto her staff.

My sister recommended this place to me - otherwise we would not have found it and probably would not have chosen it either. After staying at some higher end hotels first we weren`t quite sure what to expect, but this place is pretty good. The bungalows are nice and spacious- not perfect and a bit outdated, but they`ve got everything you need - hot water, aircondition and a fridge. The best part is the location - right on the beach and the price! The beach is lovely, the best stretch of mae nam beach if you ask me and it is cleaned every morning. Lots of shade from the palm trees.
There is a restaurant which is ok for breakfast and lunch, but nothing special. i would not have my dinner here. We ate both at the Santiburi resort next door which was expensive, but really good - and at Toy`s (bythe main road) which was very cheap and also very good.
The bungalows could use some upgrading - and the service is not really great... Everything is very slow and the smiles are missing completely. Still - would stay there again - great value!

Room Tip: Go for a first row beach front bungalow if you can!

I stayed here in 2007 and liked it so much I decided to return and after 5 years, I wasn't disappointed. We booked a beachfront room which is directly on the beach. It had a good sized bathroom with large shower and there was plenty of storage space in the room. There is a verandah with table and chairs looking out over the beach. There is no TV but this is more of a bonus for me. The beach is beautiful and quiet and the outlook is 5-star. The restaurant is ok, service not great but if you're not in a hurry it doesn't matter. We enjoyed the service in Shady Resort next door, enter from the beachfront.

The 2 staff that are only there during the day are very friendly and helpful but if you have a problem in the evening don't expect too much service. Wifi was not free but fairly cheap and I found it worked much better in the reception area. I love this place and won't hesitate to return again - paradise on Samui.

Having read a number of reviews of this place we really weren't sure what we were going to discover. However, our worries couldn't have been more unfounded. We decided to take a third row bungalow in low season (June) and were delighted to be given a free upgrade to a second row bungalow. The room was really lovely, not at all tired or outdated. It was very spacious with a lovely large, clean bathroom and big verandah. We didn't have the sea views, but we were just metres from the gorgeous beach and had lovely garden setting.
Maenam beach itself is lovely and quiet - gorgeous clean golden sand and great water for swimming and wallowing.
My only negative would be the terrible service at the hotel's restaurant. The serving staff are just miserable, not one smile from any of them! On our first day we waited an hour for a pad Thai and sandwich, and didn't receive any acknowledgement of our wait so didn't eat there again. However, if you walk up the track to Maenam village on the main road (5 mins away) there are some great local restaurants. Our favourite is Toy's - absolutely brilliant Thai food which Toy herself cooks and serves - she was so friendly and welcoming we went back there again and again! Also it's great value and huge portions!
Overall I would recommend Maenam resort and will definitely consider staying again myself on future visit to Samui.

This is a great place for a beach holiday - away from the club scene - lovely beachside bungalows, friendly helpful staff and the swimming is excellent - just walk in n- not to cold, clean and hard to get out. No pool but you dont need one. You can also hire A MOTORBIKE AND GO TO THE LOCAL MARKET IN THE MORNING, BUY SOME CRABS AND THE STAFF WILL COOK THEM UP FOR breakfast for a small charge. Great value and you dont need a TV!

Room Tip: get a bungalow on the beach - its worth it!

Hi, we just spent 11 days here, in fact we came here 2.5 years ago and loved it so much we came back with our 15 month old son, i cannot fault it again and will definitly be back again. Yes, it may be slightly dated but that is what gives it the brilliant charm, it is not over the top luxury but it shares the same beach as one of Samuis best hotels (Santaburi, next door). the rooms are spotless, clean they have air conditioning, small fridge and loads of storage space. we had a huge bed and space for our sons cot, which they provided, and still had lots of space. the balcony is enormous and has a lovely table and chairs to relax at.

The food is brilliant and the menu is very extensive, there is a good mix of local and western dishes, they will accomodate anything you wish. The staff do not speak much English but if you want to communicate then learn their language, after all you are in their country! There were a few guests staying there who were getting frustrated by the lack of english spoken and the difficulty in communicating, i would say that if you want to communicate easily then stay at home, the staff are charming and very attentive.

The beach is lovely, wide, and if you want it shady, the water is great and shallow enough for our sum to play. the resort is very safe and extremely child friendly.

If you want abeach front room then you will need to book early as they get booked out a year ahead by people who, like us, keep returning. the best rooms are the front row A5-A7 and A8-A12 although we had a B row room in the second row (B12) and it was great, our son loved playing in the garden and jungle like paths.

We will be back, than you Maenam Beach Resort Staff!

Room Tip: A rooms are the front row and i would say that A8, 9,10 and 11 are the best rooms.
