“We had a wonderful honeymoon”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

Fair house was everything we were looking for in a luxury beach front resort and spa were you don't have to lift a finger. From lazy days to perfect sunsets, awesome massages, stunning food and cheerful staff we really couldn't have asked for much more, even after 8 nights!

The resort is immaculate with planting everywhere, the room was cleaned everyday, the bar staff serve drinks on the beach, they do free shuttles into chaweng and fishermans village, everybody was smiling even when it rained.

These are all just some of my highlights.

My only criticism was that the bed was quite firm, but that really is down to personal taste.

We had a wonderful honeymoon, thank you Fair House.

Just back from our stay. We did 4 different hotels in 9 days and the Fair House was the best.
We took the rooms 113 and 114 which had views to die for and huge balconies with Jacuzzis.
Swim up bar great friendly staff. I will be back again next year!

Room Tip: Go for the upgrade and get the fabulous views over the bay

First trip to Thailand and after reading about Koh Samui, we decided we didn't want to stay in Chaweng. We wanted a quieter location, but still have good restaurant choices. So Mae Nam it is.
Fair House offers free shuttle service to Chaweng, if you don't want to take the shuttle on the designated time, a taxi or hotel car will cost BHT400 each way.
You will need a taxi or car to get to and from Fair House to go anywhere. If you want, you can walk to a nice restaurant by the beach (not a short walk) called Zenzibar. Other places you definitely need a car.
We stayed in the sunset jacuzzi room, you need to hike up to the room or get a buggy. It's definitely an exercise for a 7month pregnant woman.
Breakfast choice is not the best I've had. But it comes free with the room for us, so it got us by.
Staff are lovely, and the room in not new but clean.
There's a swim up bar, and the pool is ok size.
We stayed in late July, so the beach was always quiet windy. But walking to W hotel next door we learnt that they are more sheltered from the wind.

Our first time to Thailand, the whole trip done from internet research. Having read pages of reviews we chose this hotel, wow we are so glad we did, what an absolutely great 10 days, even now we have left many days ago, my wife and I just cannot get over what a great time we had. Ok the basics, this is a quieter hotel, definitely not a party hotel, away from mainstream area about a mile up a track/road. It is not totally isolated as we thought it may have been, you can walk on the beach to a few bars/restaurants and it is easy it go out further afield. This applies to a lot of hotels/villas, the ones ín town' are full on in town, it depends what you want. The hotel is set in lush green gardens, it has an environmental policy which we found totally acceptable, they grow some of there own flowers and herbs etc for the hotel, the pool is not heavily chlorinated etc, towels can be changed at any time but they are not changed for the sake of it.

The hotel is not new, there are certainly little things that just show this, however the place is kept immaculately clean, it is a total delight to walk to breakfast by the beach etc, just a few things look dated or worn, there was a temporary water filter in use by the pool, it could have been covered up or hidden away, but its just sat there, spoiling a pleasant surrounding, trivia I know !.

If this place was rated on its staff it would be a 10 star, just a delight to be around and so helpful, they took us to the main road on one of there golf buggies on a few occasions and to pick up water from the local shops, what more can you ask.

We booked with the hotel directly which was a smart move, there was someone to meet us at the airport ( prettiest one in the world) and took us straight to the hotel, that was in the price, we could not have had a better start.
We where met with a cold drink, our bags taken to our room. As we had asked for a room with a view, we where driven up the path in a buggy, as it is a very steep pathway, we are in our 50,s but fit, we walked this easily 3 or 4 times a day, the exercise did us good, however if you do not want this, book one of the garden rooms that are not in the same area.

The door was opened and all I can say is our breath was taken away, there are views and there are views, the bed had flowers on it with decorative swans, really was fantastic. watching the sun go down sitting in your own spa tub is just one of life's great pleasures and worth every step of the walk.
Breakfast covered all bases, fruits, cereals, basic cooked etc, staff again so helpful we sat having coffee for an hour most days, even skype'd our son whilst having bacon and eggs. We did not eat in the restaurant at night, we like to travel out, we found the bar to be a bit dark, there was a jazz player one night, he was really good but could hardly see him.

We hired a scooter from the hotel, so much easier than from hire shop, 6 pounds a day, bargain, again good thing was we had it one day missed a day, then if we wanted we took it from midday etc, all put on room bill, no handing over passports as you have to in many hire shops, just so easy, great way to see the island, just keep your eyes on the road and use common sense. There is a complimentary mini bus that will take you into the heart of town, runs a couple of times a day, they will drop you off anywhere on route. we used it into town and taxied back, last trip back 9..30pm by the bus.

One of the great things about the holiday was the total peace and quiet of the hotel, it is just in the most stunning setting, lush green, nice beach front ( not a swimming area), we went to the beach in town one day, hounded constantly by sellers and wild dogs, this is just the opposite, peaceful and serene, 25 mins later you can be in a street with a 100 bars if you wish, closer to hand is fisherman's village, bit of a tourist tacky trap but we went a few evenings, loads of eating places.

So after all that, what is there to say, stunningly quiet private hotel, we had a stunning room/view. Yes its not new, it does have its minor faults, floors creek, doors creek etc, but give me a place like this any day. Staff are great ( do not expect fluent English all the time). Will we go back, yes we will, looking now for when we can go again. !!!!!!!

Room Tip: If you do not mind a steep 5-7 min walk from pool to your room take one of the higher sunset rooms w...

My boyfriend and I stayed at fair house for a week at the start of July. The villa was very spacious and clean and decorated in flowers when we arrived. All the staff were very helpful and very happy to help us booking taxi and day trips and also the service in both the pool bar and restaurant was very good.
The pool was lovely and looked straight to on to the beach which was very peaceful and quiet, both the pool and all the communal areas were kept very clean.
Food was good and lots of selection at breakfast only comment would be that breakfast seemed a little expensive but overall a great stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Fair House Villas for 2 nights in May 2014. We found a great deal online and couldn't pass up the opportunity for a nice break from Guest Houses. We were very impressed with the room upon check in. The villas are large, clean, with a wonderful Thai feel which we really enjoyed. The skylight area above the bathtub was particularly beautiful. The pool area and grounds were very well kept. The hotel offers many classes and events including intro language courses, tree planting, and a garden walk. Beach towels are provided and changed daily. An in-room safe, bath robes and slippers are among the amenities offered.

Our only real complaint was this: We attempted to utilize the free snorkel equipment. The equipment itself was in terrible condition and did not appear to be cleaned after use by anyone as they are simply taken in and out of a cupboard by the pool. We also utilized the free bicycles to take to Fishermen's Village. These bikes were in horrific condition with my husband using a bike with faulty breaks and gears. We appreciate the availability of these free amenities, but they need to either take better care of them, or perhaps charge a small fee for maintenance.

Overall we were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms were beautiful, as was the pool area. Considering the price, we found a really great place in Fair House Villas and Spa and would recommend this hotel to anyone (just maybe not the free amenities).

Just returned after staying here for 9 nights for our honeymoon. The hotel and grounds are very clean and the staff were absolutely fantastic, couldn't have done more for us. We had a sunset Jacuzzi villa, which was a nice large room (massive bed) and bathroom with a very spacious balcony complete with Jacuzzi showing breath-taking views across the Island. Be aware these room are not suitable though for travellers that don't like climbing steep hills and steps, if this doesn't bother you then they are well worth the money! Reception do offer to take your suitcases directly to the room for you and they initially take you to your room on a golf buggy so you have a tour of the complex. The hotel staff obviously have pride in their workplace and this was reflected in the pristine grounds, all staff that we came across were very helpful and friendly. The hotel offers push bikes, scooters and there own taxi service for the guests to use during their stay all at reasonable prices. The taxi service does also include a few free of charge trips to Chaweng and back which is a brilliant service, this information is provided to you on check in. Fairhouse is located in a quieter area but is close enough to the nightlife if that is what you would like, roughly 15 minutes taxi to Chaweng and 10 minutes to the fishermans village, it was perfect for us being on our honeymoon and just the relaxing stay that we were looking for.

Thank you for a fantastic stay.
