“Fantastic, restful holiday. Amazing staff, the ideal place for our honeymoon”
Reviewed 2 May 2011

Brilliant hotel, superb room with rear pool access. Staff were great from the minute we walked into reception and special mention goes to the pool bar staff of Fon, Mon, Joke and Ice who were all really helpful and kept us entertained during the lazy, relaxed days round the pool. It was our honeymoon and a perfect place to spend it. Nice restaurants in surrounding roads especially A Night with the very friendly owner Nong. Hope to come back

This is a beautiful hotel. Higlights include one of the best pools on the island, excellent pool villa accomodation, good food and the best staff. We have now stayed at the Mercure Samui on three separate occasions. We married at the hotel and recently returned for our first anniversary. As before the staff could not do enough or us and we when we are there we never want to leave.

It was great to see many familiar faces. The management team were great and have done a top job at building a superb team.

We have recommended this hotel to all friends and family and will continue to do so. Definately a place to stay for peace and quiet not like other beaches on Samui there is limited development around the hotelnbut still some excellent bars and restaurants for a change in scenery in the evenings. We are fans of Bo Phut fisher mans village which is only at 10 min taxi journey for shopping and awesome seafood.

Simply a great resort with a fab team! So many amazings memories are here for us. Missing Samui already!

This hotel is a really good hotel - please dont see the 3/5 rating and think its not - but as its an expensive hotel and sets high expectations i dont think it quite delivers.
It is set in the mae nam beach - its quite isolated and there isnt much else around - a cheap laundry and 3-4 restaurants. It's about 20 mins from the airport, 20 mins from chaweng and 15 mins from fishermans village.
The reception area is impressive and the staff are efficient. It is all open plan with lots of water.
We were shown to our room, which was a delux pool access. The rooms are lovely - large with a good bathroom as well. Lots of storage space and large beds. Efficient and quiet a/c - but ours leaked and so did 4-5 other peoples room that were staying with us.
The patio area and the pool were great. There is a channel running the length of the block with a larger area for each room. The pool is so clean and very refreshing.
My only issue with the room (apart from the a/c that broke twice) is that i didnt feel that it was cleaned properly. There was a dead cockroach in the middle of our room and lots of hair in the bathroom. Even after room service had been the cockroach and hair were still there and we had to clean them ourselves. They seem to make the bed and check the chargable snacks and drinks and not much else. We also left dirty towels on the floor of the bathroom to be replaced and they were just left there - i dont even think they went into the bathroom to clean.
In theory there was free wifi in the hotel. its the worst wifi in the world. you should have more than one user per room but in practice only 1 user worked so only 1 device would connect at a time. it would disconnect you after a while randomly and made it really hard to use so in the end you just give up - disappointing for a hotel of this standard
The common areas of the hotel - pool, paths, restaurant, reception etc were all kept really nice and clean - strange as the rooms werent.
The food was ok - nothing amazing but nice.
The pool area was really nice and but hard to get served at the pool bar and the towels seem to run out about 2 oclock and then there is no more
The beach is also nice.
I was staying at the hotel for a wedding and the wedding seemed to go really well and was well organised. a beautiful location for a wedding.
The spa was excellent and really good value - this was the high point of the hotel for me.

We were recommended this hotel by our travel agency, as we did not want any noise around the hotel that was mentioned in other reviews of the hotels in Chaweng area. The stay itself was absolutely wonderful. There were several couples except us in the hotel. The hotel looks like a big garden, with villas and two rows of standard rooms in two parallel buildings. What completely carried us away, was the swimming pool for 5 rooms to be shared, at least 25-30 meters long, where you can jump right away from your room terrace. The room was spacious, ok for the 4-star hotel. Tea and coffee amenities, DVD in the room with a disk library at the reception. Very good and quick service. The breakfast was not offering plenty of different things to try, but we always found something to enjoy. We often visited a restaurant nearby, Luna, where we tried a lot of different Thai meals. A good thing about the location was not only an empty beach, almost just for you, but Lomprayah station 5 min walk from the hotel. These are boats, air conditioned, high speed, where you can buy excurcions and visit islands in the area of Samui. We saved quite a lot by buying the excursions directly at Lomprayah, instead of using travel agency. There are not many restaurants in the area, we went to Chaweng and Lamai a couple of times, but did not want to spend a lot of time there. Actually Maenam was the best beach for us. The only one we could really recommend except Luna was Happy Elephant in Fisherman's Village. Some fancy places like the one near Elephant Rock were a disaster (never trust the info for tourists ;-)) ) There were a couple of supermarkets in the main street, 20 min walk from the hotel, and the green market where we bought fruits - the ones we knew, the ones we read about before, and the ones we could never imagine. Samui was definitely an unforgettable experience, and the hotel is the one you would like to come back again.
