“Beware of chalet loft ladder with small kids”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

We had a super 3 day break with out boys aged 7 and 4 but want to make other families with small children who are booking the chalets to be aware of the ladder to the loft as our 7 year old fell the 7 ft from the loft!
There is no stair gate at the bottom so prepare yourselves to be on permenant ladder watch if your holidaying with
adventurous kids!!

Whilst it is unfortunate to have mishaps when on holiday, our website clearly states that the loft ladder with sleeping accommodation should not be used by children under 8 years or grannies. There are guard rails at the top and on the access ladder itself. Notices are displayed in the chalet behind the ladder warning people to be vigilant. The same notice is on the Loch Insh website.

As we wrote and explained to you, the ladders comply with building regulations and the position of a child's gate would so intrude into the chalet that it would be difficult to access the toilet and bedrooms. I am sorry, but this is the first instance in 20 years of letting. People do have to be more vigilant when in strange surroundings. We can do no more than warn people of the potential risks.

“Dogs”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

Simple - the website says this place is pet friendly, we walked 5 miles to have lunch there, and it turns out they are not pet friendly. So we walked the 5 miles back and ate somewhere else. Very disappointing.

We are a pet friendly place. The warnings we have are to keep the dogs off the beach and away from the waterfront. The other 15 acres are dog friendly, as are the chalets. Apart from guide dogs, we restrict other dogs in the restaurant.

Sadly, our experience with dog walking on the foreshore and the picnic area, is that not everyone cleans up behind them. There are lots of places to walk in the local area without having to go to the waterfront. If people would ask, then they would be guided to suitable areas for walking.

“Place to Be”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

Breakfast looking over the Loch was ideal & superb.
Help when canoeing appreciated.
Friendliness of all, a treasure.
Accomodation during off season was just so.
Only left because of a schedule to visit John O Groats & the rest of Scotland on our journey from Australia.
Would thoroughly recommend Loch Insh.
Marvelled at it all.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

We got married here and had a wonderful weekend. It's very well set up with cabins in the woods, a restaurant/bar and watersports that you can either pay for, or use for free for a a couple of hours a day if you are staying there(sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, etc). They had a hall that we could have used for the ceremony in case it rained, but it wasn't necessary as the weather was really nice.

Cara was really helpful in setting everything up and keeping things running smoothly. The food for dinner was fantastic (the chef was approachable and friendly) and we had a good reception dance. All of the staff were very friendly (and patient later on in the evening)..

My wide and I as well as all of our guests had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and I'd recommend the venue for a wedding or even just a weekend away.

“Lovely Loch”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

Only stopped here for a coffee and a 'look-see' seems like it would be a wonderful place for the outdoors family. Several log holiday cabins and an excellent restaurant 'et al'.
Delightful group of friendly white Campbell's ducks head your way across the loch when they think they've spotted a meal ticket!
