“Stunning location, superb accommodation”
Reviewed 18 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for a week in the Glenlivet lodge with the family and had a brilliant time. The lodge itself was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need including basics like washing up liquid, tea towels and salt and pepper. The beds we're comfortable, the shower was hot and powerful and the hot tub was great after a day walking or cycling.

The location is stunning. I could never tire of the view over the Loch. There are several beautiful walks you can take from your lodge and we saw so much wildlife including deer, owls, ospreys and squirrels-there were also a huge variety of birds around both in the water and woodlands.

We took advantage of the free activities to residents at selected times in the day and the kids really enjoyed the dry skí slope skiing. The kafa king was good although the wind made it very difficult. Luckily there are small ponds to practise on to get your confidence.

All in all I can fully recommend this place and we would definitely want to return.

“Cafe Experience”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

This cafe is in an absolutely stunning location with superb views across the loch and hills which was the best part to our visit. I can appreciate mid March is not a busy time and money has to be made, but to charge £19.80 for two people is a bit expensive, (plate each with 2 sandwiches, crisps (which consisted of 3 whole crisps and lots of crumbs from the bottom of the packet and
lettuce), 2 cokes (not even the whole tin, a glass), a coffee, 2 pieces of home baking, cakes having to be asked for later as forgotten about, (although only 2 other customers). Don't think we shall return which is a shame. Maybe it is more vibrant and full of life in the summer season, certainly plenty of activities on offer.

Unlike many cafe outlets, we have to charge VAT.

The sandwiches include a side salad and crisps, so there would be no need to count the crisps out as there is usually a generous portion of both, all served on a plate with a very nice view for your pleasure.

As far as coke is concerned, we do not dispense from a can, but it is the same measure as a cardboard cup, in a half pint glass.

The main thing is that all prices are shown on the menu and counter before the goods are purchased.

It is unfortunate that 20% has to be charged for products such as this in the form of VAT. The individual rates you would have paid are £8.08.

Sorry you won't be back.

“Fantastic first skiing lesson”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

From the first phone call to the end of the lesson the staff were helpful and friendly. We were having a trip up to Aviemore and decided to have a lesson on a dry ski slope for the family to see if we liked it before venturing onto the snow.
Loch Insh was the only Dry ski slope facility within the Aviemore area that would provide a lesson as all others said their instructors would be "up the mountain". I am very glad that we ended up here as the experience was fantastic.
The little one, Aged 4, did not want to try, so we had 2 instructors for 2 adults and 1 child. Both the instructors were great, very patient with us oldies and made it fun with firmness for my son, who is not the best at listening. I will be recommending them and am delighted to say i have booked further lessons at our local dry ski slope as i enjoyed it so much!

“Amazing place in a serene surrounding”
Reviewed 24 February 2014 via mobile

We stayed for four days in one of the 2 bedroom chalets and it was amazing. The views are breathtaking, the area is so beautiful. The chalet itself is very cute, well equipped with fridge, cooker, oven, washing machine... Etc. also the kitchen came with all cooking utensils and cutlery..
We have enjoyed our stay and will be considering coming back for sure
The only down side is that there is no wifi anywhere in that area and the mobile signal is very bad. It was a complete cut off from the world.

“Loch Insh Chalet Ski and Stay”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

We spent February half term staying in a chalet at Loch Insh. The room was beautifully clean and well stocked, albeit a little chilly, until we had the heating worked out. Our 14 year old son loved the 'mens den', which is a little mezzanine bedroom which was always lovely and warm. The views over the loch were stunning. We didn't eat in the Boat House, but we enjoyed having an evening drink there- again, views to die for. We were skiing in Aviemore, which was surprisingly quick to get to from Insh, so the dry slope, especially as its free to use at certain times for residents, was an excellent facility. All the staff were great, especially Morag who was incredibly swift with responses to our queries prior to our stay. Also got to mention, we spoke with Mr Freshwater, the owner, who was a great guy and gave us some fabulous advice on nearby areas to ski.
We loved Loch Insh - and will be back to sample the water sports in the summer.
