This is, for me, the perfect location for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. Everything about the hotel is first rate, the accommodation, the facilities, the spa, the food and the staff cannot be surpassed for their kindness and attention to detail. They are informal and friendly without ever overstepping the mark. The food was good last year but is even better this year. The meat melts in the mouth which demonstrates both the quality of the meat and the cooking.
This was our third visit to date and we've always been treated as special guests and other guests said the same. The hotel is family owned and it shows in the wonderful atmosphere that is generated, family members are always to be found around the hotel and every second week a cocktail party is held at their home for all the guests.
The beach is 2 miles long with beautiful white sand and the island is lovely. A place to return to many times.

We were staying as a family with 3 children (6,8,10) for February half term. From the moment we were greeted on the front steps by the management team to the moment we left we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The hotel is on a long stretch of a white, sandy beach with warm water and is quite shallow, so great for children (and sandcastles).
The rooms were well appointed, very comfortable beds, huge bathrooms with molton brown toiletries and good AC.
The food was quite special, dinners in particular were superb. Only downside was that with many courses it could be quite long for the children. Quite a formal setting for dinner, but with well behaved children it wasn't a problem and they tried a variety of different foods. We had specially requested a steak for our daughter one night and they were only too happy to oblige. Fabian was absolutely fantastic, had a real can do manner and was a pleasure to deal with on any restaurant matters! The children were made to feel welcome by staff and guests alike. We were on an all inclusive basis and you were given ample food and of great quality, wonderful cocktails and a stocked mini bar too.

There is a small kids club, where ours decorated t-shirts, made butterfly cushions, magnets and went for between 1-2 hours a time.

The spa was great, and the gym well equipped. We also used the tennis court and loved the fact they brought out towels and cold water.

The island itself is beautiful and the people in Grenada are what makes this a special place to visit. Trips I would recommend: hire a guide for the day to visit the nutmeg plant, rum factory and cocoa plantation and some waterfalls too.

first let me say that being 50+ does not make you old as the previous comment suggested nor do we wear dentures. we will be going BACK to spice island in october as the previous time we were there was so enjoyable and yes it was great not having to contend with a lot of screaming children on the beach. the ones that were there were very well behaved and were spoilt by the staff. this is one of the best hotels i have ever been to. ( i have been to many in my time). the staff are curtious, the food was wonderful. rooms ( seagreap suite ) was exquisite, being able to step straight onto the beach was heaven. i am looking forward to being on grand anse beach and october can not come quick enough

We were recommended Spice Island as our usual resort Carlise Bay in Antigua was full for February half term. We were told this was a child friendly resort. This is not the case. Come here if you are 50+ only. Otherwise when you walk into the dining room with your child you are looked at as though you are bringing a wild animal in to dine. Also children under the age of 5 are not allowed in the main restaurant at night, you have to eat by the bar....alone. Nice. The 'kid's club' is actually a dark room where you can stuff your child if you really have to, there is no light, it smells dank and damp and reminds me of something in a children's home. They only do activities indoors as that way they do not disturb the old people on the beach. Needless to say I did not leave my five year old there, I couldn't afford the psychiatrist fee's on my return home.

The food is simply appalling, we had room service every night as it was depressing having the staff smile fatuously at you whilst putting another bizarre attempt at cordon bleu cookery in front of you. It is totally aimed again at the over 50 mark. There was no fresh simple fish or meat dishes, everything covered in a sauce or cheese. It was as though they were making the food as soft as possible for all the denture wearers who frequent the hotel.

We had booked a sea grape suite and upon arrival was offered room one....which looked right into the back of the dive centre and was next to the local school. I was not impressed, the receptionist who took us to the room was well aware we would not want to stay there so begrudgingly offered us another room but said we would have to move later in the week. Nothing was mentioned about this until today when we were literally hounded out of our room into another one looking at the back of the dive centre. Upon expressing our deep displeasure to the manager it was met with not much other than the arrival of a cheap bottle of fizzy wine. Classy.

Spice island appears to do so well as the old people who frequent here are creatures of habit and are unaware of what else is now on offer in the Caribbean. And by god are they missing out.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and will certainly not be returning.

Arrived yesterday at Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada
We booked an almond suite which is excellent. The service levels on arrival & subsequently have been superb. The food is of a very high standard
On closer inspection the iPod/iPhone docking clock radio was for an iPhone 4 not iPhone 5 so after a great breakfast I asked at reception did they have any adapters. The receptionist was most apologetic that unfortunately they did not.
What a surprise to receive a call after lunch to say the clock radio was to be replaced by the iPhone 5 model. Now I call that service!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are on the beach, if you want privacy choose a suite
