Money not an issue (praise Jah), we chose to stay at Blue Horizons over the other many lodging options on Grenada. We find value in exploring our surroundings rather than feeling tied to a spot because it offers free non-motorized water sports and over-priced meals (although one can obtain those via BH's bigger sister, Spice Island Resort).

Our digs at BH were spot on. A lovely one bedroom suite w/ separate kitchen, living room, and a saweeet balcony. The space was nicely furnished w/ comfortable seating, a soothing paint scheme, cabled TV, AC, ect. The only aspect that seemed to be missed in the renovation is the kitchen. Not run down, but more grandma than the rest of the modern digs. But no worries, there is still everything you need to cook with, keep beer cold in, and cut lime on.

I didn't find a lot of info on TA in regard to the views from BH, but be don't fret none Jeb. No, you can't see sand, but it went down like this...wake up every mourning and eat our breakfast of local fruit on the balcony whilst looking out at the palm lined waters of de caribbean, do our thing all the live long day, come back, get all cleaned up'd, sip a 'lil rum water and lime on the balcony and enjoy the view all the way to St. Geo and the Carnage.

The property is a very short 5 minute walk to Grand Anse beach. Access is thru the very heart of Spice Island Resort, and we were always made to feel very welcome upon entry. I must admit, w/ our jeep rental we became lazy, and instead of carrying our cooler, beach bag, a my girls floatie to the beach, we drove the jeep and had no problem parking at SIR.

Lastly, but in no way lastly, I have to give much luv to the front desk at BH. In a word (or two), customer service. In several words;

We had to cancel our reservation 2 days prior cuz the airline (AA) canceled our flight. As policy, BH was entitled to take the deposit of $800. They did not. We were given a full refund. WOW!
We did re-book with BH a month later, and again, the airline (AA) fell short, but they did get us to GND (all be it several hours later than projected). Upon checking in at BH, the front desk had dinner brought to our room even though their restaurant was closed. But wait...there's more. The night before the mourning we were to fly home (yes, that's right, the night before the mourning we were to fly home), the front desk at BH called to inform us that our flight home (AA) had been cancelled, and they took it upon themselves to find us an alternative flight. 5 star service!!

We stayed at Blue Horizons for the first two weeks of February. As 'repeat offenders' we were glad to see that nothing has changed from when we were last here two years ago. (Apart from there being more families here than before - can only guess this is because of the excellent prices) Nice to see some familiar faces from our last visit and hope to see them again in the future. A special hello to Gill and Tom whose company we thoroughly enjoyed.

We ate out most evenings and particularly enjoyed 'Taffy's' next door. Good food, good vibes and good prices. What more can you ask?

One big mistake we made was having drinks at the Spice Islands - 4 rum punches and 4 beers cost us almost £100! On checking how much this cost last time we were there we discovered this had gone up over 300%. Don't make the same mistake!

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Grenada is still a very special place.

just stayed one week at blue horizons. it was a great place to stay for a family with young kids.

pluses: a solid and enjoyable place to stay. fab beach very nearby, lovely 'bbc' beach a short walk away, supermarket nearby as well as several places to eat, reasonably equipped kitchen, rooms were comfortable, the hotel was acceptably efficient with requests and problems. I wouldn't say they were super friendly but they were courteous and correct. Pool is smallish but clean and nice, the grounds are lovely, nice playground and tropical trees, birds and flowers. It has a very relaxed feel and it's nice sitting out on your verandah in the evenings listening to birds calling. I liked the fact that it was practical for a family but there weren't millions of kids everywhere, it was a quiet and relaxing place to be. Didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment, had one lunch which was not great but acceptable.

minuses: I had specially booked this hotel to have a separate bedroom (so kids could be put to bed and we could still cook dinner etc without waking them), but we were allocated one with a kind of partition but no closeable door, we asked to be moved and after help from our Virgin rep they agreed. we were moved to a much better room, so this is definitely a point to watch. Another point is to watch out that your pilot light on the calor gas cooker doesn't go out: one day we fell asleep in the lounge with windows shut and air con on, we felt weird and could hardly wake up, then we realised the pilot light had gone out so gas was actually leaking and filling the room. luckily we realised in time but I presume this could be quite dangerous.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this option for people wanting self-catering and a 'suite' set-up. It is handy and a nice place to stay, not super luxurious but very pleasant.

All of the staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The receptionist provided us with a converter/adapter so we could plug our laptop in, and she also took care of our car rental.
The suites are very cute, with great water pressure in the shower and a full-size kitchen. There is a huge grocery store about a 10 minute walk away. We bought lots of breakfast and lunch things for eating at the cottage and making picnics, and went out in the evening: the restaurant at the hotel is good, and there are quite a few others within walking distance, including Sur la Mer and Coconut Beach Restaurant ; a little further away but worth it: the Aquarium.
I would especially like to thank Anna, our housekeeper, for her kindness and helpfulness. When I sprained my ankle, she called the doctor for me and she always asked how I was doing and stopped to chat for a minute whenever she saw me after that, as did many of the other staff members who saw me hobbling around.
The locals who sell spice necklaces, spices, jewellery, etc. are not at all pushy, unlike some places we have been to in the Caribbean, and have lots of fun stuff for sale ; there’s also a market where you can find such things a little further along past the Spice Mall, on the beach side.

My Husband & I are from the twin island republic of Trinidad & Tobago and we spent our honeymoon at this lush resort from Jan 1st - Jan 8th 2010. Having arrived well after 9 p.m. we were greeted & immediately directed to our room -one we didn't originally book however the decor didn't disappoint & after several hours spent that day on our feet at our wedding we were just thankful to un-wind in cozy comfort.) on the morning thereafter we were escorted to our cottage & by the time i returned to room 12 to pack - where we 1st nighted the generous "Dexter" had already packed our belongings :) ( this guy is a prototype of how everyone in the Hospitality field should be!!) From thereon my husband & I basked in the serenity of our little abode until we had a few minor setbacks ( 3 power outages at our cottage) However the management & staff didnt dissappoint - we were warmly taken care off by housekeeping Ms.Earline-such a warm & caring sweetheart & nicely compensated by management after having to relocate to another room this 1 with a fantastic view of the Grand Anse that afforded us views of the 4 cruise ships we saw from our patio. Ms. Gittens saw to our comfort as well as she paid us several courteousy calls to ensure our honeymoon remained enjoyable, additionally dinner for 2 at the restaurant (service staff was amazing) & 3 free nights... Despite the little hiccups we would definitely return before years end.. The picturesque lushness of the resort along with the charming staff is reason enough to return to nurture the friendships we've established whilst embarking on our new journey together.... After several months of planning & researching various accoomodations the Blue Horizons surpassed my expectations in both Customer Service & Hospitality!!
